QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Feb 26, 2008 -> 01:59 PM) HOLY s*** THE PENS GET HOSSA!! Pens win the East in a walk-over. Armstrong, Christensen, Esposito and a 1st. Tallon couldn't beat that deal??? ugh, I wouldnt want him to. We can sign Hossa in the offseason if necessary. Thats alot of talent to give up for a rent a player. Would have loved kessel though. -

QUOTE(gbuk @ Feb 24, 2008 -> 04:59 PM) I have a hard time believing that OSU is anywhere near a tournament team. 8-6 in a weak Big Ten, with wins over none of the 4 teams ahead of you in the standings and the best non-conference wins over Syracuse and Florida (neither of which may make the tournament)...it's not good. Losses to Iowa and Michigan look pretty horrible too. I dont think you will find too many people that disagree with you. Their only saving grace is the tough schedule, which doesnt do much. Losing 78 percent of their scoring obviously hurt the team. Next year the Buckeyes will be one of the teams to beat in the Big Ten however. -

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Feb 24, 2008 -> 04:54 PM) osu's schedule finishes up like this: at indiana at minnesota vs. purdue vs. michigan state Tourney hopes dont look so hot for them this year, but for good reason, they just arent that good of a team. -

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Feb 24, 2008 -> 04:50 PM) Lots of booing from OSU fans, but lots of cheering from me. Strange end to that game, just glad that Wisconsin some how escaped. Hopefully OSU plays better the rest of the year beats MSU, Indiana, and Purdue? (The announcers said they still play all 3, I dont know and i havent checked so if thats wrong blame CBS not me) The Big Ten refs did Wisco a disservice by handing them that game, in the tourney they most likely lost that game to free throws. Pretty pathetic game by Butler but OSU still should have taken it. -

QUOTE(daa84 @ Feb 23, 2008 -> 09:11 AM) 95% of frats ive seen at many different schools dont care about the philanthropy events, usually philanthropy is mandated by the school and the frat puts forth a minimal effort for those events....thats not to say that those people in here aren't part of the 5% that do care Not everyone cares about those, but also not everyone's goals are to trash other peoples property or cause bodily harm to other people. Drinking is a norm in college whether you are part of an organization or not, being greek does not cause someone to become a bad person, in fact I would argue it does the opposite. -

QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 22, 2008 -> 04:08 PM) And what will fraternities do to improve their name? They actually do alot of things that dont get nearly as much press. The amount of money given to charities, working with underpriveleged children, helping the elderly, volunteering for the homeless, even helping habitat for humanity. Many brothers of mine went to third world countries to volunteer for the fraternity, of course those dont get any press. Of course to the outside person like the post above, everything is a "party" house based on drinking, never mind the actual friendships and bonds formed, never mind that there is probably 20 stories a year about drunked fraternity parties, and my house fed more than 100 times more families a year than there are stories in the paper, but of course that doesnt make headlines, nor make people come out of the cracks to attack the organization. Frankly its ok with me, its not supposed to be something that everyone likes, outsiders will always criticize things they dont know anything about, and its like that for many organizations across the country. In the world where there are people murdering innocent students in lecture halls for no reason, people in other countries are being blown up on their way to work, the paper needs something to get your attention from each day to the next, and thousands of fraternities across the country giving money to charity, helping make the world and their community a better place doesnt have the hook like partying kids do on the front page. Your reality is what you make it and just because there isnt a front page story about the overall positives of greek organizations, doesnt mean that it is a minor aspect or something we arent all proud of, it just means you dont have the vision to see it. -
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 21, 2008 -> 08:46 PM) Gooden's not that good. There's a reason he's on his 4th different team in about 5 seasons now. Decent offensive / low post player, but he's only a complimentary player, and defensively he's not that good. Says something that Cleveland would rather keep Varejao over him. Hughes unless he gets his jump shot back, is fairly useless. Just hasn't been the same since he left Washington. Simmonds I wouldn't expect much. The Hornets who are desperate for bench players dumped him before the season. But the Bulls traded Wallace, so there's something. I'd expect the Bulls to try and re-sign Deng, and Gordon will probably be in Memphis next season. Hughes is Ben Gordon but better defensively. I think we improve the team in both the low post and also defensively in the backcourt. Add a couple of solid bench players and the team is better, while trimming the fat.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Feb 21, 2008 -> 10:03 PM) I agree with Seal. I'm most excited about Swisher. Least excited about bringing back Uribe, of course, unless he makes a commitment to spray the ball to all fields which I guess will not happen. Swisher is going to mash, have a great attitude and play better CF than most think right now. Because of how small ours is, he will get to alot of balls, and his weakness wont be as evident as it was in Oakland. That OF could be a powerhouse offensively, with a great middle IF defensively, we could be ok.

