  1. If Alexei hit that tag he was out. He might have whiffed though.
  2. So watching the Buehrle tribute, what's more impressive, that Buehrle could go a whole game with out allowing a hit/walk or that our defense went a whole game with out committing an error?
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 17, 2009 -> 01:38 PM) When all you have to do is be 3 games above .500 in a 19 game stretch, and you can throw out Peavy, Buehrle, Floyd, Danks, you've got a shot at dominating every time. Exactly.
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 17, 2009 -> 01:32 PM) I don't understand this statement. We have been inconsistent all year long. What would change in the post season when we face the opposing team's best pitchers? This team seems to focus much more against really good teams(Dodgers, Rays, Yankees, Angels), that guy named Jake Peavy might help a little bit too.
  5. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 17, 2009 -> 01:21 PM) Underachievers. This team has absolutely no business not winning this crap division, but we've given away an incredible amount of games. It feels amazingly like 2003, as someone mentioned before. Just like in 2003, we have a talented team with a very good pitching rotation (although our offense isn't as good this year, but our pitching staff will be better when Peavy gets back), but I think we're going to miss a golden opportunity to make the playoffs. Also, like in 2003, I think this team could make a serious run if it just found a way to get in. That about sums it up.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 15, 2009 -> 02:53 PM) How's this for logic? He got the game winning hit LATE against the Yankees. The guy says he should never be up late in a game, period. That hit was recent. So LOGIC SAYS in my logic textbook that yes indeed Wise can and should be up late in games. How can my logic fail in this one? Are you serious? If I was wrong here I'd admit it. I am going by LOGIC in my argument. He got a winning hit late in a game, thus he can bat late in games. The poster said he NEVER SHOULD bat late in a game. No, it's terrible logic. Everyone can deliver a hit now and then. The fact is, that hit against the Yankees is his only hit in close and late situations this season(I'm not exaggerating, that's literally his only one). He's a terrible baseball player and he's just as bad in the late innings.
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 12:36 AM) Why is it that when I'm awake I never want to go to bed and when I'm asleep I never want to get up? This world is CRAZY. I'm definitely the same way.
  8. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 02:08 PM) Yes. That Cardinal team was at one point 16 games above .500. Were the 2009 White Sox ever 16 games above .500? Not even close. That's why you can't compare the two teams. They only finished with just 83 wins because they went on an uncharacteristic slide and lost 8 of 9 during the last two weeks of the season. Pretty much every day from May to early September they were between 10 and 16 games above .500. In retrospect I think they resemble an 87-89 game winner way more than they resemble an 83 game winner. The 2006 Cardinals also didn't add an ace to their rotation like we potentially can if Peavy comes back healthy. If you go into the playoffs with: Peavy, Buehrle, Gavin, Danks, you have a chance.
  9. QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 09:11 AM) Playoff rotation of Peavy Buehrle Danks Floyd I think we just have to get there. Ding ding ding
  10. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 12:50 AM) Carrasco and Williams. Gracias sir.
  11. Following a 14 inning 0-0 game on your phone is just no fun. Internet seems better.
  12. When Freddy was in Bristol he was in the 87-88 range with his heater.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 07:22 PM) I think his best move was the Peavy trade. He paid pennies to the dollar for an ace. Could definitely become his best, no doubt. The dumbass horse for Pods is the best imo at this moment, just because it accomplished so much.
  14. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 10:38 PM) Here's Holmberg's final line from the suspended game. Might have covered this before. Bristol Player IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA Holmberg, D 4.0 2 0 0 2 3 0 3.78 One of my buddies was scouting the Bristol game the other night, he said Holmberg was absolutely dominant.
  15. QUOTE (kev211 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 12:38 PM) Defense aside Beckham's bat is more valuable at SS. There is no arguing against this point its a fact. Well we're not trading him anytime soon and this isn't fantasy baseball, so right now he's more valuable at 3rd for the White Sox and that's all that matters.
  16. I think it's also noteworthy to say that Gavin has his era under 4 for the first time since his opening start.
  17. Gordon has plate discipline. Jeff had absolutely none. The end.
  18. I think game 2 of the 2005 World Series wins that one for me.
  19. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 04:26 PM) I think Richard could be the best out of the bunch. I think he will be. As far as Huddy, I think this trade actually gives him a better chance of cracking the rotation next season.
  20. Some people think we overpaid? Really? We managed to grab an ace with out giving up Huddy, Flowers, Danks or Viciedo. This wasn't even close to an overpay, this was a genius move by Kenny. Absolute genius.
  21. Injury or not, this is amazingness. Peavy, Buehrle, Danks, Floyd. Wow, f***in nasty, I'm f***in thrilled. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY. SOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY.
  22. So far this trading season, it seems like teams are vastly overpaying or vastly underpaying, no middle ground at all.
  23. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 01:34 PM) I don't get all the talk of getting ANOTHER reliever. Its just not something the team needs, at all. I mean if you can upgrade there, fine, but the Sox pen, despite some recent struggles, is still one of the best in baseball. I would have said it was the best in baseball a few months ago. Now, it absolutely scares the crap out of me. Absolutely everyone is struggling, I would love to add another reliever for the right price(not D2).
  24. QUOTE (3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 01:29 PM) I don't think Ricciardi is that screwed. If he doesn't get what he wants he can always make a move in the offseason Halladay's value goes down a ton if he's not traded in the next hour and a half. Riccardi really does screw himself if he doesn't get something done.
