  1. Here you go Pasttime...... White Sox Payroll History The above links showed that JR did indeed give back just as you requested in 2001. They more than DOUBLED payroll in 2003 going from $31 million to $65 million after the 2000 Division Championship. Didn't do a hell of a lot of good, did it??
  2. Thanks for the update Josh.
  3. Mark Buehrle Photo Christmas Ornament Hope you guys don't mind the plug here........
  4. Is that offer still on the table or was it turned down? I don't remember you being called a liar, but I will take your word for it. If it makes you feel any better, I think most of us have pretty short memories here.
  5. It is still way too early to get all worked up about what our lineup will look like or who will be in our rotation. It's an unfinished product. The club does not have to be set (nor should it be) by January. Relax and give it time.
  6. There was no going after Mark Redman. The A's had a deal all but done with him at the deadline, which is why he was non-tendered. They knew they would never lose him.
  7. A 10% increase would take him to $1.595 million, not $2 million.
  8. I wouldn't assume for certain that the Sox deal for Nomar is still alive, if and when the ARod deal goes through.
  9. What the hell happened to TexSox?
  10. I gotcha....... I misread your first post. I think I am going nuts.
  11. Nice effort in taking a shot at me....... It didn't work, but obviously you think it did.
  12. Ok, what's the trick here? Is Uribe not the player we traded Aaron Miles for? Was he non-tendered and I missed it?
  13. I disagree, Anderson would be a sizable upgrade over Willie or Uribe. He is a top of the order presence and will give you a proven contribution.
  14. Why is Schoenweiss not on that list??
  15. Speaking of Kapler only....... Kapler has always been a bodybuilder. When he was in the Minors he was on the cover of some fitness magazine. The guy is a workout fanatic and has always been chiseled. I don't buy the steroids argument for him either.
  16. Couple of comments.... Until we trade Maggs, Koch or Konerko, where do you think this $8 million is going to come from?? I agree they would be excellent players for us. Marlon Anderson would step in and start at 2B and provide us a spark at the top of the order. He only walked 41 times last year, but he only struck out 60 times. Looper would be a strong addition to our bullpen and Redman would be a nice fit at the end of the rotation in the 4 or 5 slot. Baez is the one I question the most out of this group, but he would give the bullpen depth. Lastly, I am not sure we could get all of them for $8 million. Plus, I think at least two of them will likely get two-year deals.
  17. KW, stilll with the Sox in 2009???? HA
  18. Funny that you are interested in Menechino because he is a good OBP guy, yet also want Simon who basically has not OBP.
  19. They will have those four picks plus their normal first and second round picks.
  20. The Athletics and Twins now each have five picks before the start of their second round, and Oakland has an extra second-rounder as well. Here are the compensation picks as they stand right now: First Round 22. Twins (from Mariners for Eddie Guardado) 23. Yankees (from Astros for Andy Pettitte) 24. Athletics (from Red Sox for Keith Foulke) 25. Twins (from Cubs for LaTroy Hawkins) 28. Dodgers (from Yankees for Paul Quantrill) 29. Royals (from Giants for Michael Tucker) 30. Rangers (from Braves for John Thomson) Supplemental First Round 31. Athletics (for Foulke) 32. Athletics (for Miguel Tejada) 33. White Sox (for Bartolo Colon) 34. Yankees (for Pettitte) 35. Twins (for Guardado) 36. Twins (for Hawkins) 37. Royals (for Raul Ibanez) 38. Dodgers (for Quantrill) 39. White Sox (for Tom Gordon) 40. Blue Jays (for Kelvim Escobar) Second Round 48. Athletics (from Orioles for Tejada) 52. White Sox (from Angels for Colon) 62. Royals (from Mariners for Ibanez) 68. White Sox (from Yankees for Gordon) Supplemental Second Round 71. Brewers (for Eddie Perez) Third Round 83. Blue Jays (from Angels for Escobar) There are just five more unsigned free agents who could require compensation: Type A: David Wells (NYY). Type B: B.J. Surhoff (Bal). Type C: Julio Franco (Atl), Orlando Palmeiro (StL), John Vander Wal (Mil). Wells and the Yankees reportedly have agreed on a minor league deal, but it hasn't been officially announced yet. Franco, Palmeiro, Surhoff and Vander Wal all declined arbitration, giving them until Jan. 8 to resign with their 2003 teams.
  21. Fair enough....... I just know that Frankie is no bigger now than he was when he was in Birmingham and has no power........ doesn't seem 'roid like to me.
  22. He was taken in the Minor League portion of the Rule 5 draft after the 1988 (I believe) season. Where the hell do you come up with that from?
  23. Rex Hudler replied to a post in a topic in Pale Hose Talk
Mota, Perez and two prospects won't happen....... unless they are fringe prospect who are minor league roster filler.
  24. Someone please stop Beastly.......... or at least, stop responding to his threads (this shall be my last).
