Baseball Injury Information Thread
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 23, 2014 -> 06:06 PM) It is. However, you will see it used outside the US because ice is not as readily available. They don't use ice for much of anything. Ahh ok, that makes sense. Thanks.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 23, 2014 -> 02:50 PM) Because they found out that it was just a topical effect and the effect of the cold did not reach down to where the injury was. The effects of cold that really help the injury are to slow down the inflammatory process. The topical modalities numbed the pain a little but didn't do much else. Plus it's cheaper to just have the ice or cold packs handy. Obviously not baseball related but is that the same spray they use at the World Cup? Pretty useless there too I take it?

2014 Films Thread
Had the day off on Friday so decided to go to a movie solo for the first time and ended up being the only person in the theatre, so that was cool. Saw X Men and loved it.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Jun 23, 2014 -> 10:00 AM) If they would write proper stories for him, that is. I think that was the final straw for him - he was getting burnt out anyway, and the stuff they were having him do was just bland. The surprise for me was how bad his feud with Paul Heyman was. That, in theory, should have been a classic feud on the mic, but it fell so flat. I don't know if their hearts weren't in it, or what, but the whole thing felt forced and weak. I'm not sure if Punk will ever go back to WWE, unless he got a Brock-like contract. With a kid on the way, and reportedly being very good with his money, I wouldn't think he will want to commit to a full WWE schedule again. I thought that feud started out pretty awesome when Brock was the guy he was fighting. But after Summerslam when they tried to keep it going with Ryback and Axel...blah. But ya, I don't think we're going to see Punk for a long time.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 22, 2014 -> 01:13 PM) What's your number? ...I mean Boozer was a 2x All star before they signed him, so technically I'd say they already did 4 years ago....But ya I'm done with all the Debbie Downers. Why does this bother you so much? The Bulls the last 10 years have been linked to every star player there is and have acquired none of them. Until it actually happens of course we're all going to be skeptical.

Isaiah Austin is done with basketball because of some genetic disorder. That kid has been through a ton, I feel real bad for him.

Your Current Top 10
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 22, 2014 -> 11:48 AM) I am going off the 80 grade. And I just think that he may have terrific raw speed, it simply is not manifesting itself on the baseball field yet. He is only 14 for 23 in SBs. Meh, sb's are far from the only thing elite speed does for a player.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 02:38 PM) Meh, I guess there's no swaying people so I'm just gonna let it ride. Looking more into Afflalo more, he seems to really make since for this team. If all goes wrong and 1. LBJ stays in Miami and Melo stays in NY (Nothing we can do about that), and 2. we don't wanna trade Noah+ for Love (which most here don't wanna do) then I'd have no problem with Afflalo being the major piece brought in......He was a borderline All Star last year and the Bulls would be able to build a really strong bench with the extra money they save. Again not my first choice, but not a bad choice. Acquiring just Afflalo does nothing for us.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 21, 2014 -> 11:56 AM) I guess France? The French have looked by far the best to me. The I guess part was about them being a power as they weren't a favorite or anything coming in.

2014 FIFA World Cup
It's kind of crazy how hit and miss some of the powers have been so far. Obviously Spain is gone, Brazil hasn't looked good at all, same with Argentina, Italy not the best so far. The Dutch, Germany and I guess France are really the only top teams looking really good so far.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 09:40 AM) No it wouldn't be the cause. It would be that he would have torn the ligament again with whatever he did. However, because the bone was for whatever reason weaker than the ligament the force went to the bone. I have never seen or heard of anything like this. The only fractures from throwing I've heard of are humerus fractures where there is a tremendous amount of rotation torque. Gavin Floyd needs to drink some milk.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jun 19, 2014 -> 03:53 PM) What kind of info are you looking for? You are staying close, so getting to the ballpark will be no problem. They just opened Ballpark Village this season, its big and popular, but not really my thing. There's a place called Flying Saucer about a block from the stadium that has a great beer selection and decent food. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 19, 2014 -> 04:36 PM) Well I know the know downtown could turn into a sketchy area pretty quickly and one of the girls I'm going with has a propensity to wander when she's drunk. Obviously we'll be keeping an eye on her but is it safe to say as long as we stay around the Hilton and Busch Stadium we shouldn't be near any potentially troublesome areas? Ya, as long as you're in the area of Busch, I wouldn't worry too much. I've been to Ballpark Village once and I absolutely loved it but obviously it depends on what you're into.

2014 FIFA World Cup
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 19, 2014 -> 04:04 PM) As TheTruth05 said, it probably has to do with their teams. Ronaldo and Messi play on two of the most stacked club teams in the world. Their club teams are definitely better than their national teams. Ya that would basically be my guess.
