QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 11:08 AM) A guy hits the ball of the the dirt in front of the plate and as he runs towards first the ball hits him and he is called out. How do you score this play? thanks. My scoring software gives an option of hit by batted ball. I when scoring by hand use HBB and give the putout to the nearest fielder which would be the catcher in this case.

QUOTE(Goldmember @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 11:13 PM) oh yeah, a lot of moving around this week. jeffy took a big hit in the standings knocking him outta chase contenders for now--making me even happier. biffle was also knocked out of the top 10. martin, burton & kahne took some smaller hits and jimmie lost a bunch of ground... I figured if movement was going to happen it would be Daytona. Kahne had a good car but was caught in the wrong draft and a couple of poor pitstops he finishes 25th. Another track he could have still got a top 10 easy. Suprised by the few early problems It was rather calm for Daytona until the end.

QUOTE(Goldmember @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 10:59 PM) bad week once again for my picks, but jr. had an alright week--jumping 2 spots in the standings--so i'm a happy camper... My mistake (Boris Said) ended up getting me a 342 point week on Fantasy. And Tony is up to 5th again I was becoming very worried but this and a lot of the challengers having a tough week helps

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 02:27 PM) Angel Pagan. That's all that needs to be said. He had a whopping 8 career minor league homers. -

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 09:38 PM) I'm glad Lumsden is pitching well. Trust me when I suggest there's nothing I would love more than to be proven wrong with our pitching prospects. It only helps for contributing arms to emerge from within the system. I recall when the Thome trade occured someone (whether it's Randar or Chisox) commenting on concerns with Gonzalez's small figure. Past injuries nonwithstanding, Lumsden has a 6'4 frame with a relatively easy delivery. Good future ahead if he can remain healthy; whether that's in the rotation or bullpen. Comparing Lumsden and Gonzalez is interesting. It's as if both seem to have qualities the other doesn't. Lumsden has a better ERA (more than a run), 14 less walks, 10 less HR's allowed (although the park or competition may play a role) with merely 3 more innings pitched. Gonzalez, however, has given up 10 less hits and struck out 48 more batters. Considering the difference in earned runs (11), it's surprising only 10 hits separates Gio from Lumsden. I'll take a guess Gio doesn't fare too well with RISP or other tight situations. The Hoover Met I am sure plays a role in it. Reading's park is only 320 down the lines and 370 to the power allys. While the Met is 340 and 385 to the power allys. Oppostion is only batting .228 against Gio so I think the walks and park is most likely the difference. Still the Sox's got a big time power hitter who is having a great season so it was a great trade.

I rode the Titan at Six Flags Texas in 2002 on my senior trip. On the very top when they stop I could see 2nd base of the Ball Park in Arlington or what ever its named. It started down I couldn't even see the bottom and I made a deal with myself if I made it through it I would never ride another coaster again. After it was done and I got out I couldn't even stand up had to be taken to the care center there but after awhile I was fine. Of course what made it all better is that night I went to the Sox's Rangers game that night and we won!!!

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 02:58 PM) Big Frank just broke up Batista's no-hitter with a two run shot. But my Dbacks got the win and won there first series since June 4th in Atlanta. Frank also went down as the D-Backs 10,000 K on Friday. QUOTE(Goldmember @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 03:57 PM) Frank also homered today and broke up the Brandon Webb shutout. But Webby still beat Zito with a complete game masterpiece.

Wow this is shocking RIP Randy Something like this happened to the Chairperson of my law program I was taking. It happened just before Christmas Break last year, I seen him as I was leaving the Friday Night before the break I remember him saying have a good break and I said same to you and he talked about being real excited because he was going hunting and his kids were coming home and they were bringing the little grand babies along also. The Next morning his son found him dead of a heart attack in his tree stand at the age of 48. When I was told about it I didn't believe it he was very fit ran every day was only 48 and I just seen him at 10:00 PM the night before (which was only 8 hours before he died) he looked perfectly fine.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 10:22 PM) Well, let's see. He's left-handed, and he doesn't allow a lot of homers... Now, the bad: * His K/BB ratio is pretty bad. A little over a week ago, it was almost 1-to-1. Right now, it's about 1.26 K's/BB, which is, like I said, bad. * His hit rate isn't great, either. His WHIP is around 1.43 -- again, nothing special. * His ERA is 4.00 in Birmingham. Jason, Tom, or someone who has seen Liotta before -- how does his stuff rate? As of this point, he seems (IMO) to project to a lefty reliever, if he can make it that far. Then again, TINSTAAPP can be applied here too... I got to see him a little this spring, I though he had good stuff but he seems to control issues. Tonight he walked 4 batters in 2 innings and now has 45 BB compared to just 51K's which is also a problem I think if he were a high K pitcher then you can work out of the walks but he is getting around K every two innings. He also allows more hits that innings pitched which combined with the walks and low K's spells trouble and the high whip shows that. a 4 ERA at the Met is like a 5 in other parks so take it with a grain of salt. It is hard to tell what he could be yet he might need the second year at AA maybe he will get it together. Also like to add that Broadway and Lummy are doing good at AA ball.

