  1. Maybe I’m misremembering but Wood at 8 seems like a big move up compared to others
  2. I agree with this. But disliked the lack of imagination in the run game.
  3. Ha, was posting this more to show that site is trash. I really dislike the future value stuff, but this site is being used a lot and it looks like garbage to me.
  4. It gets worse guys. Moncada is negative value according to this. We should dump him before we get even farther down the hole.
  5. So in case anyone is wondering Gray is on essentially a 3 year $32 million deal, where is last year is a $12 million club option. Pretty cheap.
  6. Yeah. I don't think no games is the correct way. But I think there is too much emphasis on getting players ready for the grind. It's really hard for players to make changes mid season in the majors, but I don't know that that should be the case in the minors. Wouldn't it me better ot maybe just have a first half / second half with a 3 week gap in between to try and allow players to breathe and work on something and carry it forward right into games? I think it is interesting though, whether younger guys can be developed best by a more semi game action approach like you said, and then get them ready for majors against polished players in AAA. Maybe its reversed where getting them in good game habits right away, then when they've identiifed weaknesses, working in a dedicated arena before they go to majors against the best of the rest of the farm.
  7. I don't know that they viewed the Lovie-to-Trestman play as a positive experience to replicate.
  8. Hey I was hoping to get your opinion on something. STarted it on twitter but I think we weren't on the same page and didn' want to waste time trying to do it on the character limits. You've mentioned a few times that sox should add a second AZL team for the obvious player crunch affecting them. I was wondering if the Schaumburg experience, and seeming success of both developing and preparing the players in it for actual baseball, gives sox confidence in just having a bunch of guys in Arizona complex playing in structured backfields games without being in a league can still prepare them. It seemed like Astros execs, now all gone, were starting to push the idea of game reps not being the primary development strategy. The Schaumburg complex doesn't seem like it was a failure, but did it succeed due to the allowing younger prospects mix it up with older ones in a controlled enviornment where they aren't getting crushed byt he eyeballs, or is that semi-structured backyard play as good as game experience. I don't know, I think game reps are super important for the slog of the long season and learning how to learn how to counter new ways pitchers attack (and vice versa), but I do wonder if they cut the minor league season in half, and just did the second half in a big complex mixing age and prep levels if it isn't as good or better way of doing things.
  9. ok so vs. the ALC Gray went 18 IP, 9 H, 4 ER, 21 Ks, 8 BBs, 2.00 ERA
  10. I don't know. I think they'll be at a severe hiring disadvantage this year. Nagy needs to be pressed to officially give up the reins on offense. But obviously there is another big issue this year in that on his specialty (offense), he didn't really seem to know both how to use his players and who his best players were. Examples: - Suffering through Coward at RT for weeks before finally making switch to an average oline by beefing up the interior play with knocking out ifedi and moving in westipher. The good news is now I feel good about our lg/c/rg situation and we get to try Bars at RT or draft pick. - Quarterback - mitch wasn't good, but it's clear "his offense" with Foles wasn't better than structuring an offense around Mitch's strengths, which he then seemed to resist in the last few weeks. Tailoring an offense to mitch's strengths >> "Nagy" offense with Foles - RB - early in the year there was a bunch of comments on Montgomery being a bust. But the play of Mike Davis in Carolina put a spotlight on whether Nagy was the one killing the RBs. The OC switch (and oline) showed Montgomery to be a fully capable back in this system. The good news - RB is set. The Bad news - why the fuck was he running Cordarelle patterson on short down plays so often to start year... - TE - Pick your poison here. I'll be generous and say Kmet may have not been ready. But the early season decisions to not use Graham in the red zone packages is just non-sensical. While Coward should have not been on the roster, Graham being what you'd hope he'd be, Kmet's late season play, Montgomery/Davis, and handpicking foles really drives home that Nagy was not using the talent being given to him by pace. And it wasn't amazing talent, but clearly better than he was making use out of. But it all started to work, and with a better oline, I can definitely see an offense tailored to Trubisky's strengths next year being probably better than any acquisition with the exception of Stafford which I don't know how to make possible. Defensively, Quinn was a huge bust and that's 100% on Pace. Mack has really disappointed. Really only Hicks lives up to his impact. But Smith was excellent this year, and with some additional growth in the secondary and a better scheme along with Goldman coming back it seems possible that Goldman/Hicks/Nichols is a plus front 3 and they need to find more production out of their existing OLBs. The problem obviously is timing. It seems like a terrible year for the bears to hire, it seems obnoxious to extend Pace to get him out of his own mess. But, I just don't see a new coach making a huge impact as they do play hard under Nagy. They just need to face up, commit him to the HC/non-coordinator role, and get a new DC. The only progress I can see happening is a legit football prez coming in and new GM. But it's rick smith or bust. They need legit, unabashed leader. Not another learning on the job guy.
  11. This is also just a terrible job right now. Unless they give a guy the Gruden contract...
  12. Wait can you really delete your own thread?
  13. I get that. He’s not my fav considering it feels like those times were giving our A package for the fifth name on our list. But, I just think he’s better than saying he’s a #4 guy.
  14. He’s not living on his Oakland reputation at all. Sox are buying his Reds production. Gray is a pitcher who is fortunate to have modern pitching strategies take over. He has a mediocre four-seam fb with great secondaries. Reuniting with his Vandy pitching coach made him comfortable with reducing his four seamer and living on his secondary pitches (whatever they were). He’s been much more successful. The same goes for musgrove who was just starting to lean into this. Katz will be as good for Gray as Cinci was.
  15. I hope Adam Gase ends up at an extremely unlikeable college program.
  16. Mingos was definitely toughest, vildor has to have his.
  17. What if’s only work one way I guess.
