  1. Tyler Flowers hit another homer. Kid's a monster.
  2. I think we can all agree that Nix has to play against lefties. And if there is one thing I have faith in Ozzie to do, it's to play his right handed bench players against left handed pitching. I think it'll work out just fine.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 08:46 PM) Honestly, unless we offer up Poreda/Richard in a package again as we acquire a big time starter, nothing makes sense. Exactly my thinking.
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 08:44 PM) Am I the only one that gets nervous whenever Beckham gets set to throw? I'll 2nd that.
  5. QUOTE (rangercal @ Jul 2, 2009 -> 12:26 PM) That's a beautiful set of young core guys. I remember a lot of chicken little's (not just this board, White Sox fans in general) just a couple years ago panicking about the lack of youth. I will never doubt Kenny Williams. This organization looked like it was in a whole world of trouble in 2007. Two years later, the future has never looked better. We already have a very nice young core in the majors, not to mention this is the best farm system we've had in years. Kenny definitely changed the whole tide of this organization in just 2 seasons, just awesome.
  6. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 08:35 AM) I wonder what the Angels were offering? AZ should be in rebuilding mode and could get an aweful lot by trading Haren. But I guess its similar to our 2007 season when KW opted not to trade Buerhle during the teams worst season of this decade. Different situations. Buehrle was a free agent after that season(before we re-signed him, obviously), Haren is signed for a long time still. The DBacks should be building around him, not trading him, unless of course they're absolutely blown away by an offer.
  7. QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 11:20 AM) I just don't see the CQ equation that some of you see, how does: Mediocre to Average, then a little injury + Really Sucky, then major injury = Coming back and Mashing and Saving the offense? I'd almost say there's as big a chance him coming back would actually HURT the line-up. Especially if you have a bunch of guys clicking like Dye, Paulie, Becks, Ramirez et al. You stick Carlos back in and he strikes out or grounds into double plays killing innings and such. They just just shelve him for the season now, and hope against hope he can come back healthy in 2010. The team is doing okay with out him so far, and he wasn't exactly lighting up the world before his DL stint.... There is absolutely no way CQ can come back and hurt the lineup. I'm with you on the fact that I don't expect him to come back and be the 08 TCQ right away but he'd be replacing Wise/BA and he's better than those two with one arm and one leg, offensively. Defense is another story.
  8. QUOTE (RibbieRubarb @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 01:03 PM) That thread is amazing (as are most old threads) The hate for Crede and Konerko. Trade for Vinny Castilla?!? LMAO I had a great post in that thread ::slaps own back:: The 05 threads are quite entertaining to read when you consider how good that team was and how many people thought we needed some drastic changes to compete.
  9. So I hear good things about this Gordon Beckham guy.
  10. Flowers has his ops all the way up to .971. Awesomeness.
  11. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jun 29, 2009 -> 08:10 PM) I don't think we need a great deal to move Pods. If some team came along and offered us a package including a young power arm who has produced in Low-A or higher, and/or a young toolsy position player who has produced at Low-A or higher, then I make that deal if our scouts like those players. It's pretty simple, if we're still in it at the trade deadline then pods isn't going anywhere. If we're out of it, Pods will get dealt for the best possible package as there would be no point to keep him.
  12. You can't take Alexei out of 2 hole. He's hitting .301 with a .358 obp and 8 homers since batting 2nd. Eventually, I'd agree that Beckham is going to be moving up in the order but 2nd isn't the right spot at this point.
  13. He's frustrating as hell out there. That being said, lets not forget that he made 2 plays yesterday that no one else on the team would have had a chance for. I think you have to stick with him at short, he's got too much potential as a shortstop to move him out of there during his first full season playing there.

    ozzie

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 26, 2009 -> 06:21 PM) But why did it have to be a catcher in that position? Ozzie has always done that. Can you even remember a time where he put in a pinch hitter that plays a different position than the player he's hitting for? I really can't.

    ozzie

Marmol's complete garbabe, I would have preferred the Castro-Marmol matchup but you really can't fault Ozzie for putting in AJ in that situation. The move that still makes me shake my head is pinch hitting Fields for Beckham. I don't understand that one at all.
  16. QUOTE (Cali @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 11:04 AM) Ugh.... Poreda = The Future Richard = Middle Relief Clayton should be able to become a solid back of the rotation starter. Nothing special, but there's nothing wrong with having a young, cheap, solid left handed starter at the back of your rotation.
  17. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 10:52 AM) I'd be surprised if he reaches 20 this year unless he changes his approach. Pitchers are going to be throwing him more and more breaking balls away, and until he realizes he has to go the other way with those pitches, he won't be hitting anything out. Hopefully he realizes that what made him such a good hitter in 08 was because he didn't try and hit the home runs. Last year he saw ball and hit ball, and he went with the pitches. Well considering he has 6 homers this month, he's apparently made the adjustment needed to get his homerun power back.

    Soxtalk Pets

3 cats at my moms house and 1 at my dads. Cats are awesome.
  19. Of course it'd be a little f***in blooper. f***
  20. Keep Thornton in, please. Also, I can't believe we would just waste Jim Thome like that. That is unbelievable.
