Sounds like things are going well! https://theathletic.com/1857108/2020/06/06/rosenthal-a-july-4-return-is-all-but-gone-with-baseball-as-far-from-a-deal-as-ever/

Tested negative today. That’s a great turnaround, now that all tests are free, highly recommend the IDPH run drive thrus. Guys - reporting the monthly jobs numbers is pretty hard 3 days post months end. There are always huge revisions.

Also remember they are jumping right into some very meaningful games. Playoff b-ball is intense and so it’s like going from zero to 100.

https://www.statnews.com/2020/06/04/lancet-retracts-major-covid-19-paper-that-raised-safety-concerns-about-malaria-drugs/ While hydrochloraquine sucks as treatment, the study of it increasing mortality rate is not yet well founded.

sigh, yeah I still really like Cavalli at 11. It's weird/fun being back by the 10/11 range, way more all over the place.

FS: White Sox draft strategy should deviate from college to prep
bmags replied to Y2Jimmy0's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm with you, it's mainly the draft this year though it's specifically Bailey's profile and Hjerstads hit tool that scare me. Obviously if Martin fell...I'm not saying no. But it's also just a matter of no late-riser college hitting prospect because they lost the opportunity to rake. I'm sure some of the college hitting talent may end up exploding onto scene next year, and I feel for them. -
FS: White Sox draft strategy should deviate from college to prep

I understand the nat writers tendency to, in the absence of good information this year, fall back on trends. That said, I think there have been enough meaningful changes in the org to question how well past precedent applies. I don't know why I'm less enamored with the outfielders, probably just know less about them. Crow-Armstrong if anything reminds me of those players that have overperformed, but yeah I agree that I like almost all of them over Hjerstad and Bailey. There's just so much development that goes into developing these players offensively, let alone a switch hitting player, let alone a catcher who has so much defensive development to do. Overwhelmingly amazing offensive catcher like Rutschman? I'm all about. The solid plus offense, should be average defensive catchers? There's just a lot that goes wrong. Soderstrom/Howard I like. THe outfielders, just haven't really spent much time on. -
Huzzah! (now don't look at the false negative percentages)

Howard definitely seems like those recent prep SSs that go 20-30 to the better orgs and turn into a hot prospect. Though, those orgs are good at that, maybe it's more than the player. I'd be pro howard though. The nice thing about prep arm in first is there's no development this season anyway.

I mean, I'd prefer saliva, but it's not as bad as certain other swab tests.

Just got tested at an IDPH testing drive thru facility in Harwood Heights. I had been in the emergency room last Friday for several hours due to a car wreck where I needed stitches, so even though I had no symptoms so wanted to be tested in case I should isolate from my family. I was really impressed by the operation. It was converted from an old state emissions testing facility. I definitely got there 30 min early and maybe 50 or so cars were ahead of me so I was dreading it, but once doors opened at 7 I was out at 730. Very fast, very well organized and definitely felt safe for the workers. And the nasal swab was gross but it’s a few seconds, no worse than a bad shot.

As far as I’m concerned the bulls only played for 5 weeks in late April through May.

Probably the best day Illinois has had since this started. 25k tests, under 1000 positives. Under 4%, near what you need for test and trace to be most effective

Laws latest has the sox taking Detmers.

It’s June, this isn’t negotiating for the 2021 CBA. The NBA has had the general structure worked out for weeks and it has still dragged out to finalize and won’t start until late July - and the NBA doesn’t have a weather issue. Each side trading an offer each week doesn’t cut it.

I wonder if these are people that by the way they talk naturally cough or ... articulate themselves too much

strange stuff.
-
that's what I thought, but this isn't how you negotiate if you cared if the season happened. And if the owners think they will lose money anyway this season, they'd rather do it while making sure the players get screwed.
-
I've moved firmly to the camp that believes season will be canceled at this point. This is the most embarrassing negotiation process I can imagine, and manfred should resign and personally apologize for being a failure to every baseball fan on earth.

my friend had similar turnaround. Was tested on a wednesday with his wife. His wife found out that friday, he didn't get his results until Monday.
-
surprised but 20k tests were reported yesterday but only 970 positives. I'd imagine a very low tally tomorrow since so many closed today. But yeah, today illinois is under 5%, go figure.

If anyone likes “The Trip” movies, trip to Greece is available for rental. I liked it much more than” ...Spain”. still the same stuff, but nothing else like them so I never get bored. Very soothing honestly.

It's that time of day: 1622 new cases 21697 new tests 7.4% positive - not as good as yesterday but hard not to look at the last 30 days and feel a lot better - testing has gone up and cases have started to go down
