Can I get in on it?

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Mar 25, 2009 -> 11:01 PM) the parade along Madison St. in Forest Park This is still largely people from that area though which is nice. Plus the people who grew up and live there all know each other and basically police it themselves.
-
There will still be something going on next year in that area. The good thing is that there wont be buses and buses of kids from Wrigleyville and LP jumping on a bus at 8am alreayd wasted going to tear up "that south side area" for a few hours. The people that have been going down there the last several years are out of town transplants with zero respect for the area, the tradition and themselves.

Rosenthal: Melky Cabrera is on the block; Sox would be good fit
RockRaines replied to DaTank's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If there is a leadoff man/CF'er on the block that would be a good player for us, I am all for trading Poreda. I honestly dont see him as more than a pen arm anyway. -

Nice to see activity in here again, I was beginning to think Steve killed the entire thread. It would be nice to see some better defensive pressure than last night. I do like the offensive effort of the Bolland line. -
QUOTE (Stocking @ Mar 24, 2009 -> 05:24 PM) Ive been very tempted to purchase as well. Instead I am giving myself 90 true days by myself to see what results i can achieve. If i dont get results i hope for, ill purchase it. I hope you stay focused, I'd like to compare. I am 5'10, started at 186. I started march 1st, have been dieting, eating healthy, and doing cardio and lifting. good luck. I gained a bunch of weight in college and then quit smoking which added to it. I've been working out on my own for probably 5 years or so consistently seeing myself drop about 40 lbs and really get back into shape. I've hit a "plateau" IMO. Not so much in the weight loss or health arena as I keep myself busy playing multiple sports etc, but I think the toning and real BF% loss has somewhat hit its max in my current regimen. I'll keep everyone updated in how I am doing as well as BF loss and size.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 25, 2009 -> 12:44 PM) I grew up in Beverly, and most of my family is still there. My brother lives on 101st and Oakley and his house is ground zero for the parade before- and after parties. The last few years, everybody has been amazed the plug hasn't already been pulled. A half-million people and no public bathrooms, lots of underage intoxication and all of the liability associated with it, most of the attendees driving in from the north side, and using the neighborhood as a urinal. . . etc, etc. Maybe the event just got too big for its own good. Sad to see it go, but I can understand it. It was great in its grassroots beginning, but with the buses taking transplants and tourists from lincoln park down to the parade, its become the taste of chicago in a much smaller area.

www.chicagosports.com I posted this in another thread. I like it. Because of Getz being left handed that means AJP wont be in the 2 hole. I expect something like this opening day: 1.Getz 2B 2. Alexei SS 3. Quentin LF 4. Thome DH 5. Dye RF 6. Konerko 1B 7. AJP C 8. Fields 3B 9. BA CF

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 24, 2009 -> 05:25 PM) I think Turner would go some where in the late teens or early twenties. I know that Id love to see Turner playing with Rose the next few years. I dont know, he literally cannot shoot from farther than 15-16 feet. He will get to the free throw line ALOT in the NBA though. And he's an 80+percenter from the line. -
Thanks. I plan on keeping the title in Michigan so I dont have to move the car registration. I guess it alot like people who own a house in Fla and leave a car there. Insurance is there, registration, license plates, and cost.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 24, 2009 -> 03:00 PM) If you aren't a sure fire first round pick I don't think it is wise to go pro. If you are a sure fire first round pick there is really no reason to stay in school unless you really want to win a championship. If Turner doesn't hear he is a sure fire first round pick he should stay, if he is a lock for the 1st round he should go. Same with Buford and any other player. Hence why Mullens is going even though he clearly isnt ready to contribute. -
QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Mar 24, 2009 -> 02:47 PM) I had friends who lived in Warrenville but had a lake house in South Haven. They insured their mustang in MI and got it titled there b/c it was way cheaper. My uncle also has a cabin up in MI and I think he insures his porsche there...the thing is I think both of them had cars registered and insured in IL, but I am not completely sure. It sorta seems like they just did it with the sports cars to save on insurance. is there any way you could ask them about that? Because if its possible, I would like to do it, it saves 200 bucks per month on payments.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 24, 2009 -> 02:42 PM) He could just as easily become a better player by going pro and playing against the best in the world on a nightly basis and he would also be getting paid to do it. There really isn't any advantage to sticking around college if you are a sure fire first round draft choice. He's looking at late first, early second from what I've seen projected. If he continues his progression, leads the Big Ten or is top 3 in eery category like he was close to this season, and is a all american, he could go lottery next year. He's a 6'7" slasher and should only improve his stock IMO, especially if he adds an outside shot and some defense. Buford has nowhere to go but up. He cant play a lick of defense at this point. The Bucks get Lightly and Kecman back next season which will help the team overall as well. -
QUOTE (Texsox @ Mar 23, 2009 -> 04:59 PM) I believe it would depend on how your vacation cabin is titled. If you are the owner, and it isn't a time share kind of thing, I could see it working. Think about who would want to catch you. The cops really are not that interested. The biggest issue may be insurance. Your insurance company would care if you are paying Michigan rates and incurring Chicago risks. Right, so the insurance would need to be changed which could be a risk, as well as my tax returns could get tricky. Im thinking I am just screwed by the Chicago Tax laws and I'll just end up paying more than anyone else in the country for a car.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 24, 2009 -> 12:34 PM) I grabbed the p90x torrent a year ago and never really gave it a shot. I find it difficult to motivate myself at home. The pictures they have you take are motivating enough. I sit about 6'1" and 185 pounds but have areas on my body that I would like to lean and tone, and nothing gives you that motivation until you see a picture of yourself from the back and check out the mid section. I told myself I would give it 90 true days and I will try and stick to it.

Good Lord... (Stephen Strasburg)
RockRaines replied to Kenny Hates Prospects's topic in The Diamond Club
I'm willing to bet the kid isnt a long term top of the rotation pitcher in MLB. He is an injury risk IMO already and killer velo guys dont pan out as much as they are touted in HS and college. Just an opionion, but something about a kid putting that much tourque on his shoulder and elbow worries me. -
QUOTE (DBAHO @ Mar 24, 2009 -> 12:57 PM) I disagree. Look at these stats lines from the past 2 seasons. 07 - .252/.323/.419 08 - .242/.319/.357 That's a declining hitter right there. If I was going after an OF from the Angels, I'd go after Willits who you could prob get on the cheap right now. You got me before my edit. You're right, he blows.

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Mar 24, 2009 -> 12:55 PM) Is that PJ Hill gone, he seems like he is not very good. He's back. He's the best PG we have. He was a JUCO transfer. Crater was supposed to be the PG in waiting, but he threw a hissy and left. They have zero committs for next year and 2010 has a bunch of SG's. Matta really needs to hustle to get a PG in there fast. He thought Conley would be a 4 year player. -
I hate to say it, but GMJ is a pretty good fit outside of his contract situation. Until I saw his stats from the last 2 years. For some reason I thought he had a better year last season.

I'm in for the league, but still need to buy the game. Im going to run out at lunch today and grab it.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 24, 2009 -> 12:41 PM) Yeah, like I was saying in my last post, if he had shown the maturity he's showing now at the beginning of '07 when they needed it from him, the org. might not have felt the need to put us through the torture of Darin Erstad that year. We need to make a no mention of Erstad rule on here. I got a sick feeling when I saw his name.
