More reasons why I don't get the RPI this year..... It just doesn't seem as reliable as in years past. Can someone explain to me how this schedule and results gets an RPI of 35?? QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Mar 6, 2005 -> 12:36 AM) Well Rashad it looks like is out for the Duke game also. Just makes it that much more interesting. Rex, Northern Iowa's rpi is good and their sos is in the top 55, it should be really close as to whether they make it or not, I think they will. 21 wins with a top 35 rpi should be pretty safe in my opinion. palehose, I guess I just don't get the new RPI formula. I look at Northern Iowa's whole schedule and don't see any way they get in, especially since Wichita St. and Creighton are winning in their conference tournament. 21 wins shouldn't mean squat if you don't beat anybody. I don't see how their SoS is that high either. Its a good thing that RPI is just one factor the tournament committee will look at. I also wonder if they will consider both the new and old RPI formula for teams this year. The NCAA doesn't create the RPI, so they didn't dictate the changes in the formula. I just wonder if they will give it the same weight as they have in the past. I just went back and looked and N. Iowa was actually 43 in RPI in the most recent ratings. With a first round tournament loss it can only go down. Looking at their whole season, I just don't see it.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Mar 6, 2005 -> 12:58 AM) Better be....Did you hear about their AD, Rex? Yeah, I posted that on another board..... I don't understand why any Division I AD would be allowed to referee D-I games, regardless of who is playing. The fact that the AD of a team on the bubble is refereeing a game of another bubble team just makes NO sense at all.

IU gets a nice, yet expected win today against Northwestern, finishing 15-12. I think a win against Minnesota on Friday, a respectable showing against Illinois and not too many mid-major conference tournament upsets will allow IU to squeeze in. Or so I hope........

Northern Iowa lost to SW Missouri St. 70-62 in the first round of the MVC Tournament. That hurts their at-large chances big time. Good wins: Iowa State, Southern Illinois, Wichita State Bad losses: Evansville, Bradley, Drake, SMS (conference tourney - bad timing) "Good losses": 6 pts at Cincinnati, 3 points at Iowa Final record: 21-10 NIT Bound if you ask me........

QUOTE(Spiff @ Mar 5, 2005 -> 06:15 PM) I don't use any of that crap for hitting--strike zone, ball cursor, hot/cold, color-coded ball--and I can hit fine on all-star. If you guys got rid of it too you might find it easier, all that junk distracts your concentration off of the ball. I find it more difficult to hit without all of that stuff, but I much prefer it and play that way. A friend and I played without all of that and with the hitter's eye turned off the other night and I beat him 1-0 with a run in the bottom of the 16th inning! With the hitter's eye, I just beat Seattle in a Spring Training game 8-0. Seemed too easy.

Illinois fans, would you be disappointed?

I'm not an Illinois fan per se (I do hope they win it all), but I think any fan of this team would be disappointed if they don't win it all. That is the goal, that is what you hope for. But just because you are disappointed your team doesn't win, that doesn't mean you won't look back and be able to have positive memories of a great season.

Saw Richard Hendrix play today palhosefan...... He didn't play real well, but still had 14 points, 6-8 rebounds, several blocks and a handful of assists. He got into foul trouble and sat out most of the 3rd quarter and fouled out with about 4 minutes left. His team went from 6 down when he fouled out to losing by 15. He has nice soft hands. Took (and missed) a couple of threes. Not sure he should be shooting those right now. He is huge though. Very chiseled and well built. He as a man among boys in terms of size out there.

A cool feature for the future would be to have a jukebox in the game and allow you to choose your own songs from that jukebox

How do you turn the sound off? I turned my tv down, but the stupid song information still pops up on the screen when each song starts.... bugs the s*** out of me when I am in owner mode

MVP Baseball 2005
Hell, I was charging $45 and 30 on weekends and $55 and $35 for Cubs/Yankees/Red Sox series...... Still no answer to my question...... Once I have finished a season and before I go on to the next one, how do I find the stats for my players? I can't find that info anywhere. Also, maybe I missed a setting somewhere, but if you quick sim games without changing lineups, the game never plays your bench players and lets your energy % go way down. I simmed 2 months of a season in a trial and when I went back to look, Carl Everett only had 3 AB's. Other bench guys had none. What gives?

QUOTE(CaliSoxFan @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 07:37 PM) I noticed that some were mentioning that they were having a hard time making money in owner mode there first year. If you make the playoffs that is were you can charge outragous amounts off money. I ended up with nearly ten million. Of course my payroll was 45 million. I am playing as the nationals. Traded away all there useless high priced players they got this off season and went after top 100 prospects and the like. During the first season. It seemed every time I had a homestand I would get close to breaking even and then a long road trip would come up and I was back down to -3 million. But with my fans happiness nearly full and adjusting the prices to the games I was able to make a small profit at the end of the year. Making the playoffs is the most improtant thing and having a small payroll. Two questions...... 1. What were the most expensive and least expensive prices you charged for tickets? 2. How in the hell did you make the playoffs with that team?

