QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 09:55 PM) I second that. How he isn't on this poll is beyond me. First of all it is Andrew Johnson and secondly If you were to read my explanation you would have seen that I forgot to add him to the list.

Here is a question, lets see if we have history buffs outhere. Which candidate won the greatest percentage of a states popular vote? Name and State and Year please. Here is an example Clinton in 1996 won 59% of the vote in New York

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 09:31 PM) I love seeing Madison on your top 5. lol I'm a Madison lover as everyone can tell. Tons of respect here for Madison and for all the early presidents as you can tell. I believe they had the toughest jobs to do and they did it. Madison also is great president because of his handling of the French and the British instead of making of 2 enemies he worked with France and handled the British as long as possible without making the US appear as weak. Should be on everyone's top 10 at least

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 09:32 AM) No John Adams love?!? Yeah I have a lot of respect for him, he was on my list but I figured people would be upset if Kennedy wasn't on the list so I switched them. I could have easily made 15 choices but I was limited to 10. My Top 5: 5. Adams (sr) 4. Madison 3. Jefferson 2. Washington 1. Lincoln

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 09:55 AM) How in holy hell do you not put Andrew Johnson, a consensus bottom 5, on that list? Believe me he is on my top 5 list, it was a error on my part one that I regret, here is my list 5. Grant 4. Harding 3. A Johnson 2. Pierce 1. Buchanan

QUOTE(G&T @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 01:26 PM) Using BHAM's rationale I would put JFK on this list. John Quincy Adams would be a good choice too. Corrupt bargain. That's how you steal the presidency. I just gave you the short version but since you want the long version here it is: Buchanan sent over a HALF MILLION American people to their graves and mostly for his own career. It started in 1854 with Buchanan writing the famous Ostend Manifesto which basically stated that the US would take over Cuba and make it a slave territory. Also that same year he worked with Pierce and Douglas to create the Kansas-Nebraska Act that was a bill that would make the territories decide if they wanted to be slave or free, which lead to mass killings there just so he they could get the precious railroad to come through, of course for Buchanan meant lining his pockets and padding his political career. Then his failed presidency where he lowers tariff by 20% just to appease his base while hurting the Northern industry causes the country to go into a Depression. Then my favorite where he says that southern states have no legal rights to secede from the union but yet he does nothing. Bottom line when he had the power to compromise he sat on his fat ass and watched as the country tore it self apart and 556,000 people were killed.

I vote James Buchanan a guy who led to 550,000 Americans to their graves by his inaction a disgrace to the office.

Worst Presidents in my view #5. Grant #4. Coolidge #3. Harding #2. Pierce #1. Buchanan

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 04:25 PM) Is there anything of Buchanan still roaming about? Unfortunately there is 550,000 graves from the civil war which he did nothing to stop in fact sped it up. Buchanan failed in every aspect of his presidency

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 10:54 PM) I always liked Jimmy Carter... didnt think much of him as a president but as a politician and as a person. Right on, he has done a lot of stuff for our region. While not a good president he is a good person and has done the most charity work of any president

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 07:04 PM) I just want to see him throw his sick curveball more often. He would go away from it at times last year. Yeah I have the same feelings last year in Bham he would get into trouble by going away from his curve. If he could get the hitters thinking curve then the battle was over. I go back to a classic battle with Delmon Young; Top 9th 2 Outs tying runs on base Jenks went Curve (Called) Curve (Called) Then Jenks go up the ladder with a 99MPH and Young swings and misses to end the game.

QUOTE(MarkBuehrle_TheAce @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 09:08 PM) owens doesnt suck on defense, he only had 3 errors last season for the barons, and i bet with that speed, he has made some spectacular plays. but, he does have a noodle arm, which worries me a little. but, if he can hit at the major league level, and doesnt make dumb mistakes on the base paths/ in the field, i think he would be a pretty good fit He only had 3 CHARGED errors, but it was closer to 15 with all the misreads on balls that don't show up in the box score. Owens was 4th on Birmingham CF depth chart last year and in my opinion will not start in CF for Charlotte this season much less in Chicago.

I see my area of Atlanta is on the list 4 times, because of the worst Interstate designs ever in I-285 all of the major interchanges I-75 being the worst because of the design it is a sharp curve only one lane exit and I-75 is considered the gate way to Florida. The other ones I-85 and I-20 were not built to meet the growth both intersections were built in the 1970's.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 3, 2006 -> 01:30 PM) The interpretation of the law, in this instance, is essential. You can suggest, "OH, he's just being a flippen hardass!!11;" and you'd be absolutely correct, but he has every right within the teenagers' sentencing to enforce harsh punishments. In case anyone isn't aware, two people can commit the same crimes and receive--get this--different punishments. Law Enforcement, and particularly the entire legal system, isn't precise. In Illinois, you could be issued a speeding ticket for exceeding the posted speed limit by 1 mph. Everyday of your life prior to such a scenario, you may have driven 5 above. Hell, the other motorists may have been traveling faster than you. But guess what? It doesn't matter. You were caught disobeying a law--one that's broken practically everyday by every commuter. Does this change anything? You were obviously the victim of a disgruntled police officer profiling you, your vehicle, or possibly fulfilling a quota. Tell that in court and you'll be in traffic school before you know it. These teenagers may not have deserved it, but OOPS--they received jail time anyway. Don't violate court ordered probation next time. Right on, next time they sign a probation agreement they should read the conditions before they have their fun.

QUOTE(Spiff @ Feb 3, 2006 -> 02:54 AM) Yeah, well they didn't hurt anyone. You don't punish people for crimes they could possibly commit. As it was they didn't hurt anyone. Victimless crime; and if you want to relate it to "yourself", how would you like it if you were drinking underage, didn't hurt anyone, and you still got 2 weeks in jail? Possession of narcotics is a victimless crime as well, yet it could turn into a serious problem. It really depends on if you want the law to be proactive or reactive.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 12:44 PM) Sex offenders need to be put away for a long long time. Pedophiles and child rapists need to be put in jail never to be seen from again. This crime is why I believe in the death penalty. Send him down to Bama we will take care of him if not by death penalty then Bubba would take care of business.

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 11:38 AM) "The now twice-convicted sex offender..." The assholes that let this MF'er out should be charged with 2nd degree MURDER. How many times does it need to be said that these f***ers DON'T change... for Jetseta, her family, their friends, and the community. This is the same Parole Board who set free John Wayne Gacy in 1970. "After he had tricked a kid into coming in house, then tied him up while and had violently raped him". Gacy was ordered to serve 10 years he served 18 months. After all the murders were over the JWGVF (John Wayne Gacy Victims Fund) sued the Parole Board and won. Credit Crime Library.

QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 11:11 PM) http://www.blogactive.com/2006/01/mister-senator.html Couldn't this guy be proscecuted for extortion? Just a thought. It actually falls under blackmail: The UCR definition is a one kind of extortion -- specifically, extortion by threatening another's reputation with the disclosure of incriminating statements
