Pitcher contracts for these established veterans are so tradeable. Even when they appeared fading, like Verlander, they got a decent set of pieces back. When they are great, like Greinke, they can still get a nice return. they got four years of good Greinke then traded the rest for prospects at a reasonable cost. Sox shouldn’t be so timid on pitching contracts.

And what kills me is if the sox were a top ten team in international from 2007-2013, this decade is completely different. But they were a bottom 2 team. The international classes of the last 4 years could be the fuel that keeps the rebuilded team going with trades and more. Instead they are fine riding a razor thin margin.

at this point I've given up hope that the mlb can produce interesting trade season/offseasons anymore. Everyone is too cognizant of future value and everyones team runs too efficiently and doesn't care as much about shedding salary.
