Offseason Targets
I know you'd say similar for STroman, but I think sox will put a premium on availability and I just don't know how sox could rely on Richards.

Tony La Russa named Manager
Maybe we can meet in the middle with JR and hire Thome. I'd run through a brick wall for that guy (well I probably couldn't run through it)

Tony La Russa named Manager
That's what we love about him, he has a keen mathematical mind.

Yeah I agree, I think he'd be gettable for cheaper than stated. And that said, I'd much rather have DeGrom than Woodruff. I really don't like overpaying for control.

All the handwringing about Hinch and Bauer...you'd just love to see a La Russa/Bauer dynamic

Tony La Russa named Manager
I listed out reasons a while ago where I think TLR would work and be fine. I really don't want to overrate manager. THere are some peculiar leaks on the decisionmaking I think are bad, and I think jr's tendency in running bulls and sox to have multiple power centers (strong GM, Managers, Presidents moving in separate directions rather than a top down approach that has worked in ...every other org) is a concern here. But it's not a guarantee that LaRussa means he expects to be the same "superstar" manager of old. He may like the idea of being just in charge of game day decisions with help from scouting staff, but not getting in the way of Player Dev and roster. If that's the case, then fine, it could be great, but it's likely just to be normal and we don't have to worry. Truly believe that you can either have a bad manager or a manager. Francona only one that I think is truly a step above.

Rick Hahn's press conference, October 30th: People said we'd never hire a manager with previous experience, well we just hired the most experienced manager living. We're doing things differently here.

I'd freshen up on these names: https://www.baseball-almanac.com/mgrtmcw.shtml And these names: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_White_Sox_all-time_roster

Tony La Russa named Manager
Well yeah, that's my operating assumption at this point, I was just saying what I was hoping was happening since so many people not really in the org are telling anyone that will listen that he took the job.

Tony La Russa named Manager
Here is what I'm hoping: TLR is known to be arrogant. He may have made it clear in the interview he wants the job, and told all his buddies that, and they all think that since he wants it it's his. And JR loves him, but he still ends up letting the decision go elsewhere.

You know I'm down for that and have been for a while. Look at what is available at 2b each year...it's a no-brainer. I'm not that big on how Wong would age though, he seems like a pretty worn down 30.

Tony La Russa named Manager
Pretty sure this is an open secret at this point. An old Daily Herald reporter told my brother its TLR too. Not that they can't be wrong...but these are the exact people that would be excited by this and not shut their mouths. Secretly hoping it's zombie Pants Rowland who can also espouse precautions he learned from the Spanish flu days.

Offseason Targets
Seems pretty fair as you cheer for a situation where the manager is dictating personnel moves to the owner and bypassing the scouting department to look at what happened when he was recently making personnel moves.

Offseason Targets
Cons/Pros Rick hahn Cons: conservative with top talent on market, too aggressive with aging power hitters Pros: Knows how names work
-
Offseason Targets
Yes it's bad. It's the silly assumption that the opposite of bad is always good and not worse.

Offseason Targets
Until the obvious happens and TLR wants different players

Offseason Targets
You realize this would be a pretty big right? The owner installing his own manager and bypassing his GM and President?
