So whoever remembers that 06-07 team. Ya, we're completely anti that. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 21, 2009 -> 10:00 PM) Both Freeman's with a good first half. Last year, we couldn't close games like this out in the 2nd half. Hopefully that is where we improved. We would have already folded after that 18-2 run last year. We're already a lot better than last year but you're right, we need to learn to close games out TODAY. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 21, 2009 -> 09:57 PM) Salukis hanging tough with UNLV, leading 37-34 at the half. I am only listening to the webcast of the game, but Teague sounds like he is going to be very solid. I wish Evans could stop with the silly fouls so he could stay in the game longer, but thats on him. Tony Freeman seems like he wants to take this game on his shoulders No one but the Freeman's has showed up so far. Crazy f***in first half. Book and Nick definitely need to stop with the silly god damn fouling and Kevin needs to wake the f*** up, he needs to score, period. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 21, 2009 -> 07:37 PM) Anyone know anything about UNLV? Here's a decent preview of the game: http://www.thereporteronline.net/atf.php?sid=18325 In short, they're a really talented team with a lot of newcomers(sound famililiar?) and a lot of that talent comes from the transfer route(Stanback and Jasper were both 4 star recruits who originally went to UCLA and Kentucky respectively and Tre'von Willis was the 45th ranked sg out of hs and originally went to Memphis). Should be quite the test for us. I'm expecting a loss cause it's on the road but we certainly have the talent to win this one, I just don't know if we're ready for this yet. Prove me wrong, Dawgs! -
QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Nov 21, 2009 -> 05:39 PM) Wise Guys is awesome when you're drunk and I think I have a slice every weekend. But cmon, DiMaggios is the best pizza in C'dale hands down. Couldn't agree more. By far my favorite pizza in the Dale.
-
QUOTE (SnB @ Nov 21, 2009 -> 12:04 PM) what was that crappy pizza i had w/ you at 4am in carbondale? that was phenomenal I'm not 100 percent sure but I assume it was Wise Guys.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 21, 2009 -> 09:32 AM) Of all of the other pizza places in Carbondale, my order of top 4 would be Quatros, Paglaia's, Italian Village, and then Wise Guys. Wise guys had the awesome 20 inch pizza, but when you are s***-hammered drunk that pizza just isnt as good as you thought it was. Other places I absolutely loved were the Bubble Tea place, Don Taco, and El Greco. This is my 5th year in Carbondale and I've still never had Paglaia's . Italian Village is absolutely delicious and you're right about Wise Guys, absolutely great when you're hammered but f***in gross when you're sober.

So how about that Wesley Johnson, heads? -
Just back into Chicago literally 15 minutes ago and am already eating some pizza from Lou's. Best pizza ever.

If you're an NFL GM, what round would you pick Lebron?

QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 19, 2009 -> 04:44 PM) There is a school of thought out there that says that while size in receivers/tes is important, there's a point where you actually can be too tall to be effective. Usually over 6'6". Probably because a lot of them lose coordination. If Lebron runs a legit 4.4 then you got a guy that's 6'8" with a 4.4 40 and a 40+ vertical, there's just too much physical talent there to not be a top 5 pick, I don't care if he never played football in his life(and has been pointed out in this thread, he has). -

Dayton pulls it out by 4. Sorry Fathom. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 19, 2009 -> 12:35 PM) Ya, I don't necessarily agree with those people. The good thing is, both have crazy high upside and thats a good thing. The next question is can our coaches help them develop and will they put in the time it takes to develop. I certainly hope so!!! I just love the fact that one of Mitchell's better qualities seems to be on base abilities. Mix that with his athleticism and you have a chance for a special player and I'm not even considering all the other tools he has.

