QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 11:06 PM) I hate the 1972 Dolphins, and with that said, the Patriots are amazingly lucky. I mean the damn game was over but for the Ravens calling a timeout and killing their own clinching play. Wow. Teams this good always seem to find ridiculous and lucky ways to win at times. That was just pure crazyness though tonight.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 10:08 PM) Ya, they have it now so that if you apply by the early admission deadline which was like November something, you get automatically notified on December 14th. What's crazier you being a senior or the toddler of the board (me) going to college? Where has all the time gone?

Sox Acquire Carlos Quentin for Chris Carter; DFA Heath Phillips
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 03:59 PM) I don't understand how this compares to the Lee/Pods deal at all. KW said that was a baseball move, but it really wasn't; it merely freed some payroll up and allowed the Sox to bring in 2-3 more good, cheap players into the mix. That's just dumb to compare it to Lee/Pods, but maybe that's just me personally. I agree with you. Maybe he meant by getting Quentin we don't have to spend money on two of's and thus have money freed for other holes? Overall though, it's nothing like the Lee-Pods trade.

A Johan Santana trade might be dependent on the status of Francisco Li
QUOTE(That funky motion @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 10:59 AM) Hank Steinbrenner: And if the Yankees are to be a part of trade talks, "now" means by Monday, according to Steinbrenner, who said: "The Twins are aware of it, that I'm not going to wait much longer. And the truth of the matter is, they don't want to be stuck with only one team to deal with. If they're stuck with just Boston, they're going to get a lot less. I'm not going to be played. This is not a game. This is serious business. I'm not going to be played, us against the Red Sox. That's not going to happen." Ya, and ARod will never be a Yankee again either.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 08:59 PM) I am a whitesox fan. I hope that every marquee player on every AL Central team moves on to the National League. Hopefully CC finds his way to the NL next year as well. Thats a whole lot of guaranteed losses out of our season right there. Ya, that.

I really don't think Illinois will get blown out but I've been god awful at predicting anything this season. Congrats to the Illini though, good stuff. Feel bad for Mizzou, they definitely should be in a bcs game.

Well that's our 4th loss at home in like the last 7 years, so no matter what, that shows how good IU is, to come into Carbondale and beat the crap out of us. IU is a really, really good team and much better than us at the moment. I haven't looked at the box score but when you go 1 for 14 or 15 or whatever from 3, you're not going to win many games, I don't care who you are playing. Shaw and Bone both had some really good looks and couldn't hit crap, they're both in horrible shooting slumps at the moment. As of now, if Shaw and Bone are making shots then we're a pretty good team but if they aren't, we're pretty awful. Besides the horrific shooting, one of the more frusterating things to me last night was the way coach Lowery handled his rotations. I love CLo and he's a terrific coach but sometimes you need to change some things up. Brandon Wood and Carlton Fay are two of our more talented offensive players and two of our best shooters. They needed to play, especially Wood. I'm not sure what the hell Brandon has done in practice or what not but when he's played in games, he's been terrific. It would have been nice to have arguably our best 3 point shooter out there against a zone when nobody on the court could hit a jump shot to save their life. I'm pissed off about these guys right now but there will be better days ahead for this team, I'm sure of it.

Favorite Pictures / Mag Covers from Baseball
The Frank-Griffey cover is badass. It's also hard to beat the Rowand picture that Kalapse posted, that was the first picture I thought of when I got into this thread.

Well, huge game tomorrow. We kind of need to win this one now after the beat down on Sunday. That game was absolutely pathetic but it was just one of those days, something the team needs to let go(took me 5 days but I'm almost over it). No one is going to shoot 65 percent against us again and we're not going to shoot 32 percent again, that game was just nuts. Give credit to USC and Tim Floyd though, Floyd had a great game plan and basically used Tyrone Green against us as they left him wide open and just double teamed Randal every time he touched the ball. Anyways, hopefully we're ready to go and hopefully Clemmons is back as we missed him a ton on Sunday.

QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 25, 2007 -> 07:17 PM) Didn't realize Illinois was that high in BCS rankings. Wouldn't matter, don't see Michigan or Illinois beating the Pac 10 champ. There's a possibility that the Pac 10 winner could be UCLA.

Ok, sorry for the moronic question here but I'm new to the Hockey scoring system. Do the Hawks get a point for that? I'd assume they do but not sure.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 24, 2007 -> 11:37 PM) I've been impressed by Les as a coach, and if he wasn't an alum, you think he'd get hired away in the near future. It still pains me to see the guy I really wanted, Turgeon, get off to a hot start at aTm. I do think UNI is headed back into mediocrity, though. We'll see how Les does this year, some BU fans like him and some don't(but I guess for the most part it's like that with a lot of fan bases and coaches). Bird man certainly inherited a nice team there at A&M, he was pretty much thought of as a god by Wichita State fans before he bolted, now he's the devil. Agreed on UNI.
