  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 11:35 AM) He's entering his prime so he clearly could break out and be a 20HR guy with a lot of doubles. He's a very good base-runner. I see potential in this deal, but I think its a little risky. Not that I think Getz will ever be a super-star and Fields I could care less about (I wish him nothing but the best of luck elsewhere, but he'll never amount to anything in Chicago so KC is a good place for him). I have to think we get at least a M. You also have to remember we had a serious void from the left side of the plate. Mark should help that void. I wouldn't say the deal itself is risky but having Teahen is the every day rf definitely is. As for the other ideas being thrown around in this thread, would absolutely love to add the O dog as our 2b, I hope Kenny is thinking the same thing. And we need to find a dh with some serious pop.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 12:26 PM) The A's also expected a lot of guys to develop power based on how Giambi had developed surprising power for his frame. They had a bit of an issue with their data, it turned out. Well lets just roid Teahen up than.
  3. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 12:08 PM) Then do you agree with this? My immediate thought upon looking at Teahen's salary was, "how much would it suck if Beltre or Hudson end up signing for about $6M?" Apparently Beltre is a boras client so it doesn't matter anyway. I agree about Hudson though, that'd make me a sad panda.
  4. QUOTE (scenario @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 12:08 PM) I say we nix the Jayson/Chris debate before it getz ridiculous. Woah.
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 12:00 PM) side note: If Getz still hasn't been told about the trade, after the story came out, that's pretty s***ty treatment. Not real happy with that. Ya, that'd be pretty bogus.
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 12:00 PM) Is that really true? Can someone show us some defensive metrics? I seem to remember Teahan being a solid 3b...my guess is the numbers say he isn't, which is why you have the opinion that you do. Could he really be any worse at 3rd than Gordon? He's a terrible 3b and about an average corner of.
  7. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:58 AM) Scott Podsednik returns and you see a rotation of players next year with no everyday DH. That would be bad, real bad.
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:52 AM) I personally hope we sell NIx. I don't like the way he plays the game. Really? I don't want him starting but he's a perfect bench player imo.
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:51 AM) Why do you assume Teahan wouldn't play 3rd? Cause he's a bad 3b. He wont be starting at 3rd, I'm 99 percent certain of that.
  10. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:42 AM) Here's my thought on it. Starting pitching isn't the reason we lost last year (other than Jose sucking a bunch early). It was offense and bullpen. So far we have not resigned one of our better hitters last year (and we most likely won't), picked up a guy with a .754 OPS. I know I'm freaking out, I know it's not totally logical, but I keep having visions of the following and it scares me to death. Nix 2B Beckham 3B CQ LF PK 1B Kotsay DH AJ C Rios CF Teahen RF Alexei SS AHHHHHH Starting pitching wasn't the reason we lost last season but we also didn't have Peavy and Freddy/Huddy for most of the season. Our starting pitching is going to win a lot of games for us this year no matter what. And once again, there's a negative 30 percent chance that's our lineup next season. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.
  11. As one who has said we don't have a lot of cash to throw around this offseason, I'm starting to wonder if Jerry might be willing to drop a few more bucks considering the special rotation we have. Who knows, but I guess I wouldn't be shocked.
  12. QUOTE (daggins @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:32 AM) Your 2011 #1 draft pick goes to - Chicago White Sox! 62-100 holla The top 4 in our rotation will come close to 60 wins by themselves.
  13. If we've learned anything about Kenny Williams it's that he's a very non aggressive gm. He probably wont make any other moves this offseason so it's definitely time to freak out. Wait, what?
  14. QUOTE (balfanman @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:18 AM) I would tend to agree. I'm just saying that with Kenny you can never say never. You can say never when it comes to Gordon. He's not going anywhere.

    QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 01:52 AM) Umm, Verizon f***ing blows. ??????? Verizon's fantastic.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:14 AM) Between Boras being his agent and the fact that he'll probably want a multi-year deal, I'm just not so sure he's a good fit. Did not know Boras was his agent, that obviously changes everything.
  17. QUOTE (balfanman @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:09 AM) For some reason I can't get the link to work. If someone could fix this for me it would be greatly appreciated. There ya go.
  18. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:08 AM) f*** man if Nix is at 2B and Teahen is at RF we might lose 100 games. Not going to happen. Calm down.
  19. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:05 AM) Before the offseason began I mentioned Beltre on a reclamation deal with Beckham going to 2B. I'd like that kind of move because it beefs up our IF offense and defense, and it puts Beckham in a spot where he can be elite for the next 10 years. Count me in on the Adrian Beltre bandwagon.
  20. QUOTE (G&T @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:03 AM) I wonder if there is money moving as well, which would require MLB approval. That might be the delay. Good point.
  21. So for our last exhibtion game on Saturday we get to play Southern Indiana and THE Jamar Smith. Thought some of you U of I fans might find that interesting.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 3, 2009 -> 06:13 PM) There is a big gap between their numbers. Before Danks' injury, not really. That being said, Jordan clearly isn't going to be on the 2010 opening day roster