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 09:00 AM) Chicago White Sox message board = More Illini love than any other team. Also, it's not like we've been bashing IU left and right, either, or at least i haven't. I've been objective and i rooted for them in every non conference game, etc. I only got to see the first 10 minutes of the game, but from what i'm reading in various places, IU got the typical Kohl Center ref job against Wisky. What else is new I didn't see the game last night (I freakin fell asleep) and I generally do not criticize officiating. But it must have been really bad because Sonny Smith and Wimp Sanderson were commenting this morning on the radio about how badly it was officiated. They even mentioned the lead official by name and said he and his crew were terrible. For those that do not know, Sonny Smith is a former Auburn head coach and Wimp Sanderson is a former Alabama head coach. They have a radio show here locally.

QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 07:11 AM) ESPN will either kill or take over CSTV. Just like they took over Classic Sports Network and turned it into ESPN Classic. Sad thing is, Classic Sports Network was better before ESPN bought it. Now, I rarely watch it.

Sleeper Prospects 2005
Geez, I was a man of many words in that thread. I can't recall the last time I was so short and to the point. Maybe I should try that again sometime..... I have a few in mind for this year, but need a day or two to sort through them. I shall return.

MVP Baseball 2005
Without stats, here is a review of my first season. My bank account is only $1.9 million in the hole. My Income Statement shows I lost $8 million though. Not sure where the difference comes in. My guess is the $5 million I started with, but that still doesn't add up. I originally bought field level seating to give me 25,000 seats, but sold them back for $1.2 million after the Cubs series when I didn't sell 20,000 seats in any game. I had a profit after several homestands late in the year so I kept buying more. I know own....... 1 Batting Cage 1 Ice Cream Stand 1 Pizza Stand 1 Peanut Stand 2 Soda Stands Record Breakers - retro caps Sluggers Souvenirs - pennants, baseball cards, team baseballs Prospects Place - jackets, sweatshirts, t-shirts Shortshop Stop - jerseys My total revenues were $95.8 million broken down as follows.. Tickets - $49.9 mil Merch - $357k F&B - $2.9 mil Spon - $42.6 mil Players salaries ended at $82.2 million After struggling badly in May, I decided to go young and made some pretty interesting trades. Some offers I made were rejected, but others somewhat surprisingly went through. The three main trades I made were: 1. Traded Frank Thomas (he was hitting .215), Orlando Hernandez and Kelly Wunsch to Atlanta. Received Doonan CF (Jeff Francouer), E. Rodriguez 3B (Andy Marte and a SP by the name of Watson (not sure if there is a MLB equavalent, but he was a 5-star potential player). 2. Traded Carl Everett and Timo Perez to Tampa Bay for K. Morales OF (Delmon Young) 3. Traded Danny Wright, Jason Grilli and Tony Alvarez to Seattle for D. Buhler SP (Felix Hernandez). I didn't write the other ones down, but I know I made at least one more. I traded Ben Davis after listening to him b**** about PT half the season. Can't recall who I got in return. I was also peeved because the game had Iguchi being unhappy and b****ing about his playing time all season long and he was a freakin starter! I don't remember my record, but I think I finished in 3rd place. Cleveland won the division and Minnesota was not too far ahead of me. I also didn't like that they do not allow for expanded rosters in September for callups from the minors. Any thoughts? Anyone have similar experiences? Better? Worse?

Okay, I am done with season one and have some questions.... I am now at the screen where it prompts you to go on to the next season. I don't want to do that until I review the past season, but I can't find anywhere to find my team's record, stats or anything. HELP

Unofficial NIT Hot Chick Contest
Jenny McCarthy did indeed win. I have to say I cannot argue with the result, because despite her weirdness, she is smokin hot. Thanks to all who voted. I hope this helped pass the time between the Original Hot Chick contest and the beginning of Spring Training.

MVP Baseball 2005
Gotcha Krush lol Another issue I have with this game. After adding Iguchi and calling up Vizcaino, the Sox MLB payroll is $69.2 million. Yet, the game lists player payroll at $89.7 million. Charlotte has a freaking payroll of $9 million. Birmingham's is $8.8 and Winston's is $2.2. None of that is realistic at all. No wonder nobody can make any money. They have an extra $20 million in payroll. Realistically, it should be $3-$5 million.

I am used to playing without the hitter's eye, which makes hitting that much harder. But the friend I play games against doesn't like it, so it won't help me to play with it against the computer and without it against him. When I have used it, I have hit well. Very well actually. Some pitcher tip their pitches early, so you can see the color before it leaves his hand. Some early in the windup.
