  1. Man my brain is fried. took me forever to remember who Gonzalez was
  2. Probably depends on if he's worse but we all still feel he's good or if he's worse but still good yet we all hate him for losing an important game.
  3. Depends, that year is when a lot of our extensions pump up. And we are still paying Konerko deferred money and we usually don't even count it since it's a million a year. Could be attractive if he's just a set-up guy.
  4. yeah I mean that's technically more accurate but less funny.
  5. lol, was just thinking about when Ryan McGuffey tweeted that he'd rather have hendriks for 3 years 50 million than 4 years 50 million (paraphrasing) and how that, in a way, is what is happening.
  6. La Stella could not play SS. We'd be in Beckham/Leury territory assuming no Madrigal. And realistically it's Leury.
  7. Jose Ruiz ruined like 5 games I saw in person where he came in for an inning and it would last 30 minutes and he'd give up 4 home runs. I would see these numbers that implied he had innings where he didn't implode but I'm not sure I ever saw one.
  8. This is the value. But I do think it's ok to talk about the fact that colome was perfect last year. I just had my doubts he would be able to repeat it moving forward because he had to do a lot to get that shoulder ready and I think he is already straddling a line. I have a lot of respect for what Colome did because it doesn't get much better results wise, and the fact that I hated getting him, but moving forward Hendriks provides a more likely stable backend.
  9. I don't think people understand how much closers make in arbitration. For instance, next year Hendriks will make $11 million, as you said, just a 500k increase. Mark Melancon got 4 for 62 in 2017 as a soon to be 32 year old reliever. He was great prior, but this deal is certainly in line with the 20% or so haircut we are seeing on deals this offseason.
  10. They have 10 years to pay it off, so 1.5 million/yr. Not dissimilar to their recurring Paulie cost.
  11. Best to blow past them though and deal with it later.
  12. I'm happy the sox found a way to hit the target of the player/agent. You can tell the leaks of the completion came from agent, as all were emphasizing the guaranteed money. Good for sox/hahn.
  13. I do want to say that Colome was fantastic last few years. I just really worried about his shoulder. Hendriks could fail but he's been incredibly effective so he has room to fall, whereas colome if he started to decline already had a bunch of baserunners getting on.
  14. https://www.chicagotribune.com/coronavirus/ct-illinois-covid-19-vaccine-next-phase-20210112-kg3xvkfjfrd4hfju7wwox4tlzq-story.html Pritzker allowing local health depts to move to phase 1b if remaining phase 1a are refusing shot rather than letting vaccine expire.
  15. So Colome made 10.5 million last year. Hendriks is making 11 next year.
  16. Nola was injured a lot. Giolito probably won't feel the same need to hedge risk. But any pitcher with a TJS has to have some concern it blows up.
  17. Illinois starts publishing its vaccination data for today.
  18. excruciatingly pissed I had to be stuck with that hell thread for months and it happens while I'm sleeping.
  19. They were my first thought as well. We don’t trade direct that often but they have been Hahns go-to to make trades workable. 3 way trades are hard and so him and Friedman must communicate well.
