The second rounders (and 1st round comp pick) are exactly my issues too. They really did pick just after some unfortunate fulcrums in 2016, 2017. But they should be targeting HS pitcher/SS profiles in round 2, not rounds 4 and 6. It has led to a system without much youth and still struggling to produce out of latam.

I think Coop did a very good job for a long time, but 2012 was the last year I could say he did a great job. But he seems to have been a poor fit to work with a bunch of young pitchers at once, which maybe any pitching coach would fail at. But overall, I agree with DA that it would just result in Curt Hasler, and the ideal situation where a pitching coach/manager are aligned with a progressive front office ain't happening.

I am still very confident that a player with a hit tool and baseball IQ like his will overproduce compared to expectations. I just don’t know that he figures that out by his first two years, but his other tools are carrying tools that can have him arrive before his offensive power arrives.