Flag burning amendment headed to Senate floor.

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 09:13 PM) http://www.news.com.au/story/0,10117,19615409-23109,00.html Senate blocks the amendment by one vote. A bunch of Congressional aides were saying that a lot of the Senators didn't like the bill but knew that it was a cheap campaign ploy for midterm elections and didn't want to get slimed with ads misrepresenting their stance. Yay Nay for each Senator: Durbin: Nay Obama: Nay http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll...on=2&vote=00189 From TFA: "Countless men and women have died defending that flag," said Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., closing two days of debate. "It is but a small humble act for us to defend it." "Our country's unique because our dissidents have a voice," said Sen. Daniel Inouye, D-Hawaii. "While I take offense at disrespect to the flag," he said, "I nonetheless believe it is my continued duty as a veteran, as an American citizen, and as a United States senator to defend the constitutional right of protesters to use the flag in nonviolent speech." Ten-point Toss-up: Which Senator above lost an arm in military service to this country, and received the Medal of Honor? Hint--it's not Frist. I agree with this vote. I really have the same sentiments that Sen. Inouye has which is I think it is wrong to burn a flag and would not do it myself but flag burning is a form of free speech and free speech must be protected. To able to have freedom in this country you are going to have to want it bad and that means dealing with a person who shouts at the top of his lungs something that you would spend a life time opposing. You want free speech then you have to deal with all that goes along with it including flag burning. -

QUOTE(minors @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 07:53 PM) Execution Well no more countdown needed bye bye thug. So much for him saying he couldn't be killed because he was an angel. One less thug on this planet. To the State of Texas Is that enough for the death talk, he might have deserved to die but there is no need for countdowns and this cheering. -
Look out Phily the 3rd place Marlins are coming fast. One game back even in the Loss column

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 09:21 PM) Minor League Manager doing his best Lou Piniella impression Click on the link below for a hilarious video of a Minor League manager doing his best Lou Piniella impression on an umpire. As good as this was, it still wasn't as good as the show Wally Backman put on a few years ago in Birmingham. Wally's show was similar, but it was at 3B. The base went much farther when he threw it. As he walked to the plate, the bat boy had put baseballs on home plate since the home plate umpire was out trying to calm down Wally. Wally kicked the four baseballs like a FG attempt. Then add about a dozen more bats, two water coolers and the gum/seed bucket and you have Wally's show. Nonetheless, this is worth the look. That is what I thought of when I seen this on SC. Wally's was far better it happened in 2003 I believe he got what a 5 game suspension it was funny all in all.

QUOTE(minors @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 11:07 PM) Why don't you stay away from this forum, you really have no clue on politics. This is not an insult just so the mods know. But seriously you are so far out of the real world it isn't funny so as a helpful hint please either get some idea on politics or leave the debating to the experts. Again not meant to be an insult What have I ever said to warrant that statement. I would like to know because it is baffling me, I know I am not an expert on politics and never said so.

QUOTE(minors @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 10:53 PM) Well it was started by liberals and how he was declining of course everyone said it was such great news so I am certainly going to use it to my advantage. Seems like liberals can't handle the numbers so they have to attack the messenger which is a typical liberal tactic In that whole post I didn't see anything in response to what Abe said. All I see is more liberal bashing.

For Malone not only 8 shutout but only 3 singles and 3 walks. From the 1st inning you could tell he had his electric stuff by K'ing the side.

QUOTE(dasox24 @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 01:16 PM) Was he hurt for a while or was he just so un-noteworthy that he fell completely under the radar. Hell, until a few weeks ago, it had been quite some time since I had seen any reports on LaMura. Well he for some reason just didn't trust his stuff. He has one of the best breaking pitches in the system and a good heater. But for the life of me I can't figure out why he didn't trust himself. It appers as if he is doing that now and the results are showing.
