His curve wiped out way more hitters but mcgreevys control is crazy, 1 walk per 9. Plus 2020 with everyone was crazy

Yeah it’s been pretty clear no writers have a feel for the Sox.

For me it’s just as much not getting mad at only one 45.

What’s driving the White Sox success? Start with hitting it big in the draft.
Getz deserves a ton of credit. But Hostetler went after guys with good makeup and they have survived adversity so much better than many of our position player picks 2005-2015

Just remember how this board turned against the safe Detmers, he found velocity in a pro program and is now striking out 17 batters per 9 in AA. McGreevey isn’t Kyle McCullough

Fangraphs Farm System Rankings (7/9/21)
I am putting a lot less weight into something like this this year. These guys have so much catching up to do and the Sox “guys” have very little track record.

Sad on Williams but good stuff. Funny on Jobe. It was so clear in Feb that guy had a writeup much stronger than anyone else in the 20s/30s. Low and behold he’s now rumored a possibility at 3 to the Mets.

Just saw your mock. I really would be happy here, though the only pick I’d dislike is Mack (of rumored guys, del Castillo would make me gag). I haven’t done any research, but gut feeling is some of the best picks have been grabbing those “all around good but no standout skill” prep shortstops in the twenties. I still like Gavin Williams too. 1a is still Montgomery for me.

I was actually thinking about Sox v yankees yesterday. You know how the Yankees always have these prospects we all know of, that make their way into top 100 lists and we get national writers on their minor league progress constantly? They all seem to bust. In fairness, they’ll find a Gio urshela out of nowhere. Meanwhile the all star rosters come out. Marcus Semien, Narvaez, Escobar, Bassitt. All ho hum Sox prospects. (And Tatis) The only place that seems to value Sox prospects accurately is Oakland. The Sox thankfully seem to be self scouting much better recently.

He gets his due on soxtalk plenty. But the scouting reports on him have always been muted based a lot in saying his approach is too aggressive. But it’s hard to believe that’s the note in him when he’s been the one guy whose been able to maintain good Krates and has a walk rate not THAT different than his peers. It just feels like his power will really come together in A+

Fun thing about this is Kanny was built on mostly latam (unheralded at that) signings and late round signings. Beard basically the most highly rated at acquisition. gives me a lot of hope.

Gonna be hard to be the salary relief team when the mets are buying too. Unless Melvin capital needs another handout.

This is funny because to me the Cubs did hang onto guys like that, they got rid of excess that was 2 years away. There was a time when Cubs had a surplus of promising position players and people thought they’d trade to balance roster but they kept all of them. That was right move, and losing gleybar probably not near the gut punch they once thought.

I’d love it but also re: Petty he just feels like a guy that a scouting sites will have higher than team boards because of risk.
