  1. I think he was considered a "fringe" 2nd rounder. Is that accurate Cerb?
  2. I think 2nd base is the spot we need to strengthen now. Harris, although speedy and talented is not hitting and shows no sign of being a hitter yet. I don't see Jimenez as the answer either and am losing faith and patience with him. I see him as a super sub just like Graffy is used. Alomar might be a great fellow, but is on the downside of his career so if we did go after him we shouldn't give up any young talent. I think Roberto is batting about .260 with 2 homers. Heck, D'Lo is batting better than that powerwise anyway. I like Miles and the reports we get on him. He is aggressive and brings spark to a line up. As far as walks taken are concerned think about Ozzie Guillen. Couple things..... As far as walks are concerned, if a guy hits.320, who the hell cares. If he hits .270 then that is a big difference. If Miles is to get the chance, due to his lack of walks, he will have to hit and hit well. .270 won't cut it. Not saying Alomar is the answer and I have never been a huge fan of his, but getting him out of that hellhole called New York and the Mets might do him some good. Reuniting him with his brother can't hurt either. But what you do get with Alomar is defense as well. He has the ability to not only help at 2B but to make other guys better. I don't think he would be a bad addition, but I am not sure he is the right one, when you take money into account as well as other factors.
  3. lol.. where were ya a few minutes ago when i was tootin miles horn??? or olivos?? lol i said something nice about two people now....and you missed both...... 5. Unfortunately, there is not really time. If he waits, he may lose the player he wants. He has to make a decision now if he wants to make a move or if he will give Miles a shot.
  6. They are definitely a mixture. Lots of HS guys, some Latin players coming up from the Dom. Summer League and some college guys. Generally, you won't see college guys that are high draft choices hang around too long in short season leagues, but that also has a lot to do with space ahead of them. There is no shame in a college player having big success in these short-season leagues and not getting promoted during the year.
  7. Reality, combined with a long season is setting in. Many players go through a tired period or an adjustment when first getting used to the long season. Colleges play 60-70 games. Counting ST, Ring has been going as long as he ever has. It will be something he will have to fight his way through. A lot of people don't understand the grind the players go through with the long season. It is not easy, even when you have done it for years, let alone your first time through. I have a friend that played for a long time and he said that every year he had to make adjustments during the last month of the season because he didn't have the strength he had earlier. His wrists hurt, his shoulder would get sore and his knees would ache. This guy played for 12 years and was in great shape. As far as the reality part, there is no way he could keep up the success he had. He went through a stretch where he was practically untouchable. Even AA hitters will adjust eventually. Combine that with likely fatigue and his recent performance makes sense.

  9. If he is getting cortisone shots, it is acknowledged and not fake. Benching a guy still doesn't solve the problem. That roster spot could be taken by someone who could contribute. And it is very RARE for a MLB player to go on the DL with a "fake injury". The player's union is way too strong to allow it. I am not saying it never happens, but it is definitely the exception rather than the rule.
  10. I would MUCH rather trade Royce Ring than Neal Cotts. JMO
  11. Well.. since he's getting the shots at the Sox facility I'm sure they know about it... C'mon Rex.. give me some credit here. That's my point. If he is getting cortisone shots then the Sox trainers and docs know at least to some degree of the severity. If they aren't doing anything about it, then blame the team, don't b**** at the player. It just makes no sense that the Sox would allow an injury to go this far. There is something to be said for allowing a player to tough it out and work through an injury, but you don't let a guy who has hit in the past, go a half season hitting under .200 and not address the situation in some way.
  12. There are several threads with the details of Paul's real injury. Well I have seen things posted about a "degenerative hip condition" but that makes no sense, so unless you can shed some light here, then I am not buying it. If Paul's hip is so bad that fans would know about it, then the White Sox would have to know as well. And I don't buy for a minute that the Sox are going to allow a guy hitting .180something to take up a roster spot if he is indeed injured. That would be the dumbest thing a club could do when they have been struggling as they have. It just doesn't add up Steff, so shed soem light on this for me, will ya? Guess this "fan" just knows the right people. Paul has been getting shots in his hip since the morning of May 5th. Believe me, or don't. But before you buy the BS about his shoulder being sore, watch the replay of that play and you'll see there's no way he injured his shoulder there. So you are saying that you know about his hip and that he has been getting shots, but the Sox know nothing about it??
  13. Baj has been arguably our best reliever the past month. He has good stuff and has been consistent all year. He definitely has a chance to make it to the Bigs in the bullpen, whether the Sox or someone else's. Too early to tell with Purvis. He is just now coming back from surgery, so it will take some time to see the real effects. Some guys get better after Tommy John surgery, so who knows? Not sure of the details with West. I heard his elbow was bothering him so they put him on the DL. Never heard any kind of diagnosis.
  14. Nothing is up my ass at all. It was just the first two posts of yours I read today sounded pretty negative, so I thought maybe someboday pissed in your Cheerios or something. ;-) Say something nice about SOMEONE, k? Anybody!

  16. nothing hostile about it rex.. just the truth would be nice for a change.. this org... is full of s*** when it comes to reporting info to the fans... thats just not right........... geez us just send his broken down ass packing already and get us someone who can actually contribute to the team.... im sick of his sorry assed excuses.. he cant run anyhow healthy or not..cut our losses and move on..........he sure aint worth that heafty contract he just got........ Sorry babe, sounds like there is hostility in there to me, and no LOL. So what's with the lies? What is he lying about?
  17. Well aren't all your posts of just cheery nature today, HSC?
  18. What got up you girls' asses? Why the hostility? You taking all your frustrations of Jiminez out on Paulie now? The guy is trying. He isn't b****ing about playing time. You can't tell me that if he gets it together, that he could not help this time in a big way. As Sox fans, I figured you'd be rooting for the guy.
  19. Sweeps are nice, but two out of three will suffice.

Will Neal Cotts make Kenny Williams look good next to Billy Beane for once? A: Josh Boyd: I think so, and don't forget the fact he grabbed Miguel Olivo for Chad Bradford.
  25. Like it has been said, all of his games so far have been on the road, so I haven't seen him. But from everything I have heard, he is a good athlete. Probably not Michael Jordan, but more than likely more than say Carlos or Maggs.
