  1. Pauly goes yard, cmon 1 more boys. I love the next two guys we have up, lets do it.
  2. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ May 22, 2005 -> 02:30 PM) yes there was. it was his debut. You have a short leash for him. He was looking a little wild that inning. Get him out of there with his confidence still in tact. I'm not going to bash ozzie at all for the move because I understand what he was thinking but I do completely disagree with the decision. Brandon's not your average youngster, he's so mature and he just knows what he's doing, he's obviously doesn't get rattled easily but Ozzie made his choice and it backfired, but it happens.
  3. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 22, 2005 -> 02:01 PM) I wasn't expecting to win at all, either. And I'm happy that we won the series, but I'm not mad that we might lose this game. It's how this happened. Viz is downright bad this year and he had no right to be in there. When I saw him warming up the last inning, I was wondering why he would come in. Oh, well... First two men on, Dye up. That ball wasn't even hit hard so we can all whine as much as we want about Viz f***in up but that was a routine fly ball that got into the wind and went out.
  4. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 22, 2005 -> 11:36 AM) Even though Frank isn't lighting the world on fire I think the more important thing is that he's been able to play everyday. No doubt and it sounds like he's hitting the ball fairly hard too, results just aren't that important yet.
  5. QUOTE(sircaffey @ May 22, 2005 -> 12:02 PM) No, I said that we could win the series. I said this team is not a World Series caliber team. There's a difference. Explain to me how this isn't a world series caliber team.
  6. QUOTE(sircaffey @ May 22, 2005 -> 11:43 AM) I don't care whether this team has more or less weaknesses than other playoff caliber teams. That's not the point. The point is minimizing the weaknesses and making this club the best that it can be going into the playoffs. THAT'S the point. To say that we have no more weaknesses than other clubs and having that as the reason to not add more talent to this club is just stupid. I don't care how we match up with other clubs. If there's an opportunity to eliminate a weakness, you do it. Simple as that. You've changed the whole point of the discussion. If you have a chance to make the team better then yes you do it. However you said that this team is not capable of winning a world series as it is and that's just completely false.
  7. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 22, 2005 -> 11:15 AM) Pods is an AWFUL defensive left fielder. I disagree completely. I've seen scott maybe misjudge 1 ball this season, for the most part he's got pretty good reads and jumps on balls and made almost every play. I'll give you the fact that he has no arm but that's why he's in left. Anyways, difference of opinion I guess.
  8. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 22, 2005 -> 10:58 AM) Main priority will be a long term deal with Garland IMO. I think they could move Dye to 1B after the season and let Konerko walk with Frank taking DH, Everett/Anderson in RF. I'd like to see Jon and AJ signed long term before anything else. The idea with Dye at first is definitely an interesting one. Anderson is going to be starting next year, no doubt about it. Basically the one major place there is going to be an opening is first depending on what happens with Pauly. Anyways, there is going to be some serious range in the outfield next year.
  9. QUOTE(sircaffey @ May 22, 2005 -> 10:51 AM) Of course we CAN, any team CAN, but the chances aren't favorable. So you would rather sit and not address a weakness just because we CAN win the series instead of addressing a weakness and becoming that much better? I think that is ridiculous logic. Why aren't the chances favorable?? This team has a good of chance as any team in baseball to win the series. There isn't a team in baseball with less weaknesses then the sox. Not to mention if we can manage to get into the playoffs, we'll be throwing out duque, buehrle, garland and garcia, who the hell can match that??
  10. QUOTE(sircaffey @ May 21, 2005 -> 08:18 PM) Agreed. As much as we want to believe it as fans, we are NOT a World Series caliber team. There are places where this team could improve and the setup/closer role is one of them. Bulls***. Every team has weaknesses and to tell you the truth we really don't have a glaring weakness. This team already is capable of winning the series, obviously doesn't mean they are going to but they definitely can.
  11. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 22, 2005 -> 12:45 AM) yes but also Carlos >> Konerko... still we made out like theives on the deal, Pods has been amazing and we got other key players because of it.. but even though Carlos avg. been down he has made the brewers a bigger threat offensively... its nice to see a trade where both sides win. Like's already been said there is no way that Milwaukee would have taken pauly so it's a moot point.
  12. QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ May 21, 2005 -> 09:17 PM) This may not be the thread for this, but does this feel like The 2003 Yankee series and Neal Cotts all over again? In this instance garland could be pitching for the sweep, instead a rookie is going. Someone please ease my mind. Big, Big difference. First off we're not screwing around with the rotation which manuel did. Most importantly the yankees were one of the best hitting teams in the league and the tigers were just plain awful so there was no doubt where neal should have made his debut. In this instance even without vlad the angels are still a better hitting team then the flubs, Brandon's got a pretty nice situation to get started with imo.
  13. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ May 22, 2005 -> 12:10 AM) Yes he did and in fact I had Grand Slam in the score book already then look up and sweeney take it back but it would matter little as Kris (ugh) Honel gave up the next 2 runs on a double Man, it's sad to see Kris fall this far. I forgot to make this comment in yesterdays games thread but it looks like Corwin is doing the complete opposite of Honel, I had Corwin basically written off and he's coming on strong, I hope he can keep it up.
  14. QUOTE(danman31 @ May 21, 2005 -> 11:13 PM) Screw that. Pods>Carlos. Not even close. Carlos is hitting .259 this year. Even if he hits like he did last year I'd still take Podsednik over him, no contest. Right now I'd venture to say Scott>>>>Carlos, if Carlos hits 30 plus bombs and drives in over 100, scott is still much more valuable then Carlos. Players like Scott just aren't around anymore, he's very special.
  15. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 21, 2005 -> 07:53 PM) Count pitched awesome today. The Sox did a hell of a job fighting back after Zambrano got out of the game. I love it. A series win, and a 31-12 record. Who'd a thunk it? Contreras has been a new pitcher as of late, all of the sudden he's pitching fast and throwing strikes, I don't know what the hell happened to him but I love it. El duque and Aj are probably the best things that ever happened to him.
  16. QUOTE(traydragen @ May 21, 2005 -> 07:51 PM) Awesome CLee had 4 rbi with a homer.. I miss Carlos But heres to having Pods/Vizcaino/El Duque/Extra Cash I wish Carlos the best but I can honestly say that Scott has made me not miss Carlos at all.
  17. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ May 21, 2005 -> 06:13 PM) My dad then came inside and chewed my ass out for being so obsessed with the Sox. Man, I can't even count the amount of times my dad has done the same thing to me. Anyways, it's going to be pretty exciting to see Brandon make his debut. If there is anyone who seems like he could be successful during his first start it's bmac, he just seems to have a great head on his shoulders, hopefully he does what we all know he can do and help us sweep the flubs.
  18. Blah, patterson with a double, cmon Dustin, shut it down here.
  19. Will damaso be available tomorrow?? He was overworked today.
  20. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 21, 2005 -> 02:19 PM) When you need f***ing baserunners it's stupid. :rolly If it was ozuna it would have been genius. Anyways go get 'em Hermy.
  21. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 21, 2005 -> 02:13 PM) Awesome job by the top of the order today. It seems like we've been able to say that almost every game this year, which is an amazing thing to have.
