I am not sure how a boycott will help there cause, I believe that if that an Immigrant starts on the road to citizenship and agrees to a payment plan on back taxes then I have no problems with them staying otherwise they are breaking the law and should be dealt with.

QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 06:44 PM) Razor Shines seems to be a pretty good manager. Sweeney is coming around, Rogowski is hitting well, Haeger, Lopez, etc. This could be a really good team. Especially if Sean Tracey throws a few more strikes and Jerry Owens starts hitting. Razor impressed me the most in 2004 when he took a Barons team that had no prospect talent and defeated teams like Montgomery who had Gaithwright, Upton and a Huntsville who had Gwynn, Fielder and Weeks plus Mobile who had Ben Johnson and Josh Barfield. Getting that team to the playoffs with that much talent on the other teams was amazing.

BHAMBARONS replied to maggsmaggs's topic in The Diamond Club
He and Elijah Dukes did always hung out together always away from their teamates. And we all know about Dukes past. -
Pollok must be hanging the slider because he got lit up like he did early last year. Grand Slam to Elliot Johnson

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 05:49 AM) Another guy, I've long had an interest in, is Scott Hairston. He's never going to make it on the D-Backs. Currently they have Gonzo, Green, Byrnes and DaVanon as outfielders, with Upton, Young, Gonzales and Quentin in the minor leagues. He can play a little second base, but they've moved him to LF. He's not the greatest fielder out there, but he can hit. The Sox orignally drafted him in 99 as well. Hit .311/.384/.608 in AAA in 2005 and is hitting .318/.412/.545 so far for them this season. He's too good for AAA and deserves another chance in the majors somewhere. And the D-Backs aren't asking a lot for him. Hairston from what I have heard around here is close to getting a call to AZ and with the way Shawn Green is playing it is easy to see why batting a robust .167 and has made some little league mistakes in the RF. I would assume the Dbacks would want pitching

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 11:06 PM) Looks like Valido and Getz are both getting it back together after a slow start.... Getz is over the .300 mark and Valido is climbing steadily. I hope those 2 can both succeed would be a nice duo leading off for the sox in 08. It is a shame that the Barons have no hitting other than those 2. With the pitching they have gotten they could be 12-3 instead of 7-8.

QUOTE(samclemens @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 05:47 PM) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2415914 think he may actually be injured? (cause i sure as hell do) Well from what I seen this week I would say so, he could barely move in LF and was K'd by rookie Casey Diagle. He still has a way of changing the game even though he is hitting .168 Monday with a runner on and Mark Sweeney up 2-0 in the count got a belt high FB and tied the game then today he got an intentional walk to load them up and then Sweeney also drew a walk which gave the Giants the win.

I was 2 rows from where that happened. What made it worse was a guy with his 2 kids watching there first MLB game were sitting right next to them and had to see that.

The Duke went 5.2 today giving up 6 runs 3 of them by Jason Grimsley who has been hanging sinkers at a alarming rate. The Duke also K'd 8 with some filthy breaking balls changing speeds well from 66-91 to bad Grimsley ruined it. Viscaino had a dominating inning with 2K's. It is hard to believe the Dbacks lead the Majors in K's (101) this Bullpen outside of Grimsley has pitched very well. I didn't think the hitting would be the reason why we are 5-7. I will be in attendance tomorrow when Barry Bonds comes into to town.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 12:40 PM) Well, Heath could sure have worse comparisons than Mark. You better believe it I know a lot of pitchers that would love to be compared to Mark B.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 08:47 PM) Looks like Philly is trying to do a MB impression with a pair of pickoffs. Philly has a damn good move to first it is a borderline balk but it is very effective and picked off an SL high 18 runners last. The move is good because it looks like to the runner that Philly is throwing it to nowhere and the first base sneaks into the open spot slaps the tag and it has caught some good players (Francouer, D. Young and J. Hermida). And more than a couple managers have been tossed because of it as well.

0-0 after 3 1/2 Lummy gave up a pair of singles one an infield single on a jamb shot to second the other a looper.
-
0-0 after 2 Lummy has got 5 ground ball outs which is a good sign.

3 up and 3 down for both Barons and Stars.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 06:15 PM) I'm not positive, but I thought Smith left the system. Fields is in extended spring training. He had shoulder surgery late last season and is healthy, but is still in the midst of his rehab process. From what I know he should be in Charlotte within a month or so. Smith is card farm hand

The D-back connection: El Duque started last night picked up the loss the Fastball was still around 90 but he missed with it to Helton and Brad Hawpe who bashed him around all night Hawpe was 3-3 a single from the cycle could have just as easy been 3 homers. Helton took a 88 fastball and hit a missle into the RF seats. The Curve was very nasty and at one point threw 18 in a row. Baj in AAA Tucson has a rough start yesterday blew the save gave 4 runs on 4 hits but also had 3 walks that done him in. Baj has walked 6 hitters in 3.2 innings this year and has a 8.18 ERA.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 11, 2006 -> 10:17 PM) One more question about another catcher, Chris Stewart. He had a pretty decent year at Birmingham last season, and he could prove to be pretty valuable as a backup catcher in the near future. But, how's his defense? Stew Defense is the best part of his game and his hitting became a good suprise last year. He added 20 extra pounds in the 04-05 off-season and hit 11 bombs (9 away from the Met) and he should have better numbers at Charlotte. By the numbers last night it looks like the Barons are glad to be on the road which has been the case for every Barons team I watched, they struggle early at home trying to get use to the Met.

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Apr 11, 2006 -> 06:20 PM) I feel like I am talking to myself , but Liotta's no-no (perfect game actually) was broken up in the fourth by Steve Moss of Huntsville. Yes on a grounder to Valido that wasn't handled well call could have went either way (hit or E). Then he strike's out Greg (I homer or K) Sain

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 08:39 PM) Were you the Official Scorer up in the pressbox? I know they were looking for someone last year before the season, but if you were, I never put two and two together. Good luck in Phoenix. It is nice out there. Nope I was with Stats INC and Minor League Baseball. I sat with the pitchers and the families behind the plate top row 13 last 2 seats. By the way Baj said that Bull signed on with Toronto Blue Jays and with New Hampshire Fisher Cats.

The Brewers are now 5-0 and will suprise some teams this year I watched a lot of there talent come through Huntsville.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 10:02 PM) Bham, did you move to Phoenix? Didn't you have family out there? How the hell are the Barons going to make it financially without your season ticket revenue? lol Oh Jim and Jonathan both begged me to stay but man I enjoy it out here. It was funny becuase last year I got my season ticket then I got the Scoring job so I pretty much gave away my season ticket last year. First Dback game when Bonds comes calling I believe the 20th

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 08:41 AM) No, they officially announced they were going to move Upton to the OF. However, I disagree with everyone. Upton has not proven he's more talented than Chris Young. I realize Upton has a lot of tools, but Young is about as talented as it gets at the Minor league level. We'll see how that transcends to the major league. Plus I'm hard pressed to see someone come in and play better defensively. The Dbacks have 4 damn good OF prospects (including Upton, Young, Gonzalez, and Quentin) and my guess is at least one of them won't pan out, so they really don't have anything to worry about in terms of positions. Right on Justin Upton is 4th on OF depth chart. You are also right that at least one will not pan out. Also remeber that Justin is 18 and starting the season at Low A South Bend. Young and Quentin are in Tucson and Gonzalez in Lancaster.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 10:35 PM) But he's getting close to coming back from a broken bone in his hand. He is Chris will start in Extended Spring then on to Tucson.
