QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 10:01 PM) Everybody says this s***...and I just don't see it. How was '05 different from '09 speed lineup wise? 2005 Speed/non slow - LF, CF, 2b 2009 Speed/non slow - LF, CF, 2b, SS, 3b Fields is faster than Crede - 09 Xei is faster than Uribe - 09 Getz is faster than Gooch - 09 Wise/Anderson is faster than Rowand - 09 Pods was faster than TCQ - 05 Thome vs. Everett/Hurt = wash AJP, Dye, PK were never "fast" Those don't add up to us being "slower" this year. We won the WS in 2005 because of pitching....thats all there is to it, Pods/Rowands "grindyness" did not win us a ring. We hit homeruns and our pitching shut everybody the f*** down, simple as that. People need to stop romanticizing that we were winning every game with a god damn bunt, steal, and suicide squeeze.....it did not happen like that. More than half our lineup has speed yet people are still calling us "slow." Its a bad cop out by people that are just frustrated with 2 of the probably 60+ losses we will have this season.

QUOTE (qwerty @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 08:08 PM) His bat speed is slower than it has ever been, it is very noticeable. I disagree, I think his bat speed is perfectly fine, in fact at times he is a little too quick through the zone. He needs to wait on the pitch a bit more IMO. And BTW, I know you havent seen him hit at every level since he was drafted so the "ever has been" is a pretty bad generalization.

QUOTE (qwerty @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 05:54 PM) Since there is technically no official date of summer (most like to set the date around the 15th-20th of june) we can come up with the next best thing. From june 15th until july 13th he was out injured. Once konerko came back he only went on to put up a .910 ops in his remaining 54 games. pwned

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 12:28 PM) Robinske will be a player in the league. I love the fact that his father is a WR coach, and that he was a ball boy and got a chance to watch pro-WR growing up. I think we should take this kid or make a minor trade to be able to pick him -- if possible. He's like 6'3 and will RUN GOOD ROUTES!!!! he might not have Heyward-Bey speed, but he has size and the knowledge to make an immediate impact. You also have to admire the fact that he played on the big stage at OSU and played against good in conference and out of conference defenses. He takes alot of plays off however. His routes arent that great, but his speed is underrated and he has good hands, not great, but good. He would be a pretty good #2 or #3 for a team. -
QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 04:38 PM) I think we need to stop the hand-wringing about Alexi. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't everybody deriding the "Cuban Missle" this time last year because he couldn't hit anything? By the end of the season he was The Man, cranking grand slams out to save our playoff hopes. I think it's a cold weather thing with him. He's very aggressive and eager to hit. He looks 100% the same as he did in the first series last year.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 08:16 PM) This is getting very bad. I am not excited to watch anymore. First 20 have been awful. I couldnt disagree with you more.

I think that everyone is making too much of the opening series of the year. The guys are pressing too much in their at bats and are out in front of breaking balls and underneath good fastballs. They will relax. I suggest everyone stops predicting doom for the really good hitters on this team like Q, Dye, Alexei etc. They will all be fine.

QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 07:00 PM) Chris Rongey is definitely a WhiteSox fan. He covers the WhiteSox for WSCR. He's been the host of WhiteSox Weekly for the last couple of years. And he's been doing post-game radio breakdowns of the games; interviews with all the players, coaches, etc., etc. Has been a sub in the radio booth during games... How could anybody say he's not a WhiteSox fan? Because he's not. Its his job and he's trying to do well and move up in the business.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 06:36 PM) Rongey is a Cardinals fan... He'd be the last person to like the Cubs lol. Don't know about Roan though. Rongey likes the Cubs, but overall really isnt a sports guy. He got into radio and was placed into this role and is trying to make the best of it.

QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 02:53 PM) When you go to San Fran you should check out Fort Worth. Go down to the wharf and just walk around as well. I'd sample the sourdough pizza and I recommend the crab melt sandwich at the franciscan overlooking the Rock.

So, the final result was a little different than I thought when I started. I gave up on registering my car somewhere else, as the insurance implications worried me. I have a hard time committing to three years or more on a car which was really hurting my process until I found swapalease.com and found a short 2-ish year lease on a car that was pretty affordable with basically no money down. I now can use that money I was going to put down as an advance payment on the lease which eliminates almost an entire year of payments.

He isnt loading up his bat as much which is helping him catch up to fastballs. He also seems to recognize pitches better, so that could be the lasik.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 29, 2009 -> 10:40 PM) Spartans-Heels, UNC takes it. Yup.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 11:05 PM) Pavano is gonna be a solid #3 What makes you think that exactly? Is it the 26 games he's pitched since 2004? Is it because he's older than Buehrle, yet has pitched about half as many innings? Oh and he's 3 years older than Mark. His 4.32 ERA mostly in the NL isnt exactly impressive either. Oh wait, Matt Clement, who just retired because of injuries over the last 3 seasons (like Pavano), pitched about 400 more innings than Carl, with a better BAA. Pavano should be considered a #5 AT BEST.
-
Funny how alot of "experts" like the Indians rotation yet call Bartolo a "question mark." What would you call a Pavano as a #3 starter then?

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Apr 5, 2009 -> 10:40 PM) Rock, keep it up. I'm looking forward to more updates. The thing about P90X that interests me most is the different stages of its design. Week 3 started. Last week I would say I was very sore from the legs/back workout, but it was a good sore, the kind where you can feel muscles you havent really worked on before as much which is a good step. Tonight I have to do shoulders and back I believe, and after my vball game somehow. I cheated this weekend on diet, mostly because I got roaringly drunk on friday. Oh well. Just got to get back on the horse.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 5, 2009 -> 10:29 PM) For a game that needed about 63 minutes to see a dent on the scoreboard AND had very little in the way of shots on goal, that was an extremely exciting game to watch, one of the best Hawks games I've seen all year and I've watched most of them. It was playoff caliber hockey, which is great to see. Nash is so good, it looked like he was everywhere last night. -

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 5, 2009 -> 09:37 PM) Campbell's the best player ever! I don't agree, but at least you are continuing your back and forth views on his play. -
QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 4, 2009 -> 07:42 PM) I hope that the Sox can get Derrek Lee from the Cubs whenever Hoffpauir takes over at 1B. Why exactly? He's clearly on the downside of his career and is the same age as our current 1B. By the time he's gone, he probably wont be as good as our in house replacements.

It would be nice to see MSU win it and have their last loss to my Buckeyes. I cant see it happening though. UNC is pretty damn good.

Im getting sound no video with hulu on my PS3, help?

QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 11:31 PM) Cutler is sub .500 in his career and has never had a winning season, but many still consider him a franchise QB as well. You're right. He is top 10 and most consider him a lock for top 5 QB in the NFl for the next several years. But yes, wins and losses are still something that acan be tracked.