I called it. Aaron, which means the demise of Claire, or shes left on the island. Nice.

You know how much having a cutter would improve Danks's game? He already somehow has a sneaky fastball that guys usually foul off. His curve is his best out pitch and his change is improving and could be a plus pitch. If he adds a cutter that looks like a fastball and moves, he could induce more ground balls and lower his hits and ERA. I just hope its true.

QUOTE(jenks45monster @ Feb 21, 2008 -> 05:46 PM) Personally, my worst was trading Chris Carter for Carlos Quentin. I just don't think Quentin will pan out as many think he will, and I think Carter is going to be a monster. And my best was trading for Swisher. How about you guys? I think its actually the opposite of what you said. Quentin has a huge upside and Carter projects as maybe a power hitting DH. Quentin is just worth more IMO and closer to his potential. He will be a monster corner OF'er for the sox for the next several years.

every video I see of Swisher he is walking or hitting with Thome.

QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Feb 21, 2008 -> 05:06 PM) Larry Hughes = Bye Bye Ben Gordon? I woudl think that would be the case. I really wanted Pax to flip someone for some picks, but this was a great trade. I have no idea what Cle was thinking.

His highest batting average was .294. His highest obp was .346. He shouldn't be instructing. Im more interested in why this thread is still open.

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Feb 17, 2008 -> 11:21 AM) i don't think the big ten is overrated at all. most rankings have it as the sixth or seventh best league in the country. pomeroy has it sixth behind the acc, pac-10, big 12, big east, and sec. that looks about right to me. The team rankings are, I wasnt speaking about the conference. I do not believe there is a top 10 team in the big ten this season. -
QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Feb 16, 2008 -> 05:11 PM) I think a lot of people use the forums as a tool to portray themselves a certain way with no consequences. Ive never met anyone from any of these forums before so its hard to gage how some people are in real life but theres that occasional ass hat that you know is full of s*** Ive met a couple of people from here, pretty much the same people.

QUOTE(sircaffey @ Feb 16, 2008 -> 11:00 PM) You don't think MSU is overrated at #9? I sure as hell do. They've been playing pretty average of late. Morgan's disappeared. The Big Tem overall is overrated. There isnt a clear cut top notch team in the bunch. -
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Feb 16, 2008 -> 11:25 PM) 77-85. Cubs are expected to finish 89-73. Discuss. I'd be really surprised if the cubs got that close to 90 wins. Their rotation is going to struggle this year with Dempster starting and one of the worst pens theyve had.

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Feb 15, 2008 -> 04:44 PM) if you're taking a hit in the vacation department, then hell yes you should ask for more money. my play would have been to set up 6 month performance appraisal with a bump in pay and vacation. If I work out, then you win...and therfore, I'm motivated to do my best because there is a serious amount of benefits involved. Ive been there twice in the last 4 years, and got the new company to add more money each time. It went up over 40k finally when the two job bidding was over.

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Feb 15, 2008 -> 02:09 PM) Bluestone is good, I went there. If you want just greasy food, Id recommend Buffalo Joe's. I dont think its really close to the stadium (its more by the Movie Theatre/El) but they have good wings, cheese burgers (they use the same cheddar cheese that Weiner Circle and Michaels have), waffle fries, etc. Back when I was in Evanston more I used to eat a lot of their food. good wings at Joe's. If you like those you would also like Birds Nest on southport in lincoln park. Those are my two faves. -
QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Feb 15, 2008 -> 10:51 AM) I think the Ben scene was a hallucination or dream at the end or Sayid has access to and from the island and the ending was on the island. I am starting to think Kate and Jack in the finale of season 3 may have been a dream as well........ What the hell was with all of Ben's passports and s***. Insane
