Anyone else feel like the owners going with the most restrictive form of the draft despite it being seemingly against their own interests was mostly just done to signal to players that yes, the owners will burn it all down rather than give in to labor demands.
I get why you said that, I just think it's a difficult gamble this year because it's hard to bank on depth later on. Now, teams actually get to discuss this stuff with players so they'll have a better idea.
And money is money, at the very least you have a better shot to guarantee players later on. Just seems like this is a draft where it's easy to justify playing it safe with what's in front of you (if sox had kelley and another player rated the same at 11...I'd go with the other guy).
I just wonder how well expensive it will be able to convince preps now. The deferred earnings make it a lot easier to justify school. Obviously, it's still guaranteed money.
On top of that you aren't much more likely to get training in mlb camps than you would college.
I'd imagine there's going to be a premium, but there will be a lot of college talent for cheap that may sign in FA so it's definitely a strategy to go big for some young talent at risk of miscalculating and wasting some budget
I don't know why mocks still intrigue me so much when there is so little influencing them. I think aside from veen, the hs outfielders and hjerstad are the least interesting to me at 11.
When testing first surged upward on 4/23, we were at 17% positive. Testing has stayed relatively consistent and stubbornly moved downward, today finally being a nice sign of progress. Next up - 10%, then 3%.
Seemingly good news today. While Sunday’s in Illinois often see lower reported deaths it’s cases and percentage positive aren’t always far off norms.
New cases dropped to 1650 and tests dropped to 13500. Though it sucks seeing tests drop below 15k, this is a 12% positive rate - the lowest I’ve seen in a while in Illinois.
It is kind of remarkable that gio makes a case for the Sox package being best. Miller obviously great few years but kind of a guy you need to be in right position to value most.
That was from a few weeks ago. It appears it just struggles with stored samples getting diluted. When used with swabs it’s supposed to still work and hopefully that’s the case.
And I'm not that convinced on Howard, but people i like like him more than "industry" and past several drafts has felt like the good, "local"(i.e. midwest or north) prep prospects that were expected to go after sox ended up really good so now he must, it's science.
hell yes.
20,687 tests run today with 2887 cases, a 14% positive rate. Stubborn, slow, but turning the corner.
1/3rd of ICU beds full, 770 on ventilators.
I don't think any team would voluntarily play 2000 shaq like 2000 shaq and I don't think a kyrie-shaq team would be the finals team from either conference.
