  1. QUOTE(soxhawks @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 05:26 PM) i have the he gone one in grey, it is a great shirt. However, when i wear it half the people i see have no idea what it means Ditto. When I wear that shirt, my friends just tell me they hate me for wearing it(cubs fans of course) and other just give me a look like "what the hell, who's gone?"
  2. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 11:44 PM) Detroit -- LOL. Yep, I'm shaking in my boots -- I fear the rotation of Bonderman, Maroth, Robertson, and Johnson! Oh, and that bullpen! Troy Percival! Kyle Farnsworth! Oh no! When Detroit gets some pitching, let me know. Cleveland can rake. And they got some pitchers. And, Minnesota's pitching staff runs circles around Detroit's. Words to live by my friend -- DE-TROIT SUCKS, DE-TROIT SUCKS! Sorry, you could tell I miss hockey -- a lot. Gotta use the phrase somewhere, though... Their pitching honestly ain't that bad but their offense isn't spectacular. They are the antisox on offense they have a lot of guys who have good individual numbers but can't get the big hit when they need to. Percival has been horrendous though as of late in their pen so hopefully that'll continue. For the record there is one team in the division that worries me and it isn't Detroit. They aren't going anywhere this year but they do have a bright future.
  3. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 11:15 PM) It'll come down to the adage of whether you trade someone when their value is at a peak. I think you could make a case that Anderson's stock may be the highest of the 3 while Young is in the middle and Sweeney just below. Thats not to knock any of them because I think GM's all over the place would love to get a hold of any of the 3 individuals. The question is who do the Sox scouts like and at the same time would they rather deal a guy like Anderson (whose trade value is high but may rate out around the same level as a guy like Sweeney) or would they rather deal Sweeney simply because Anderson is close to the show and a good insurance if the Sox somehow got banged up with injuries. It will be interesting and I'm sure we'll see a godo player or two go. Heck just look at what Morse and Reed are doing in Seattle. Hell I watched Morse in Saturdays game in Anaheim and he's really looking good. I like what he's done with his swing. It'll be interesting with Anderson. IMO, Anderson is the guy I'd like to see go the most if we had to get rid of one of those guys, the problem is he's the closest to the show. However, what makes that case interesting is the fact that Carl has proven he can play a fine right field, and the guy can hit and damn is he clutch as hell. This makes Anderson a little more expendable in my mind because I could easily see Carl brought back to play right field with Dye at first if and hopefully when Pauly is let go. Carl takes right field for one year and then by 07 hopefully Young or Sweeney is ready. Wow, that's a pointless post, make sense or did I just ramble a lot about nothing?
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 11:00 PM) Phil Rogers has some great things to say about Chris Young in the Tribune tomorrow. It's also interesting that their minor league coach thinks one of them will be traded this season. He said he wouldn't be surprised if they got traded, he didn't say he think they're going to be traded.
  5. Greasy, I'm so glad you started this thread. This was a great first half from a great team. 9 games up in the division, wow just wow. It's been unbelieveable guys, I don't expect to see a let down in the 2nd half either, this is a great team. I gotta find a way to survive these next 3 days though, gonna be tough.
  6. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 10:52 PM) Not me. You pitch like the Sox have and field like they have as well as hit and scored runs like they have and truly they are one of the better teams in all of baseball. Sure they get some bounces, but at the same time I think its only a fluke for so long and than it just turns out its more of a skill and the Sox are good at playing baseball and they are doing a good job winning games. Good teams win, case closed. Think of the Twins the past couple years, never with a true superstar (last year you could definately make a case for Johan being that guy) but what did they do...they found a way to win. Thats not luck, thats a team doing the little things to ensure they win more than they lose. Now lets sit back and enjoy the fact the Sox are 9 games up at the break and around 30 games over .500 (maybe its 29, I don't know). One game at a time, and so for its been a blast of a ride That's how I feel. I've heard how the Twins have been "lucky" the last 3 years, good teams get lucky bounces and make their own breaks. I truely believe this is the best team in baseball and I would bet that Kenny will even improve it more getting near the deadline. Plus if we can get into the playoffs there isn't a better 1-3 then we got. I love this team, it's a great team and everyone please try to enjoy the ride. This is a special season and it's going to continue to be, this team can do a bunch of things and they have a shot to go really, really far this year.
