I thought Bush would receive a 5 or maybe a 10 point boost from the death of Zarqawi but his numbers still hold in the mid to upper 30's.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 09:32 PM) Prior pitched well after giving up a 3 run bomb to Aldridge in the 1st. Broadway has been struggling lately. Broadway's problems again were command but it was command in the strike zone to many pitches left where they should not have been. The Barons hit Prior kind of hard even several of the outs were line outs. The 1st inning started with 2 deep fly ball outs then two line shot singles and Cory Aldridge crushed a Fastball out of the park.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:45 PM) If you were to offer Pittsburgh a real good young hitter, I could actually see them making a deal, considering the problems they've had scoring runs in the past few seasons. So if you built a package around Josh Fields.......... AZ asked about him not long ago and the package they wanted was something like this, Steven Drew + Micah Owings and Miguel Montero which is to step of a price to pay

Sean Tracey Promoted; Cliff Politte to the DL
BHAMBARONS replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
SL hitters in the 2nd half last year made Sean throw it over the plate and really got hammered. He picked up his 13th win Aug 5th and only one more the rest of the way. Gave up 10 of 13 long balls in second half. And one to Delmon Young which I don't think has landed yet. But I also seen him dominate a good Carolina lineup and tying Jeremy Hermida up in knots and dominate against Jacksonville and that was murderers row line up bottom line if Tracy can get ahead he will be fine. -

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 12:17 PM) Sean Tracey still has a 95 mph fastball and he's not afraid to pitch inside, right Jas? Yeah just ask Elijah Dukes best moment of 05 when he wanted to fight Tracy and not even his teamates came to support him. -
QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 10:02 PM) Collaro continues to show he might be becoming a real AA hitter soon lol. Yeah he sure drilled that last double. Right off the 2nd Baseman's shoulder. Sounds like another Cub player I know of

QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 03:42 PM) Wasn't Jason Grimsley also the guy who tried to break into the umpire's room at Comiskey to replace Albert Belle's corked bat? If my memory serves me correctly (and I think it does), he was the guy on cleveland that was skinny enough to get into the air conditioning vent to try and steal the bat. what a cheater Yes he was and when asked why he put someone elses bat in place of it he said " Because all of Albert's bats were corked"

QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 03:36 PM) Actually, I retract my previous statement. These names were blacked out.... obviously it was done by someone with the Federal Prosecutor's office. Hmm... maybe other warrants are out there. Maybe they wanted this leaked.... on their own terms... with names blacked out. I agree this was presented in District court and it would have been released sooner or later so do it on your own terms which they did

Former umpire Eric Gregg dies after stroke
BHAMBARONS replied to Leonard Zelig's topic in The Diamond Club
RIP Mr. Gregg He still gets ripped by Brave Fans for his K zone in 1997 but Maddux and the Braves had the same zone. Flordia executed better. I still remeber him and the games he did with the Philly Phanatic that was funny stuff. Will always miss his large K zone's. Here's to one of the good guys -
QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 09:34 PM) He and his brother were the stars of the Phenix City, AL team that played in the Little League World Series. Yeah I could not remeber where they were from but did know they were a part of the little league champs. His brother went to the Cards last year first rounder

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 04:26 PM) Perhaps he can 'pull an Everett' and grab Marte or Vizcaino again? They seemed to have gotten things back on track. I think we will be keeping Vis he is our 7th inning guy and been very dependable.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 05:41 PM) John Sickels' Minor League Ball blog (Link) had a mock draft today. People participated representing each team. mrkupe took the Sox and drafted the following: 29) White Sox: Adrian Cardenas, INF, Florida HS 73) White Sox: Cory Rasmus, RHP, Alabama HS 105) White Sox: William Benson, C, Illinois HS 135) White Sox: Charles Brewer, RHP, Arizona HS 165) White Sox: Ryan Jackson, SS, Florida HS I was the Pirates and made a lot of picks I'm not even sure on heh. It's tough when someone takes somebody you are going for and don't know enough of the high school guys to take one of them with good confidence. I really doubt the Sox go all HS but after the World Series win it's possible. On a sidenote, I'll have a look at the top college pitchers in the draft up on FutureSox tonight. Hopefully Monday I can do a piece on the top college hitters. I'd cover high school, but I wouldn't really don't know anything. With the way the Sox draft college players anyway, that's not the worst I guess. Cory Rasmus is a good one if he slips that far the Sox's need to scoop him up, I watched him and his brother last year play in the Alabama State tournment. Really like Rasmus

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 12:11 PM) Is anyone else excited to watch Young play?? I have no problem with the trade, and wish Young all the best. Yeah he is a fun player I still think this is a deal that great for both teams for the Sox get a proven starter and winner in Vasquez and the DBacks got a solid experenced reliever and a solid prospect plus dumping 9 million in salary (after the Duke Trade).
-
I have seen CY a lot this season and was on a roll after coming back from the wrist injury and then took a Dana Evland fastball in the rib cage that set him back a couple weeks. Now Young is back and hitting a ton and made a play in CF that saved a game last week with the tying run at 3rd winning run at 2nd made a full out diving catch in a ball ticketed for the Gap then nailed the runner at 2nd to end it before the tying run could score. This Tucson team is loaded with prospects and is fun to watch.

QUOTE(RME JICO @ May 31, 2006 -> 01:14 AM) Hard to beat 8-0 with a 2.18 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and 2 SHO. Then throw on 53Ks and only 9BBs in 82.2IP. The surprising stat is that teams are actually batting .261 against him, so if this stays true, his other numbers will eventually get worse. Webb is a big time sinker baller he gets tons of ground balls some find holes but the next batter will not be so lucky and hits into the GBDP. Very few line drive hits until he starts to tire late game. The DP is really his best friend.

Its Time For The Josh Fields Era To Begin...........
BHAMBARONS replied to Thunderin'Thome's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 30, 2006 -> 10:41 PM) Fields strikes out 31% of the time he goes to the dish. 52ks already. How is that going to translate to the majors. His long causes him a lot of problems and especially when pitchers throw him breaking pitches on the outside corner and Josh gets into a pull happy mode if he uses right field he will be a special hitter. He does have power to all parts of the park (If you can hit a 425 ft shot to the opposite field in August at the Met then he can in any park). -

QUOTE(Thunderin @ May 30, 2006 -> 10:29 PM) I dont think it can be bad. He was a quarterback in college. Well he has a cannon but accuracy is a big question mark. He made throws that many third baseman do not make but I also seen him make some very wild throws on routine plays. Bottom line he has a strong arm but in my opinion does not have OF accuracy.
