  1. Yes, the reality is all of his numbers were bad, this is just mitigating disaster as much as possible.
  2. Nova has been bad. He is not great against any type of player except maybe Charlie Tilson and Adam Engel. But he is truly horrendous against left handed hitters, and he gets much worse as he faces batters each time through the order. What if we threw out Banuelos or Jace to start the first inning, have Nova come in after that and try to get him to only face the top 1/3 of the order twice? And maybe this could influence less LH hitters int he lineup (has that happened when other teams know they are just seeing the pitcher for an inning?). Anyway Banuelos is probably better anyway.
  3. for good reason.

I really hoped he could just get it down to 28% this year, to be sub 25% at this point is so fantastic.
  5. Signed by Brewers for 2 mill. We have Ivan nova, so we didn't have room.
  6. I mean it's certainly $200 million+ but he would not bank $350 million as an age 29 free agent in today's market.
  7. I don't understand the "we should spend money on players unlikely to be good because nothing matters". I mean, in the lowest stakes possible, they should be practicing on acquisitions to see if the things they are scouting prove to be effective. Hahn for a while had a fixation on bringing sinkerball relievers in front of a bad defense. Then Nova was an obssession on strike throwing above all else. Due to colome/herrerra/banuelos, in terms of production we are at a pretty similar level as the twins. But wouldn't you rather be actually getting an .850 ops out of your dh if that was your goal? Wouldnt you rather actually spend 16 million for that vs. 8 million for .700 ops? Anyway they are bad at paying an extra 4-5 million for players that are not 4-5 million better than the 3-4 million dumpster dive players, while resisting paying 5-6 million more for people that are legitimate starters.
  8. For what its worth (and its worth a lot), I've been burned in OOTP baseball numerous times putting montgomery in the starter role.
  9. Does being in Winston Salem promote greater health or something?
  10. gonna build an incredible team for the 1906 season
  11. Pitt is actually very analytics oriented they just are obsessed with two seamers which has been a bad fit for several pitchers. The Tampa approach has worked better for more pitchers while Houston seems like a good match of scouting and player analytics to get players they want who throw what they like.
  12. Interesting. I think it's cool to reward Yoan for leading off.
  13. It would require access to data they have, and they've spent money on it.
  14. So your take is that by two years, he means literally next year? He thinks witt will be a fast riser. Some are. Some aren't allowed to. The argument that some are slower isn't an argument for why he would be.
  15. The smartest organizations that have won a lot of games have spent loads on player development. That should be a huge tell that it matters greatly.
  16. It's not that crazy. He'd be 19 basically at draft, Jo Addell was in AA last year at 19 (got injured) but could very well have been a 20/21 year old. Assuming HLL doesn't count much of his draft year, 2022 isn't that crazy for a top 3 high school draft pick to make it unless the team didn't want them up.
  17. 2 headed monster
  18. I think it going 1. Rutschmann 2. Witt 3. Vaughn is pretty much a lock to me unless Vaughn goes off again and the royals take him.
  19. Gonna be a punch to gut when Indy gets him ?
  20. Also does having a suddenly great last year mean more than someone with Vaughns track record? I mean, it's hard to do better than a year with more home runs than strikeouts, but to have a year where that happens regardless is incredible.
  21. Yeah I just don't see a scenario he gets past Royals.