  7. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 10:49 PM) Young plays the game hard no matter what though. He's a really special player, imo. Your gonna keep hearing more and more about him too. Its just when he hits the ball the bat makes a different type of sound. He truly has a chance to be a special player. Remember though, he also has some definate holes that could lead to him being a total bust. He's got a great attitude though and plays hard so I think the odds are in his favor. That's great to hear about his attitude. It was real refreshing to see a player like Young not to take anything for granted on a little pop up. I loved seeing that.
  8. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 10:43 PM) It was Fields. Well there goes my theory.
  9. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 09:11 PM) Yeah i was really surprised how fast he is and how he ran out that pop up, if the fielder dropped it he would of made 2nd easily. Was it Young or Fields who didn't run hard on a pop up and got a talk about it?? If it was Young that message got through to him cause I saw that play too and he was flying.
  10. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 09:37 PM) Exactly! Scary is that we struggled against Tim Stauffer (SD) & Ervin Santana (ANA)...oh sorry that was because I went to both those games.... Here is a list of the pitchers we didn't get: 1. Only faced Johan Santana 1 time of the 5 played 2. CC Sabathia 1 time in 9 played 3. Didn't face Jamie Moyer (SEA) 4. Didnt face Roy Halladay (TOR) 5. Didn't face Kenny Rogers in 5 played 6. Mark Prior only 1 time in 6 played 7. Bartolo Colon 1 time in 7 played (ANA) 8. No Jake Peavy or Adam Eaton vs SD Outside of Detroit the other teams pitching staffs might as well be farm clubs...colorado, tampa, kc, dodgers, az.... What was it a couple of years ago we got no breaks...we hit every teams win streak....this year so far the exact opposite... GO SOX great first half... LMAO at this post.
  11. There are a lot of bandwagon fans on this site, unfortunately.
  12. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 05:04 PM) STFU with this "best record in baseball" s***. Look at the way we played against the Angels, A's, and Rangers. And then consider that we've still yet to see the Yankees and Red Sox, and will get more games against the Angels, Rangers, and Orioles in the 2nd half. And then check Cleveland's schedule. I'll say this again, we've played 3 teams this year that as of right now would be in the playoffs. Guess what, we have winning records against every single one of them. So why don't you STFU.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 04:59 PM) But..but..but..but...we have the best record in baseball. GMAFB, it's very obvious that this team will have some serious issues in the 2nd half if they aren't addressed. If Crede's back injury lingers, we're f***ED with our current roster. You are unreal, honest, unreal. Everytime this team has a hickup you jump off ship. You know what fathom, just stay off alright, you're a bandwagon jumper. It's so goddamn annoying.
  14. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 04:51 PM) He was stuck behind far superior players unlike ozuna. OOOOKKKK. You like Willie and I don't have a problem with that but the fact is Ozuna has been better then Willie stastically and doing everything at that. Willie has been horrendous this year, period.
  15. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) Ozuna hasn't stuck with a team for a full season why...? Ross Gload didn't stick with a team a full season before last year, why??
  16. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 04:46 PM) Good that you let one game make that judgement. Willie will have a much, mcuh longer major league career than ozuna does. Willie will have another oppurtunity to start whether it is in chicago or not. Ozuna will never get the oppurtunity to be a full time starter. It's not one game, Ozuna's a better player imo. Ozuna just can't play 3rd, I agree that willie is a great defensive 2nd baseman and he's a valuable commodity cause he can run, however Ozuna is just a better player imo.
  17. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 04:41 PM) Or not even close. You're right Ozuna>>>>>Willie.
  18. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 04:35 PM) Have i mentioned ozuna sucks? And he coulda done what there?
  19. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 04:32 PM) all we got on the bench is Dye right? and we got Marte, Takatsu, Jenks, Walker? No Damaso.
  20. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 04:29 PM) may i ask why you use a scorecard at home Why not???
  21. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 04:25 PM) I never said that... But anyone who doesn't realize Timo sucks it hard and buys into that frauds luck is crazy... oye ve.
  22. Cmon Scotty, get on base and raise some hell.
  23. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) This is a scary AB right here. I despise Crosby when we're facing Oakland.
  24. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) So Timo is still a loser... Yes, I know Timo is a loser, Aaron Rowand is a mix of Barry Bonds and Willie Mays, Willie Harris is the best 2nd baseman in baseball, I got it.
