  1. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 05:27 PM) Blown saves. 6 this year already, on his way to his high of 10 in 2003. The Sox bullpen in this department is Marte 3 Cotts 2 Hermanson 1 Politte 0 Vizcaino 3 Takatsu 1 Jenks NA Walker 1 Baez has as many as our two shakiest bullpen guys - Marte and Vizcaino - combined. Well Baez is a fulltime closer so he's going to have more then others. If he were traded here he wouldn't close. He's a definite upgrade over Viz, I'd love to have Baez.
  2. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 05:02 PM) A lot of the deals mentioned in the rumor mills scare me more than excite me. Danys Baez? Please NO. At any price. AJ Burnett as a 2-month rental for BMac and Marte? Marginal. Aubrey Huff? Ok, depending on price. ********* The best deal would still be Schmidt/Vizquel for Contreras, Uribe, and Anderson. AJ Burnett would be okay if he'd sign a 3-year contract. Billy Wagner would be a big plus, but he's also a likely rental, so I wouldn't overpay. BE CAREFUL KENNY. DON'T MAKE A SPLASH JUST TO PROVE YOU ARE WORKING. Make the RIGHT DEAL(s) or don't make one at all. What's your beef with Baez?? I'd love to have the guy. I know for a fact Kenny's not going to make a deal just to make a deal.
  3. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) It was on Sportscenter. Jayson Stark was doing a thing on who he thinks what each team in contention should target. No way in hell are we giving up Politte or Cotts. Obviously, they don't do their homework. How the hell did I miss that cause I was watching sc.
  4. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 04:54 PM) Jayson Stark has us trying to bid for Baez and Huff, and the names on our side were Marte, Politte, Cotts. AACK. No trade of Politte or Cotts under any circumstances, please. I'd take Huff, but Baez isn't any better than Jose Vizcaino. He's blown 6 saves so far this year, and he blew 10 and lost 9 games in 2003 for Cleveland. NO THANKS. I don't want him. Baez is better then LUIS Vizcaino. I'd love Baez and Huff but not at the expense of Cliff or Neal. EDIT: By the way, where did you hear this?
  5. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 04:20 PM) Hopefully they can get this game in. IN Chicago, it is black out with heavy winds. No rain yet. And yet that means nothing for this game. It looks like the game should be fine, weather wise.
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 04:20 PM) Why when we could get something in return for him? I think his point is that some people are acting like we should get rid of Borch just to get rid of him. If he can sweeten a pot then fine but there's no reason to just ditch the guy.
  7. I'd like a bat or a bullpen arm before a starting pitcher. That being said depending on what we'd be giving up, I'm in no way opposed to dealing for Burnett and as everybody knows I love the idea of Schmidt.
  8. QUOTE(Tadahito15 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 03:44 PM) Still too early for line-ups? Nothing yet on the sox pride blog.
  9. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 03:51 PM) You guys are cousins???? I really hope you're joking.
  10. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 03:43 PM) I know the Bo-Sox were kind of in the Burnett derby, but besides that, haven't they been kinda quiet just before the deadline? Anyone even heard any rumors about what the Yanks might pick up? Strange. With the Yanks they don't have much to trade and with the young players they do have it seems for once they're reluctant to trade them, so it's going to be hard for the yanks to make a big splash. As far as the bosox I think Theo's a bit confused right now, it seems like he's got his sights on Burnett when they need bullpen help terribly.
  11. QUOTE(JoeH33 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) Like I said, I really dont follow the Sox minor league system at all so I'm just going off what I've seen other people say. Sorry if I seem a little ignorant when it comes to your prospects. Just ignore SF1. Nice to hear your insight on this stuff, stick around for a while.
  12. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) IMO this move just makes to much sense. Konerko is a FA after the season, and with Overbay, he would be perfect ot plug in at 1b for about 2 mil a season, with Gload backing him up. This is the rumor/deal that would make me the happiest. Overbay is just such a good hitter and would look awesome hitting third for us everyday.
  13. QUOTE(rudylaw @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 03:38 PM) Would Overbay be a replacement for Frank? Would he split time at first with Konerko? If so does Gload ever see the field again or do we ship him somewhere. What do you guys think? I LOVE TRADING TIME! If he's traded for, I think it'd basically be signaling that Frank's in trouble for this season. If the Sox did trade for Overbay he'd have to be the everday first baseman.
  14. QUOTE(Balance @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 03:26 PM) 1. Using "joo" in the future will hopefully avoid misunderstandings like that. 2. Let's not get too excited about beating KC again. They're in the basement. Act like we've been here before. A win's a win.
  15. QUOTE(JoeH33 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 03:28 PM) The only Brewer of note I really anticipate seeing traded anytime soon is Lyle. I can see this trade (if it happens) working out well for both sides seeing that Overbay is much more valuable as trade bait than he is sitting on the bench once Prince comes up for good. I'll admit I really dont know alot about many of the Sox prospects rumored to come to Milwaukee in this deal but if we could get a stud pitching prospect (McCarthy) and a long term solution at CF (Anderson) I'd be all for it. -Also I just wanted to mention that went down to Chicago over the weekend to see the Sox/Red Sox play on Sunday and had a great time at the Cell. Although I still like Miller Park better, I thought the large standing room area in the outfield was a really nice. One of my main problems with MP is that there really isn't much space to just hang out an watch the game if you dont feel like staying put in your seats the whole time. Do you think Lyle could get traded this year or our your Brewers going to hang onto him until atleast the offseason?
  16. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 03:07 PM) http://p092.ezboard.com/fbrewersfandemoniu...tart=21&stop=37 Link the to the Brewers fan site about the trade. Ha, Brewers fans seem to think that's the kiss of death from Melvin.
  17. I guess I'm in the minority as I think Smith is going to be very good.

  19. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 02:44 PM) i'm pretty sure your the first person on earth to have a dream about lyle overbay LOL. I don't know where the hell it came from. It was all jumbled up with some weird s*** going on and all the sudden the Sox acquired Overbay Meh, whatever, I'm a mess, that is all.
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 02:42 PM) :headshake You're pathetic. I know.

    QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 02:39 PM) i don't watch MTV. nobody should. ^^ I turn mtv on only when the new Jessica Simpson video is on.
  22. By the way, I swear to god this is true, last night I had a dream about acquiring Overbay and yes I know that's sad.
  23. Steve Phillips shouldn't be allowed to comment on anything. He was the worst gm in baseball when he was with the Mets and yet he's allowed to break down deals and gm's???
  24. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) I'm not saying that. But I took it as people making it seem like Melvin got raped in the deal -- and he didn't. Trade worked out for both clubs. Getting Lee's money off the books allowed us to get El Duque + AJ + Iguchi (or a combo of two out of the three), along with Pods. But Milwaukee still has a damn good leadoff man (Clark posting a .316/.378/.428 line), along with an OF'er who's currently posting an .856 OPS. Who said Melvin got raped in the deal?? I think it's of overwhelming opinion that the deal worked out fantastic for both teams.
  25. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 02:09 PM) I'm worried Doug Melvin would eat Kenny for dinner.
