I'm actualy opposite here. I think we've started to overemphasize this hire too much. I'd rather see white sox re-imagine the manager role than lean back on the 2010 era. Hinch/Cora/Quatraro are the inbetween there and the ideal but hinch cora have baggggage

I don't think so, honestly. Very, very few owners from the 80s left. This was the new crews first taste of a league in trouble. If anything they may be happy they won't have an owner with cash issues they need to worry about.

boy mookie betts sure is good.

Feels like jerry would vote no because he thinks cohen will be a big driver of salaries.

Cringe last scene for me but yeah pretty entertaining. I can’t stand Eddie Redmayne though. Cohen and strong were great.

Wait but Mike Trout did struggle

CK killing it. Glasnow is so filthy.

Me when they re-sign Mazara https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMJaSaXSJ/ (had to embed link when video was crazy big. Maybe I should just delete this. Oh well)

For the record Fuld has interviewed for quite a few manager positions last few years so it’s not out of nowhere

I think that anytime someone mentions Ibanez

I'd be happy with this. It's the baldelli route and that's fine and good. I'd rather sox have a system where manager responsibilities are more distributed than the superstar manager route.

Tired of larussa talk so lets do it. Pros: Good name, I could see it working I like "Rising Star" as a thing Cons: No experience Stanford - annoying alumni, but maybe this is a pro as they are less annoying than michigan (sorry @Brian ) His name's pun potential more often denotes bad things so maybe we'll put it in the bad column too

So your point is that Luhnow was happy when he was hired that he would have decision-making power over whether the astros players were allowed to do banned things, and if he would have told luhnow he wanted to stop doing a banned thing, he would have lost all credibility with his players and all hell would break loose. Solid argument, I'm going to tap out.

Gametime tactics sure. They trusted his info from being around the players. If he would have said he doesn't want players using rapsodo, he wouldn't be the manager.

https://nypost.com/2020/10/20/world-series-confidential-randy-arozarenas-future-with-rays/ no real news but, whatever, some snippets on TLR/Bochy

Of course Hinch wasn't in charge of the clubhouse.
-
You know it's funny but the actual poll options were good but nobody discusses them. The winner was that he should have tried to stop it internally so at least it was clear it was being directed by Luhnow.

I am very excited to do mine but it's too early can't believe people doing it before even arb projections.
-
Ah. Yeah I looked at him last week but didn’t see any mentions of him so figured there wasn’t interest in the NL teams.

Said in my post a while ago. It's not for me that he needs to be paired with someone younger, it will be easier to swallow for me if it's clear with the pitching coach and other coaches and player dev staff that their efforts to modernize their player dev does not end on the field. If he's just overseeing accountability and handling the bullpen, I'm sure it will be fine.
-
I thought about this too long which isn't a good sign.

Players I'm excited to see: Glasnow, Azorena (Its going to take a while before I can spell that right from memory), More Dustin May/Buehler, Mookie in RF and Bellinger going to be fun. But a Glasnow/Kershaw game will be epic.

I think this is the long and short of it for what they have to play with. I wouldn't be surprised if new TV deal + shortened season meant sox plugged their losses in 2020. And that's a big reason why FA signings may delay. Teams may wait to see likelihood of starting 2021 with fans, maybe being more optimistic if the nov 2020 J&J vaccine drops.
