Old Comiskey - Loved it, ghosts of players past seemed to lurk around every corner. The Cell - Underrated. Great food. Dodger Stadium - Did not like it at first but it grows on you. Anaheim Stadium - This stadium sucked until, they made it over into Edison. Edison - Nice park great for kids. Lose the sushi stand though. Petco - Not bad, tried too hard to be unique. Great location, next to Gaslamp Qtr. The BOB - It's July & 110 in the shade, but 75 in the BOB, can't beat that. Candlestick - Sucked always was chilly and/or foggy. Oakland - Boring Riverfront - see above Pacbell - Cool, great location. But my all time favorite : The Murph (Now Qualcomm and no baseball) but hands down the best named stadium in the history of baseball. It was named after me ( Okay so maybe it wasn't).

Robbie Gordon is a freaking twit
whitesoxmurph replied to Balta1701's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Robby Gordon needs to shut the F up and eat a salad. Gordon on Basketball: "I'm not playing against Shaq, he's to tall." Gordon on Baseball: "I'm not playing against Buerhle, he pitches to quick." Gordon on Football: "I'm not playing football even the kickers are tougher than me." Gordon on Hockey: "I'm glad they're locked out because I can't skate. Gordon on Tennis : " I'm not playing Tennis, Serena has bigger thighs than me." Danica Patrick is big enough where it counts Gordon, she's got bigger balls than you. -
Polls are becoming less and less accurate. Two recent example were the exit polls in Wisconsin, Ohio and Penn. in the last Presidential election (all having Kerry a big double digit winner in each State) and the polls of the California recall election. The recall election for those of you who don't know or remember was in 2 parts... 1- should Governor Davis be recalled and... 2- If he is recalled who should take his place Arnold , Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante, Gary Coleman, etc... The LA Times poll 3 days before the recall, had the recall going down to defeat by over 20 points and in the case Davis was recalled, it had Bustamante ahead of Arnold by over 15 points. The results were just the opposite, the recall and Arnold both won convincingly. This Hillary poll has a couple of numbers that seem to jump out as being wrong... #1 9% of the people surveyed think she is a Conservative? Did they just call trailer parks or only people with a low IQ? She has been trying to move closer to the center for her run in 2008 but she is about as Conservative Ted Kennedy. #2 33% of Conservatives are likely to support her? Maybe 10% of the right are so unhappy w/Bush that they would support her, but I find it highly unlikely that any real conservatives.

I go to Phoenix once or twice a year. If you golf they have some great courses and most are fairly easy to get on. There are some good restaurants in and around the University (Tempe area) with plenty of hot women. If it gets to hot for you in Phoenix, you can drive (a little over an hour) to Prescott, which is up in the hills and generall at least 15-20 degrees cooler and it is a great old town, with a town square that even holds square dances on Summer nights. There is also rafting and float trips on the Salt River, Hunting, Diamondbacks baseball @ the BOB (Bank One Ballpark) a race track, local lakes with boating and fishing. Hope that helps a bit.

Hopefully this quake will occur on the weekend. Downtown LA on the weekend is pretty much a ghost town, save for the homeless and a few tourists.

I hope they put that sick F%&k in the general population and don't segregate him. That way the boys inside can introduce him to many new and exciting sexual activities all involving his ass. Hopefully this will take years, before they decide they're through with him and then they kill him.

Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About
whitesoxmurph replied to LowerCaseRepublican's topic in SLaM
Looks like nobody is going to try and tackle this one LCR. I will say though that the whole confirmation process has been abused by both sides of the aisle for quite some time. I think that the senators on both sides have lost, what the framers of the Constitution meant by advise and consent. If anyone really wants to know what the thought process was behind this read the following from "The Federalist Papers" no. 76 "The Appointing Power of the Executive" by Alexander Hamilton here are a few choice quotes... "The sole and undivided responsibility of one man (The President)will naturally beget a livlier sense of duty and a more exact regard to reputation." " He (The President) will have fewer personal attachments to gratify than a body of men (The Senate) who may each be supposed to have an equal number..." "...in every excercise of the power of appointing to offices by an assembly of men we must expect to see a full display of all the private and party likings and dislikes, partialities and antipathies, attachments and animosities, which are felt by those that compose the assembly." ...the intrinsic merit of the candidate will be to often out of sight." "...it will rarely happen that the advancement of public service will be the primary object either of party victories or of party negotiations." "It is also not very probable that his (The Presidents) nomination would be overruled." It scary how Hamilton 200 some odd years ago could be so right about both the right and left in the Senate in 2005. I for one am of the belief that the President wether his name is Clinton or Bush or whomever should have the right to put his people into these positions and only in the case of an extremely unqualified candidate should the nominee be rejected by the Senate. Unqualifed does not mean that they are pro-life, anti-gun, gay, staright, conservative, liberal or what ever. It means that they are qualified to hold the position for which they have been nominated. Any person for the most part that has sat on a state bench or something similar for 10 yrs or so and has not been involved in anything unethical or illegal is more than likely qualified. If that means we get a more conservative court or a more liberal court, than so be it, that's it, that's how the framers set up this government. Just as a side bar I think that the Republicans can change the Fillibuster rules if they really want, see Article I, Section 5, Paragraph 2 of The Constitution "Each House may determine the rules of it's proceedings..." -

Note to school officials a burrito is not an Improvised Explosive Device (I.E.D.), but after it's eaten it is a Intestinal Explosive Device.