QUOTE (ozzfest @ Nov 19, 2009 -> 12:23 PM) i think he runs a 4.4 If really runs a 4.4 then he'd be a top 5 pick. -

Dayton up 9 on Georgia Tech at the half. Wish there was somewhere on tv/internet to watch this one. -
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 18, 2009 -> 08:01 PM) I suspect he's #3. I'd put Buehrle at two and Ozzie doesn't slot back to back LHP's. Peavy Buehrle Floyd Danks Garcia. I think Wite just means he's our 4th best pitcher. Anyways, to start the season it'll probably be: Buehrle, Peavy, Danks, Floyd, Garcia in that order anyways.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 18, 2009 -> 06:38 PM) Given the difference in talent level and seeding, I completely disagree with this. Had we beat SIU it would have been far from ho-hum IMO. I would have been shocked. Justin would have been swimming in alcohol and depression. He wouldn't have talked to me for years. Had SIU won, business as usual as that's what was supposed to happen. That SIU team was legit and didn't need some in-state game to prove anything. Actually, they would have had almost nothing to gain in the game, really. The Kansas game was where they had something to gain. And I feel that even in a loss, they gained a ton. Ya I agree with pretty much everything. I know that year a lot of SIU fans wanted us to play Illinois to prove something. Personally, I didn't care about proving anything against Illinois(which as you said, we were just better that year, so whatever), I just wanted to win, I didn't care who the f*** we were playing. And ya, losing that game to Illinois would have destroyed me but not because it was against the Illini but because are season was over. You talked to me directly after the Kansas game so you know how that was, it would have been the same reaction from me. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 18, 2009 -> 07:06 PM) is it any different now? Hey, this isn't the make fun of Row for being a drunk thread. -

QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Nov 17, 2009 -> 09:35 PM) I like this team a lot more than last year's. Tonight wasn't the best game but we looked solid. We'll get the true judge of this team @ UNLV on saturday We can certainly score this year. Perimeter d needs to get better, Nick and Anthony need to learn to catch, we still need to rebound a lot better and some of our stars need to shoot a lot more(looking at you Kevin) but ya, this team is a lot better than last years. Looking forward to Saturday, hoping we can correct some of those flaws and steal a win in Vegas. -

I've stayed out of the whole ISU-Illinois stuff because I agree with Felix that's it's just annoying. But I will say that if anyone honestly believes that ISU would only have a 10 percent chance of beating Illinois, especially in Normal, well that's just crazy. But anywho, I'm off to go watch our 2nd game at the arena. Go Dawgs! -

The UCLA-Fullerton game is very entertaining for all the wrong reasons. -
QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 10:35 PM) I also wonder if a Linebrink-for-Burrell deal is a possibility. Burrell had a terrible season last year and the Rays are looking to move him. We'd get out of Linebrink's 2011 option that way and would only be increasing our payroll by $4M in 2010 with that deal. But the Sox would have to think they could get Burrell back on track, and the Rays would have to think they could get Linebrink back on track. I like the outside the box thinking on that one. That would have never crossed my mind but that's an interesting idea. Does Pat's contract end at the end of this season?

QUOTE (longshot7 @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 05:48 PM) I don't want to come across as overly critical, but this is such a ridiculous story. Teams have preliminary talks about players all the time - how is this newsworthy? Konerko would be a horrible trade for the Angels and they have no need of him. I know this is the offseason and we don't have a lot to talk about, but can we refrain from this silly trade talk? It comes off very Cub fan-like. Indeed. Who talks about potential acquisitions in the offseason? Sooooo Cub fan-like. We might as well just shut down the board until March.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 04:00 PM) I'd wager Sheets is going to Texas. It seems like the popular theory and it makes logistical sense. Didn't he sign with Texas last season and proceeded to fail his physical or did I just make that up?

QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 04:02 PM) We just have to get used to the fact we are going to trade minor leaguers, our top prospects. It's OK to do that, I just wish we wouldn't hear so much about our prospects, if we're ultimately going to deal them away. It used to be you didn't hear much about prospects. Unless they are named Beckham or have Beckham like talent, we apparently will deal our top prospects. Nothing's wrong with that, but it is a shock to the system when we trade guys we hear so much about. Um, really? Anywho, if we needed to trade both Huddy and Flowers to get AGon, I'd do it in a heartbeat as long as we're shedding Pauly's contract as well. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of both Dan and Tyler(especially Hudson) but if you can add Gonzalez and give Kenny some payroll flexibility, you'd really have a shot at something special this season. Like real special.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 01:49 PM) Why do people think of Pena as a low ceiling guy? He is a guy that if he realizes his potential could be a closer for us. Will that happen, I don't know. Ya, low ceiling definitely isn't the term to use to describe Pena.
