  1. Yea it is this. If only jerry threw his weight around on this stuff. So infuriating the leg up the cardinals, for example, get in the CBA.
  2. I would again say that the issue for restaurants isn't being able to recruit employees, it's that they don't need employees because many are operating at reduced capacity. You are correct they deserve a bailout, but I don't like the term bailout for them because they are forced to operate this way. This is compensation by the state similar to eminent domain.
  3. You think the unemployment stimulus killed small business as much a virus that caused consumers to stay in for 8 weeks and heavy restrictions since? You'll always be able to find micro stories like that, but it wasn't borne out in the macro data: 70% of those that returned to work in june/july were making more at home than their replacement job. Why go back? Well, people aren't idiots and most get how time work. The stimulus ended in July, and yet the job market has not surged as a result of all this talent no longer making more at home. Why? Well, on the other side of that is a loss of support for a large amount of consumers, in addition to gov't hiring scaling back.
  4. verdugo is very good so obviously. Sox could flip him and get more than what they gave up.
  5. disagree and many here disagreed at time, but it doesn't really matter anymore.
  6. It's a typical trade with the yankees. They sent out how much talent that summer? I know the As package was ravaged by injuries but kaprellian was an injury risk at time, obviously the sox ruined that outfielder, and now mateo was shipped out and never matched his speed. Clarkin busted, rutherford hit his ceiling at age 20, and tito polo was always a longer shot.
  7. This Eli Lilly news is very, very good news. https://www.statnews.com/2020/10/07/eli-lilly-monoclonal-antibody-cocktail-covid-19/ We have, rightfully, been focused on a vaccine because we know that there may be some longer term health effects we've yet to know how to treat or realize. However, many of those that still get covid are in industries or first responders who cannot wait and need to be at high risk. When a vaccine comes, I hope people get it. But we are on verge of several very promising treatments that may substantially reduce time to recovery and mortality rate.
  8. Longenhagen's Robert valuation was not particularly good, and he had eyes on him. But - when he did was about a year before he defected an a lot of growth can happen between 18 and 19. Colas is interesting. There seems to be a lot of raw talent, but him not making the actual NPL team means it may not be polished yet. I guess, my point is I hope we get him or cespedes, but i'm less concerned with whatever valuations there are of him now which are likely based on old info. I'm interested in the first eyes of him after we hopefully sign him.
  9. Yeah I didn't have a TV in 2012 so last team I really loved and watched was the 2010 team which was a really fun team until that manny ramirez trade.
  10. definitely needed one more fire renteria thread.
  11. I can't wait to get the arb estimates and get this offseason going.
  12. Funny all that pseudo behavioral psychology crap about how masks would make people feel invincible and be more likely to get sick because they'd be more careless was so popular, but it turns out daily testing is the real culprit for those lucky enough to get it and irresponsible enough to think it's a cure-all. The rapid tests especially were known to be more prone to false negatives so the fact that a stricter protocol was not in place for contact tracing and isolating such crucial personnel is VERY bad. Very very bad.
  13. you really captured the 7 year old spelling ?
  14. I hope that VP Pence is staying far away from the WH and trump campaign.
  15. no idea but it would be a very good idea for the white sox to find out.
  16. This is going to keep spreading in the WH if someone doesn't put the breaks on and try and get it contained. Obviously WFH is not an option for many security reasons for some employees but you'd think 8 months in they'd have created some quarantine area with a bunch of SCIFs* *of course this didn't happen
  17. this is not happening because they won't just shed him, but if he didn't cost much, shooting for a Bryant bounce back year in Right Field wouldn't be terrible (was it his throwing shoulder injured?)
  18. but we've had how many TEs now to be the U and all of failed to get open? Maybe he doesn't understand why that is effective in Reids offense well enough.
  19. Yeah, though the defense is very good. And in the nfl I always just want to win however you can because you have parts of the season when you are hot and cold, and banking wins when you aren't at your best is crucial to a winning season. The colts dline is very good. There is not really a comparison in the division, though packers/vikes is better than lions that's for sure.
  20. I do have to say, averaging basically a 3.0 seems unlikely (so does toronto averaging 200k viewers(?) Forbes is a lot of trash but we have no where else to turn.
  21. I really think Nagy needs to look himself in the mirror on his responsibilities. From reports on his private beliefs, he thinks the issues are with lack of inputs preventing things like the TE, his QB, his oline, etc in his offense from performing. But when they provide all of those TEs and none of them look good? He has some pretty damn good receivers and some interesting pieces at RB. He has really bad QBs and unproductive TEs. He needs to make an offense that acknowledges and works within that. Not keep bending another roster to do something it keeps not doing. Maybe it's just playcalling, but something needs to change.
