  1. well yeah, there will be several more signings, but the major additions (i.e. discussions around Diaz) I'd imagine are over. Still plenty of MILB and depth pieces. Nothing to rest on pins and needles.
  2. Fegan indicates this is likely the offseason. Gonna be a long few months.
  3. one thing that sucks is next years free agent market for relievers is garbage, sox need their young bullpen prospects to show up this year.
  4. Figured Cishek was most likely scenario. I'd like to see them give some milb deals, have mentioned tony cingrani before. Still would like to go after Salazar as well. They may have expensive mlb call up numbers around 2-3 mill but if they are not injured they offer good potential for K men in bullpen. Still would be interested in Kennedy, but also look at a guy like aaron sanchez for bullpen. If his well dries up he may reach for what he can. Same for smyly, if going to bullpen increases his fastball, he could be interesting.
  5. I don't know about that. THrowing out their front office is a pretty big deal.
  6. I'm just glad things haven't gotten so watered down, started to seem like penalties would lighten up but rumored to be at appropriate level. The red sox stuff, it's bad they should cut it out, but there are so many steps that I can't get as mad. Still requires the guy on second.
  7. Passan tweeting interesting stuff: https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/28439945/sources-mlb-decision-discipline-astros
  8. Fegan brought up Ian Kennedy yesterday who could be an interesting guy to watch. Expensive and very good I’m bullpen.
  9. in that case you should be FOR this hypothetical.
  10. because you don't know he will be available next offseason, and you wouldn't have him available for this year.
  11. There's no way they are, that deal is a fantasy and to be against it is so crazy.
  12. man people are in. sane. Anyone that would be against that deal should find a new sport where people just count pennies.
  13. Not that surprising, he was a 1 year, 2.5 mill guy the year before. One of the reasons i was so against the yolbert deal.
  14. I also think we are at a point of the offseason where people tend to overrate what's the presumed "top" of what's available. Once Betances was off the board, the options for what sox needed were all of a pretty similar quality.
  15. Jose Iglesias to orioles for $3 mill...sad to see that happen. He's staying a starter though so I get it.
  16. Definitely one of my favorite follows. Great Falls will be loads of fun, presumably, next year.
  17. Of course they are. They were just trying to sign Rendon.
  18. Definitely needed some more prospect help.
  19. if we did an exercise where soxtalk tried to rank who would perform best of the leftover relievers I'm certain we'd be way off. I liked stammen and was sad to see him not an option, but it's hard to make guesses with the info we have. Definitely scouts signings left at this point. Sox definitely lack strikeout firepower, and I still think cingrani would be a good MILB pickup alongside Salazar.
  20. One - do you think the white Sox are the only team who have dealt with the penalty? It didn’t stop the Padres from signing 16 players in 2018. The Sox made a choice, they decided to punt so they could get marginal relief prospects over international free agency. Two - of course it matters they are 16. If you are 17/18 you have been passed over for at least one signing period for other players or other reasons. There will be late bloomers every year, but you are passing up a ton of the top talent and swimming for the leftovers. It is restricting an avenue of cheap talent accumulation for zero reason. And how is it different? It is cheaper. I’m not sure we even know Rodriguez or Baileys bonuses.
