  1. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 5, 2009 -> 10:26 AM) He wasnt saying copy their stance, he was saying to watch their approach and strategy. ESPECIALLY right now you would want a young hitter noting those things from veteran hitters. I was thinking about it and pretty much most of the hitters I idealize in the MLB as hitters have very unique and almost uncopyable quirks. Pujols for example. I wouldnt tell a hitter to hold the bat like him, and swing just like him, but watch how he attacks pitchers, watch his god-like balance and how flat his bat is in thezone.
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 5, 2009 -> 09:51 AM) I happen to agree with legalization, but, this statement is pure conjecture. Since its not legal now, how could you possibly know what taxes would be applied to it? Where did you get the $2B number? A documentary on mendocino county in California. I believe it was based on estimation of course. For those people who arent familiar with Mendocino county, it produces alot of the marijuana supply in the US. Marijuana makes up about 2/3 of their local economy and it is estimated at about a Billion dollars a year. http://www.cnbc.com/id/28281668/
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 5, 2009 -> 09:46 AM) Hmm...no, I would not tell our young hitters to watch Ken Griffey, Jr., or Thome. It would be as illogical as telling them to imitate Willie Stargell's or Joe Morgan's "chicken wing" or Roberto Clemente stepping into the bucket on most of his swings, or Hank Aaron holding the bat cross-handed. FYI, learning from a hitter isnt copying his exact stance, swing path and quirks, but is watching some of the best hitters of all times approach at the plate, per at bat, certain pitchers and also situations. A swing only gets a player so far, its the hitter's strategy and adjustments that make them great. KGJ and Thome would probably be 2 of the 5 players I would tell a young hitter to watch.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 5, 2009 -> 09:43 AM) Actually most hitting coaches wouldn't mind players working like Thome, as he is a master at hitting the ball hard up the middle and the other way. He actually hits most of his homers in those directions, and not to RF. But, but, but. I only think of Thome as the 38 year old hitter he is today! If you told a hitting coach that he was going to work with players that ONLY put up an avg of .278 .405 .559 .964, im sure he would run the other way.
  5. Legalizing marijuana in just the state of California would bring around 2 billion dollars in tax money to the government.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 5, 2009 -> 09:37 AM) It's just the prevailing term (it might as well be Corpseball) for the tendencies of MOST of our offensive players over the last decade...of course, no hitting coach will say something like they prefer their players to all be like Thome (unless it's a ball hit to the OF). That would mean a major league record for strikeouts and balls hit off the end of the bat because of not covering the outside 1/3rd of the plate. You mean no hitting coach would want every player to be a HOF-caliber hitter? Huh? Your desperation is clouding your judgement. Take some time off from obsessing about the Sox, go outside, meet some girls, buy a thai hooker (no penis), do something else for a few days.
  7. QUOTE (T R U @ May 5, 2009 -> 02:49 AM) I dunno, there are still questions about Andre Smith and Rey Maualuga, not to mention the loss of TJ. They will be better for sure, but I don't know how much better. What questions? What position will they start at? They will both play ALOT this year. The only question around Smith was how the f*** is he so damn good with huge b**** tits.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 5, 2009 -> 09:27 AM) Nobody can argue that we have no quality depth among position players ? So we have alot of depth? How's the view from the ledge?
  9. This thread is more embarrassing that anything Kenny has done.
  10. Stacey King has grown on me as well. He had a long way to go in my eyes considering how much I hated him when his lazy fat ass "played" for the Bulls, but I think he adds a touch of attitude that a younger generation likes to hear on a broadcast, and he also isnt afraid to disagree.
  11. Does Nix play SS? I really liked his bat.
  12. QUOTE (mr_genius @ May 2, 2009 -> 07:24 PM) a total waste of resources. 180 grams is probably less than a dealer would carry in his car. Nice work police. BTW, the 15 lbs of weed you didnt find is still being distributed and smoked on campus.
  13. The Sedin sisters are so gay. They wont grow playoff beards because it would ruin their perfectly manicured fire red facial hair that ensures they look exactly like each other at all times.
  14. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 06:28 PM) So, yesterday I was running for the third straight day (having run 3 miles Monday and Tuesday) and had the unfortunate experience of irritated skin on my....balls. I'm guessing if I've experienced this others must have as well. The problem seemed to be for those two days prior, my balls were flipping and flopping against the fabric of my boxers and thighs. I've run, in the past, 1.5 miles five days a week without a problem; so it must be that 1.5 mile addition that has caused problems. Thankfully, I was running outside on a track and no one noticed, but the discomfort was enough to where I literally had to stop moving. It felt like someone was pinching my skin whenever it rubbed against something. Moral of story -- wear underwear, not boxers, when running. Learn from my mistake, Soxtalk. Boxer briefs work wonders for sports vs boxers. Gotta keep those boys a little tighter in there.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 07:57 PM) Illinois currently counting 41 potential cases. Probable cases which havent been tested.
  16. Thats a good moment for Noah who has really come into his own the second half of this year.
  17. moving pick gets ben his 5th. VDN is coaching the Bulls out of this game. This switching defense is garbage and has been exposed for the last 5 min.
  18. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 08:12 PM) Eh that's a pretty cheap foul to call IMO, especially this late in the game. Bulls***. A moving pick is a much more important foul to call than the crap reaches and body fouls they have been calling. They have been clearing space by using moving picks for 3 pointers all game. Thats a foul you have to call.
  19. every single screen Davis and Perkins have been setting have been moving.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 06:50 PM) Opinions from people watching...think Rondo is in for game 7 or not? He will be if the Bulls win, but he SHOULDNT be.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 06:46 PM) No, he just flung Hinrich into the scorer's table. Aaron Gray needs to become a Chicago legend and punch that ugly mother f***er right in his face. Yeah, he ONLY physically attacked another player. The NBA needs to do something here. Twice in two games this punk has intentionally attacked Bulls players. If this was Utah, Hou, or even the Bulls instead of Boston he would have been suspended.
  22. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 01:26 PM) Wow. Are you... Seriously? I agree with him. He wasnt that good of a pitcher. Good thrower, yes, not a great pitcher.
  23. Jordan is supposed to be a plus fielder while Sweeney was criticized for his power because he projected as a corner guy.
  24. Also, shutting the borders over flu is just downright ridiculous, so Im guessing thats another reason.
  25. I was hoping for a Brandon Allen opening....
