  1. My opinion: La Russa isn’t the best manager option.

Hmm, found this gem, hopefully it isn't useful this year

I think it's going to be like this for a while, seeing how Dalquist was handled. Those guys that had a less mlb build out maybe are going to be handled with much more care. I don't know if that means late decisions on "openers" per se, but something is definitely different.
  4. Only psychos would say the bears traded two first round picks for Justin Fields. Every normal person would process that as the same trade as what the 49ers did. "The bears traded next years first to move up from 20 to 11" is the way people talk about draft moves. Nobody would think "wow so they didn't trade this year first? They drafted at 20 too!? Nobody would do that.

Yeah, that draft saw a bunch of high schoolers get signed we didn't expect, Krogman and Logan glass especially. Though Bush had a bit more on him that made him seem like an unlikely sign (I feel like he was a top 300 guy, not sure Krogman was. But Krogman was a high schooler in the 34th round so it was unlikely, and he looks super interesting.
  7. It always drives me nuts. I don't think Hoge did it in this way at all (that column was a lot of fun), but it always seems like when people are trying to make a draft day trade seem bad they frame it as "they traded two firsts, a fifth and a fourth!" but when they like the trade it's always "they only needed to trade a third to move up!". The Borom stuff is interesting. Missouri did have surprisingly good pass protection and Eli Drinkowitz put together a pretty decent offense in the SEC, but I didn't think they had a 5th round talent. But he was an nfl sized tackle, he was actually an oversized tackle. So that seems like a total scouts pick, maybe he was a favorite for technique or something at missouri, but when they saw he was at a 320 playing weight he flew up the boards. It will be a fun story line to watch. I'd add that missouri does do a pretty fun zone run scheme but not sure how similar it was to the bears.

That swing reminds me a lot of ohtani albeit a bigger leg kick. Looking forward to following him more. I don't recall him even making it to AZL games after drafting, crazy watching that 2019 class just in kanny.
  9. Wish him the best. There were some times where it really seemed like he was putting it together then terrible injury would hit. Not too big a fan of high school 1b selections but his power was for real.

What a fun thread! Love seeing Jose Rodriguez start quick

He was our biomechanics hire, was credited with velo increase in Kade McClure. I was really excited what he was bringing to org, but I think sox realistically through either contracting out or hiring are still getting work like this. But he seemed nice on twitter.

https://www.milb.com/scores/chicago-white-sox/2021-05-04 6 pm start times The only known starter I can see is Lambert in CHA. Couldn't find anything from Kanny on who is starting, but that will be the one to watch. holy smokes it has been so long.
  16. Love the April MVP awards. He has been struggling with a back injury. Jackie Bradley Jr has had a better season than Eloy Jimenez, blew me away didn't expect that.
  17. That's pretty impressive considering last years slate vs nl central.
  18. Maybe Cease will be like, a really good batter.
  19. This board complained about Luis Robert being lost 3/4ths of his at bats. My opinions are good.
  20. I do wonder with how Texas specifically wanted Dunning, if they aren't as interested in our young pitchers which could be a hurdle. But yes let's go for it. Gallo is awesome. Awesome players are great. Turn our frowns upside down.
  21. Same, he was the milquetoast kinda selection that was what I hated. But so was McClure. Ben Hansen was listed as the reason for McClure's velo increase, but he's starting to get us some results as they could be legit bullpen/fifth starter guys sooner rather than later.
  22. yeah I don't understand the specifics of it. I don't know - could be either had approval for a specific location? Not really sure how this works, definitely saw it on a beat writers twitter though.