Regarding SF, Cali pretty much covered all that is good to do in Frisco. If you feel like a drive Yosemite or down the coast to Monterey are both beautiful. San Diego is a great city, great weather. The Zoo is great, better than Brookfield IMO (SD Zoo does not have dolphins because Sea World is 5 miles away) A few things to check out in SD. The USS Midway (Aircraft Carrier, plane and all) is now a mueseum and is tied up @ Broadway Pier Downtown. Across the Bay to Coronado, you have The Hotel Del Coronado, great place for a dinner or drink, esp. @ night for the sunset. (You may even see U S Navy Seals training on the beach). If you go to Tijuana, its mainly a tourist trap, go farther down to Rosarita for truer Mexican experience. If you have young kids Lego Land is 20 minutes North. 15 minutes North is La Jolla, they have a great view of the Pacific good restuarants , shops etc... Los Angeles is 2 hours North by car w/no traffic ( 3 hrs plus w/traffic), there you have all the Hollywood stuff, Universal Studios, Walk of Fame, etc... Disneyland and Disneys California Adventure are about 1 hr and 15 minutes North. Petco is pretty cool my son and I will be in town for all the games , coming down from LA.

Reddy - I was just curious to see if you considered any of the schools without all the prerequisites, such as Julliard (NYC), ACT (San Francisco) or the American Academy of Dramatic Arts (NYC & LA).

Kip, why would we hate you for expressing your opinion. People like myself and Nuke made a concious decision to defend your right to think what you want on any subject and defend our country. I hope that your class on the Vietnam War will include some alternative views and not just the typical "wrong war, wrong time, wrong place". If you talk to a lot of the commanders on the ground during Vietnam, you will get some interesting insights. The biggest of which is the fact that the congress and executive branch of the government need let the Military commanders in country and at the Pentagon, run the Tactical portion of any war. Strategic and Political constraints should be carefully applied, as to not effect the Tactical operations. I am not saying that the legislative branch of the Gov. should not have a say, but in the case of Vietnam, for example, the decision to stop bombing the North came at a time when most commanders on the ground were just starting to notice the logistical effects of the bombing on the enemy. I also seriously disagree with your Nuclear premise. I do not think that the Soviets would go to war over the sinking of a freighter or two. As far as the nuclear option for the U S, just wouldn't have happened, nuclear weapons did not have a good tactical application in Vietnam and we would never attack the Soviets or the Chinese on a Strategic level for a Tactical outcome in a different theater. I would be interested to hear what your instructor/professor has to say about the Tet offensive.

Not living in Chicago anymore, its hard enough finding a decent pizza, let alone messing it up by putting tabasco on it. It's almost as bad as putting ketchup on a hot dog.

Hey Eye another cool little trick for Vegas is that you can check into most of the major hotels at the airport. Saves you a bunch of time as you can check in before your luggage makes it down to baggage claim. Check w/the Rio to make sure they have one of these checkin places, I'm pretty sure they do. Most of them are surrounding the baggage claim area and easy to see. Just head there straight from the plane.

I go to Vegas 3-4 times a year (I live in LA) and I usually stay at either Mandalay or The Flamingo (I like the Bugsy old time gangster feel). I think Texsox is right about setting limits, often though this is related to the amount of booze you are pounding @ the table as well. I set a 4 hour limit and a loss and win limit. I always figure out how much money I have to gamble with and divide it by the number of days I'm going to be there and divide that by two for two sessions a day. I then have my daily amount I can lose. If I go up the amount of my total for the whole trip, I'll walk away from that session, unless I'm playing craps (I'll wait for the shooter to crap out).

Also - The Buffet @ Rio is one of the best in Vegas. I know you guys will be doing more drinking than eating, but thought you'd like to know.

The Rio is cool and check out the club at the top of the hotel (can't remember the name off the top of my head), but they have an outdoor/rooftop bar that has a great view of Vegas esp. at night. The other place you might want to check out is Mandalay Bay, they have the best pool in Vegas that includes a clothing optional section. Have fun!

I've actually read the script and it's pretty good and knowing the guys involved Mike North doesn't have a prayer. -
I hope ChiSoxy was referring to the camps run by the Japanese during WWII and not to the camps here in the States. As Yossarian said it is not even in same ballpark as the other atrocities committed.
