QUOTE (Heads22 @ Nov 28, 2009 -> 12:48 PM) Needs more West Virginia/Wake Forest. Needs more Pittsnogle. That game was fantastic but it's hard to argue any of those 10 on the list. -
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Nov 28, 2009 -> 12:22 PM) I usually see most PPVs I want to see, either MMA or boxing, because luckily I have a group of friends who are in for it, and if you split the PPV and drinks and food it usually ends up being equal to or less than going out Yeup.

QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 28, 2009 -> 01:02 PM) That's still opinion and hearsay. There is no concrete proof. Him pleading the 5th is concrete proof, I don't care what anyone says.

If I could be assured that his bat speed is still good enough, this would be one of the best signings ever. Not going to happen but I do love the idea if we could somehow convince him to do a little try out to see if his physical skills are still there.

Lets go Aggies! -
QUOTE (BFirebird @ Nov 25, 2009 -> 04:11 PM) I'm late to the party....but wouldn't the outfield be LF Crisp, CF Rios, RF Quentin be almost a certainty if Crisp is signed? It is the most logical. You're forgetting who our manager is.
-
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 24, 2009 -> 06:49 PM) But, then we are assuming someone else is going to improve? It's all the roll of the dice in many cases They're both huge ? offensively but you know you're getting better defense, better baserunning and a much lower price tag with Crisp.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 24, 2009 -> 04:46 PM) You think Garcia will be a good starter? He hasn't pitched a full season in quite some time. Well our top 4 are already better than pretty much everyone in baseball at this point and we also have 2 pretty damn good candidates for the 5th starter, which not a lot of teams can say either.
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 24, 2009 -> 03:19 PM) Crisp is an OK solution, for cheap, and likely to spring back. However, I'd feel a lot better about it if we end up acquiring a big bat for DH/1B., or maybe two if we trade Konerko. If we don't, I'm not so sure. Well ya, we'd definitely still need to acquire a big bat to put in the middle of the lineup. I'm fine with taking on Crisp because I'd love the defensive upgrade but him leading off would still scare me a bit.

QUOTE (Hawkfan @ Nov 24, 2009 -> 03:21 PM) I know I am late but... Omar Vizquel.. What the f*** is this f***n s***? Back up IF who plays very good defense at positions where our defense is a big ?
-
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 24, 2009 -> 03:00 PM) I am not sure any stats that are used in these comparisons are all that valid. I find it interesting thought that you are willing to dismiss one set of fielding stats and accept another. Fielding percentage for an of is completely useless unless you have Soriano out there.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Nov 24, 2009 -> 02:47 PM) <!--quoteo(post=2048467:date=Nov 24, 2009 -> 11:23 AM:name=witesoxfan)-->QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 24, 2009 -> 11:23 AM) <!--quotec-->Frank Thomas was the second best hitter in the 1990s and the best right handed hitter of the 1990s. The fact that he testified in Congress during the steroid discussion and was the only active player who was never accused nor caught using steroids to help in coming up with the Mitchell Report. As funny as this will sound, Frank Thomas's character, along with his on the field accomplishments of course, is what is going to get him into the Hall of Fame, and it should be on the first ballot. Frank's ranks amongst all players with 4000+ PA between '90 and '99: H: 11th (1564) 2B: 11th (317) HR: 9th (301) the list ahead of him is just sad: Canseco, Palmeiro, Sosa, J. Gonzalez, Belle, Bonds, Griffey, McGwire RBI: 6th (1040) Only 59 behind the leader: Albert Belle BB: 2nd (1076) #1: Bonds IBB: 3rd (133) Griffey and Bonds ahead of him AVG: 4th (.320) #3 Edgar Martinez, #2 Mike Piazza and #1 Tony Gwynn OBP: 1st (.440) #2 Bonds at .432 OPS: 3rd (1.013) #2 McGwire, #1 Bonds. Frank finished 23 points back up Bonds but 47 points ahead of #4 Mike Piazza RC: 2nd (1292) #1 Bonds in runs created Wow, just awesome.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 24, 2009 -> 02:38 PM) He basically had the award locked up by mid-June. Prime Ken Griffey Jr. is the best player I've ever seen. Pujols is a close second. Keep in mind I'm leaving out proven/suspected steroid users. Otherwise my top two would be Bonds/Rodriguez. Jr. also had the whole best defensive player at a prime defensive position going for him in his prime. He was just insane back in the day.
-
QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Nov 24, 2009 -> 01:26 PM) Pujols unanimously wins the NL MVP; 2nd MVP in a row for him, and 3rd overall. He's good.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 23, 2009 -> 03:22 PM) With three very small moves, Williams has upgraded both the White Sox infield offense and the defense off of the bench too, and it seems to me that they are looking much better all-around already. Teahen is an improvement over Getz/Nix offensively and if he can put up anything similar to either his 2009 or 2007 season, Sox fans should be happy. Now you bring in a player in Vizquel who is fundamentally fantastic, plays fantastic defense, and isn't going to embarrass himself as a hitter so long as it's off of the bench, and Kotsay is just fine off of the bench as a 1B/OF type, so long as he remains in the corner outfield spots and doesn't start too much. He can also pinch run for Konerko or whoever else late in games, and that may buy the Sox an extra couple runs throughout the entirety of a season. I have absolutely no problems with what Williams has done at all this offseason. Yeup, slowly but surely upgrading this team. Obviously he's still got a lot of work to do but he's off to a good start.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 23, 2009 -> 02:58 PM) Now we should leave Beckham at third, Omar at ss, Lexi at second and Teahen our do everything reserve. Omar plays for us one year then the following year we get another vet ss. It makes perfect sense. Teahen is not the answer at 3B, but he is a great great utility guy. Cmon Sox, do the right thing. Lexi should be our second baseman for the next 10 years. Gordon is great at third. Uh... no on everything.
-
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Nov 23, 2009 -> 01:54 PM) Well, the Gold Gloves are voted on by the Managers and Coaches and not the BBWAA like the MVP and CY so they don't really go hand in hand IMO. Touche. Didn't even think about it that way.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 23, 2009 -> 02:54 PM) Rowand getting traded was what shocked me. I just didn't even see it as a possibility that KW would deal him. Obviously, I've learned over time that KW would sell out his own family if it meant making the team better. lol, fair enough.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 23, 2009 -> 01:22 PM) After Pujols win the NL MVP, I think this might be the first time in my almost 20 years as a hardcore baseball fan that I haven't had a single issue with any of the award winners. Very true. Besides a few gold gloves, the awards have been very well deserved this year.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 23, 2009 -> 02:49 PM) I'll never forget when I first learned of the Thome trade on the radio. You hear the word 'shocked' all the time. But I can honestly say I was in complete and utter shock when I first heard. Really? I mean, I was completely overjoyed but I don't think shocked is the word I'd use personally as the Thome was one of the few trades that was rumored for a while.
-
QUOTE (ozzfest @ Nov 23, 2009 -> 12:38 PM) I know people are going to tell me that Kenny isn't close to being done or that I'm jumping the gun,

This fight needs to happen. Neither fighter really has a choice to be honest, they're both just so much better than everyone else at this point. Take a 50-50 split and lets get this thing going.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 21, 2009 -> 10:02 PM) We would have already folded after that 18-2 run last year. We're already a lot better than last year but you're right, we need to learn to close games out TODAY. And that's exactly what happened in the 2nd half here. Good f***in job guys. f***
