Gotta imagine the scouts love that dude that hit a rocket to Abrams left. His speeds pretty wild, the triple he lost his balance, he kinda glides though. Not as violent as how Robert/Anderson run.

They just feel like they would have been drafted 14-20 last year though don't they? I think I'm with you that if they drafted Garland that would be my favorite. I think they probably should take barrett at 3 though.

does this work

Just to follow up from last week the surprise in the mock had to be Texas which HLL guessed. They went with them selecting Brett Bady at 7 which I hadn't really had on radar as top 10. And it was to do a big deal.

I suppose that's a good floor, abrams is 6'1/180 already though so it seems like even with a slappy approach he'd run into one more than Gordon has, but gordon it's almost hard to believe how rarely he does that. edit: worth pointing out that saying gordon is a floor is actually very flattering, getting 12-14 career war is pretty good but Abrams could also get more defensive WAR. But Gordon is an optimistic outcome still.

The lineup puzzle seems easy to put together but the rotation is hard. I'm not so sure dumpster diving is a bad idea, just make sure you get more than you need.
-
yeah that's a good explanation. Gets to the idea that hit tool is probably too simplistic to describe the many traits it's consolidating.
-
Yes, you definitely read that. It was from a fangraphs chat. But I don't know how meaningful a difference it is, and witt's approach is mature. If you are using it as a barometer of Abrams hit tool, Abrams makes good contact but hasn't tapped into more power. Sometimes reading people I think they see raw and don't see a difference between cabera weaver and abrams.
-
Yes, but witt has more present and likely future power and is still awesome. The issue is if Abrams can find his power, and if he can grow into a more powerful frame. But he makes good contact, and considering he's fast as hell, that's good.
-
There's not much difference this year anyway. Morant is fine but you either get Zion or you hopefully just get a starter this year.

Same. But have to say I've actually grown sympathetic to knicks fans of late. Crazy how garden can still be so much fun with the crap they watch.

Today will be the Rondon game.

TBH I hoped that our draft picks last year and this year were more of the asset variety than necessary. But Madrigals kinda necessary to hit now, and abrams may as well with all of our outfielders cratering.

This process is correct and it makes me happy. Regardless of whether they are bad talent evaluators, if they value Abrams >= Vaughn, but can get him cheaper, they should do it. The lack of college pitching means that all other profiles are getting dragged forward. This would allow them to get the players they like with the first and second picks. Like getting Abrams and Seth Johnson would be an infusion of plus tools into the org with high ceilings. If they fail they fail.
-
Yes I agree with this. I'm not sure we can even worry about it. Bad Player dev would kill pretty much any prospect aside from a guy like Casey Mize.
-
The plus to Abrams is if Vaughn started to struggle in AA his value absolutely craters. Jorge Mateo kept decent value through his struggles because of the speed and position, and now at age 24 has found some really nice power. This year he has 9 triples and 4 homers already in AAA and is slashing .329/.368/.567. Abrams needs to tap into power through both physical projection and swing changes, but even if he doesn't he would still be valuable either in trade or production. And if he does accomplish power he would be one of the best in the game. Still prefer witt, who has power now, but Abrams would be so exciting to have in the system that is so devoid of his type of skillset and most of all, projection. And if he fails others would have failed too.

It’s gonna be interesting. Not the show, the show will be boring, but doing tankathon it’s wild how crazy the new percentages make the results. In terms of draft, it’s either top 2 or bust. Really doesn’t feel like there’s a difference between 4 and 8

McCann leads team in OPS doesn't he?

as bad as the indians lineup is I don't actually know how much better it would have been even if they spent some in free agency. Like Grandal is the obvious one. But this is so bad.

After last three innings thought “how did so many Homers get out tonight?” Then yo crushes it oppo

Why stop at the medical and physical therapy operations?

So...... The idea that this is the front office executives capable of putting together an organization that gets you to the finish line keeps getting harder and harder to believe.
