  1. Or the poor reds.
  2. That's one thing from listening to Shirley talk, i'd have been surprised if at the end of this...albeit very limited draft, if the sox didn't land athletes.

So much of my civil war history I learned in western suburbs of illinois was lost cause history. We certainly had a pretty in-depth dive into civil rights era, and perhaps its because many teachers were around for it. But Civil War thru WW1 was very undercovered.

Super elitist to act like celtic pride isn't an information source.
  5. perhaps we should draft the most polished player since whomever we draft will not be able to be developing in team activities 2 of the next 3 years.
  6. hmm scared of his fit with sox. I feel like Jared Jones is that undersized righthander that tends to do well as a second rounder. But i'd like college pitching at that point and I guess if we get to order up I think McMahon or Mlodsinzki, but people will yell at me, so anyway i guess van eyk, shuster, cicconi.
  7. Slow, grant money just got delivered so there will be a lag to hiring. Though most counties are effectively in phase 4 in terms of numbers they won't be able to graduate until the contact tracers are in place to track at least 60% (now it's at 30%).
  8. Used to be sanguine on Howard but really would like this pick. Big believer.

The City Council does not appear to have specifics yet. At it’s heart, the dissolution is just getting out of the union contract. There will still be police, but clearly they intend to think hard about which jobs belong to police and which belong with other depts. Newark moved most of their cops to beat cops, and hired civilians as investigators among other changes and was successful. Do police as formed need to do road safety policing? Crowd control? Should domestic disputes sit elsewhere? Police responsibilities have been stretched (as have teachers) as a catch all. It’s possible to rethink that.
  10. For our restaurants sake let’s hope July.
  11. New case low, only 867 reported in IL, 4% pos rate.
  12. I’ll say this for Crochet, Sale had a full solid junior year of starting and excelling. Crochet wasn’t giving that. With Detmers you are getting much more production to base stuff on.
  13. All aces are the exception not the rule. Of course there are 100 more examples of those that took a step back compared with to those that took a step forward, that’s baseball. But Nola was a good pitcher before he was a great pitcher. Curiously don’t remember people raving how he’s likely to add velo...almost like you can’t guess. Detmers has a good set of skills to build off of. If he takes a step back he’s in trouble, welcome to every prospect.
  14. I extremely still don’t know. I still like Abel a lot and believe in Howard. Cant make up my mind on Soderstrom after Laws take, and am now higher on PCA. Not a fan of 19 year old picks, and then don’t know what to make of Bitsko/Hassel
  15. And sometimes guys that look like true #3/4s turn out like number 1s. This is the same convo people had about Aaron Nola. The pitcher that will pitch on the majors will not look exactly like the one that was drafted. But he has great command, a great pitch, and good feel to pitch. And he’s a lefty. That tends to overperform.
  16. Amen.
  17. Why on earth would Rodons career be a comp to Detmers other than they are left handed?
  18. I missed that Law had Masyn Wynn at 47. That would be awesome, but feels like a Rays guy
  19. Same.
  20. Surprised people down on Detmers, I’d be really happy. Among other things, we have nothing like him in system.
  21. Tim and Ed up the middle together ?
  22. This has caused me to re-evaluate a lot. Crazy draft. CrowArmstrongs writeup is very exciting. Soderstroms pushes me off. I knew he was off C long term, did not realize how one dimensional he was and without realized power. tough draft at 11 but just because a hard to figure out heirarchy having seen so few play.
  23. Sounds like things are going well! https://theathletic.com/1857108/2020/06/06/rosenthal-a-july-4-return-is-all-but-gone-with-baseball-as-far-from-a-deal-as-ever/
  24. Tested negative today. That’s a great turnaround, now that all tests are free, highly recommend the IDPH run drive thrus. Guys - reporting the monthly jobs numbers is pretty hard 3 days post months end. There are always huge revisions.
  25. Also remember they are jumping right into some very meaningful games. Playoff b-ball is intense and so it’s like going from zero to 100.
