I think here's the reality: - If the 2000 lakers played like the 2000 lakers they would get...destroyed by the, say, 2018 golden state warriors. The 2000 lakers averaged 4 made three pointers a game. The 2018 GS warriors averaged 12. The lakers would haven't known what the hell was going on. Now if shaq was in todays game at age 27/28 playing the last decade would he be a dominant player? Hell yeah. I mean Rudy Gobert is a dominant player and he doesn't have near the offensive game of shaq. But, yeah, trying to clog up the lane, slow the pace and go for drives and post-ups all game playing a modern NBA team? The math will just beat you. But if the 2000 lakers knew that stuff they would have just...played differently and still been damn good. I still think that was a particularly weak time in the league and the last 5 years would beat them, but you are still talking about a conference finals type team.

Jared running this stuff always reminds me of arrested development where they ask buster to navigate since he took a cartography class and he looks down at the map and says "obviously this blue part here is the land"

I am so confused why there is no socks option. Monsters.

Make murder illegal then.

I think I'd still rather avoid prosecution as it will heavily fall on penalizing the poor with monetary fines they can't pay, and then risking jailtime for something absurd. But it is very very bad news mask wearing has become a culture war issue. Will unfortunately help again if private industry mandates it.

This seems about right

Yeah, well unfortunately dupage has been hit pretty hard. The standards laid out here seem pretty normal “when ICU beds and cases are declining businesses can open”. Illinois has been smart but slow to build up the infrastructure for next phase stuff. Need quarantine hotels for test and trace. But that’s what happens when states need to build it all up from scratch and the feds are just interested in antagonizing/stoking flames.
-
Have not seen people pissed about it but granted I don’t go on Facebook. Surprised they’d be mad. The plan allowed the rest of the state to break off from Chicago/stl trends.

hmm...the lions appear to suck. I have watched 5 innings and rate them trash. This Dinos team OTOH!

ESPN Airing a replay now.

But that's not what that graph is showing. People in sweden are not living life as normal as in your guinea pig dream. Despite no government shutdown orders, companies and people have still shut down their lives. Those stats aren't much different from nashville/atlanta with the exception of driving. So, yeah, re-open and you'll look like Sweden. A still-battered economy where people are still scared to go to restaurants, bars and their jobs, with more unnecessary death and still slow recovery.

It is...amusing watching republicans try to play their out-of-power routine of trying to harness the anger of anti-establishment groups pushing irresponsible actions while actually being the main party in power. Toeing the line by pushing down to governors the responsibility of reopening so they aren't responsible if it goes badly, while also criticizing those that aren't reopening (despite their guidelines advising not to) to try and stoke negative publicity and cut down the governors. Dewine/Baker/Hogan getting the squeeze on it but will benefit from the independents politically. But then you remember that more people are suffering and dying and it isn't as amusing.

They've had melissa isaacson (espn employee too, right?), but yeah you are seeing Merk, Mulligan, a whole bunch of these people in the footage and then interviewing people that weren't there for the day to day. Some of the national guys are good, David Aldridge has been good. I feel like Wilbon tries to act like Chicago's bill simmons but he is just no believable at all.
-
I have to say Wilbon on these docs annoy the crap out of me. I know since ESPN produced it they had to shoehorn him in, but like, Wilbon was not a part of that era for anyone. He wasn't in Chicago, he wasn't a prominent national guy at the time. He's become the new Jim Belushi, and of course the one part where he could provide some value he gets completely wrong (him stating nine guys were against isaiah coming to the USA team). And frankly the chicago sportswriters would be more interesting there since the relationship with Isaiah was complicated where they were overwhelmingly on Jordan's/bulls side but also still gave him reverence for his chicago high school days. Anyway, I'm enjoying the doc a lot but am a bit disappointed that there really isn't much on the 98 season itself. That said the All star game footage was incredible.

https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/davidmack/coronavirus-parks-beaches-ok-safe-social-distancing-experts A bunch of epidemiologists asked about going outside. They said it’s fine, keep a distance, wear a mask.

I don't think 17% is accurate unless you are cherry picking certain states, and even then I'd be skeptical it isn't just due to testing increases. Illinois, the state in question, has seen higher numbers the last week but lower % positive. 2. We know viruses are less transmittable outdoors than indoors. We know the combination of heat, humidity, and sunlight are less hospitable to the virus. We know people wearing masks lowers transmission. We know keeping at a distance lowers transmission and washing your hands kills the virus. All of the activities allow people to take advantage of these, and there are very known upsides to letting people enjoy the outdoors and sunlight and exercise. 3. Obviously we will see with Illinois (where the % positives aren't increasing btw).

Also important to note I only included teams playing this week because I'm not waiting.

Saladino is the only one I've seen referenced.

steph, kd, klay...who is your fourth? His first championship maybe igoudala was better but draymond does a lot by guarding the 5s.

I think it's fine for states to open up things that they revise to be low-risk. And when you allow garden centers to open you marginally increase risk in one way (going to the store) while decreasing it in others (less likely to hire landscapers/ gardening is a stay at home activity). Curbside pickup, etc., a lot of these stores allowed this were still working but doing delivery. Not much of a change.

I’m apparently wrong and I was too young to know anyway but that Phoenix team was the only one I was scared was going to beat the bulls.
