Man I was wondering why Wilber Perez is still in Kanny then I looked at his walks.
-
That trade didn't happen though.
-
Ha, I was just thinking Heyward.
-
I think it will have to be trade. I always preferred Castellanos as just a bat, so 1b/dh. Um, joc pederson sure would have been nice... I really have no idea who will be available.

A bunch of promotions (reportedly including Madrigal to AAA)

I don't believe so, I don't see urgency and there is a need to have 1b/dh open for yermin/collins/palka/etc. Not really a need, but I don't think there is an urgency.- 14 replies

Yeah I get that, but I think there is something to in this free agency: - still a good defender - good clubhouse guy from winning teams - Still decent obp even in bad years and not bad k rates But yes, not option 1a
-
I know the royals are weird but if they do buy out gordon he may not be a bad option.
-
They still have derek dietrich listed which is annoying.
-
What is the best 2019-20 free agency list? MLBTR's burned me because it included guys that were on team options.

I do agree with you that we could be at $110 million and none of us would even be that impressed with the signings. When you add up the amount of spots we still need, the $amount will be large even if there is no marquee guy. Basically would need to hit like the twins did in the offseason, which is one of the better ones of the last few years.

I don't believe they felt they were competing in 2014.
-
Their track record is horrible, and I am concerned teams will spend a bit more this free agency trying to show well for the next CBA and the sox may lose out on some targets or spend more on average than they would have last year.

I would definitely prefer making CF the plus defensive position and not RF. Benintendis defensive metrics are so hard to read because of the monster. So it's a hard question to answer but I'd take weaker arm in RF and what I believe will be plus plus defense with robert. Also feels like any deal for Benintendi would occur in offseason and I would imagine would start with Madrigal.

Not an inspiring list https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/minor-league?pos=all&lg=30&stats=bat&qual=y&type=0&team=&season=2006&seasonEnd=2019&org=&ind=0&splitTeam=true&players=&sort=14,1 Cortney Boran, Red Sox, DSL However, if you include all the way until 2005 with only players 16 and 17 and sort by wRC+, Bailey is 5th. Players like Candelario, Jorge Bonifacio, Julio Rodriguez, Estuiry Ruiz, Victor Robles and Estevan Florial show up in the top 25 of that list. His is much more BB driven, but Robles had a similar (but better) iso and worse walk percentage. So his performance does stand out.

I'm surprised by this but maybe this is the not particularly cheap aspect of the 3 years of arb. I can't imagine he'd be Betts level but he'll be expensive.
-
I'd be happy with Alex Wood but what if he returns from his back injury and is terrible? He has a big question mark here having missed almost 2/3rds of the year by the time he returns.
-
I think so. As his krate persists so low, it's really hard at times to not think of him as level-proofed. Maybe his ability to make contact is so good that even if its weak he is exploiting holes he sees? At some point you start to believe that, and if he continues to do that against better and better arms he will just be this successful player playing a completely different kind of game. I wish he'd up his SB% though.

I still think this excuse is ridiculous. To make it work people just kept extending how long a wrist should bother you to make it fit. Ptatc also mentioned the type of wrist injury he had shouldn't have affected power. His timing appeared off, he was probably letting the shift get in his head. Clearly the hot streak he was in the three weeks before was meaningful, and his makeup really did show up. The gloating over the promotion thing is silly. If they waited a few more weeks and his hot streak had continued in A+ before getting moved up...did he lose anything? He's improving as he's moving up levels which is nice to see. His brand of baseball is still working and his walks are improving. All of that is great news.

It is because he has operated so differently in the past 3 seasons that he has allowed the team to get players they like this offseason. They got under the luxury tax and stayed disciplined.

Fun year in AZL. Wish Thompson and Dalquist would pitch a few innings but I hope we can hear reports from instructs since it seems we are only one of a handful that still run games in AZ.
-
Guessing this is part two of signing glass and krugman (short lived). And the Virginia OF going to Kanny (cannot remember his name and on phone)
-
Yanks are dropping CC and possibly Chapman’s contracts. They saved themselves this offseason on Corbin, they aren’t going to be outbid on a legit piece like Cole.

It is Yankees 1, 2, and 3.
