  1. QUOTE(lord chas @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 03:44 PM) if the bears were to win this would of been the year in a terrible NFC. the nfc north cant get any worse and the bears schedule looks brutal so 10 to 11 wins might be as good as it gets next year. their window of opportunity might have already closed. The Bears are clearly the best team in the NFC, I think they make the playoffs in any division.
  2. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 02:23 PM) What should Pax do if the Knicks pick ends up as the #1? Oden would fill a huge need for the Bulls. In fact I will say that i think he is better than Ben Wallace, right now.
  3. QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 12:42 PM) According to the News-Gazette, they were driving north on First Street which would signify that Jamar was driving Carlwell back to the dorms and unless they were drinking at Jamar's apt, they werent near bars. I had been out on the roads an hour before that and the roads were nasty. It snowed enough over night that all classes were cancelled today (the first time in my 6 years at this university that this happened). Thus, all signs point toward this being weather related. Prayers go out to the families. Great to hear Carlwell has been upgraded to stable. Looks like a rear wheel drive lexus. Those can get quite slippery in the snow.
  4. I have had many family members, close family memebers of best friends, friends and sister's best friend. It sucks just seeing them there. its good to remember, but it always sucks.
  5. Nothing more I hate than an open casket. The person never looks close to what you remember them as, and the vision of them laying there looking all distorted will always be burned into your brain.
  6. if he wanted to, he could easily get 20+ million a year. No problem.
  7. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 11:23 AM) ^^. Don't fret Rock. You'll be able to get some. Im pretty angry considering this is the first year I wasnt able to grab some for opening day with no problems. I dont even want to risk breaking a long standing tradition.
  8. Why would you want to build a roster like the Suns? So you can lose in the playoffs? The Suns arent anything without Steve Nash anyway, so teams should look to pick up one of the greatest point guards ever if they want to compete.
  9. Yeah, the coach gives you your best record ever, and he needs to go. This is why some franchises just dont win.
  10. QUOTE(Balance @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 10:52 AM) "Premium" ticket holders got first dibs on single game tickets, starting at 9:00 a.m. yesterday. Full and split season STHs got to start at 10:00 a.m. Given that most of us posting here got on at 10:01 yesterday and were pretty much shut out, I wonder how many "Premium" STHs there are. This obviously means the holders of the scout seats and suites, but still- why was this year so different from last year? Brokers have the passwords and season ticket accounts. They pretty much kill the supply.
  11. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 04:12 PM) Especially considering the field position that was given to them on every play due to Hester being such a threat on kickoffs. Hester didnt really get the ball much all game.
  12. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 04:07 PM) Either Rock is being sarcastic. Or its the fact that OSU has not beat anyone in the top 25 on the road. So far their best win would be, Indiana at home. Not really a resume a top 5 team would generally have. Most of their ranking comes from the hype surrounding their freshman. Im not saying OSU is not a great team, just that at this point (prior to them beating Wisconsin @ OSU) its hard to understand how they are ranked above UNC and Wisconsin who both beat them, albeit on the road but what else can you compare? Also the higher ranked you are the harder the teams play against you. Works out well for Wisconsin because we play PSU and Minnesota, so hopefully they are all excited about taking down 2 ranked OSU, and not 3 ranked Wisconsin. Nope not being sarcastic. We are being ranked on talent alone, and are ranked above two teams that beat us. Now if we beat Wisco at home, then maybe we can move up there. At this point, nope. Even though our losses are all against great teams, we shouldnt be #2.
  13. Wow, they need to realize that OSU is not the #2 team. Why oh why do they keep moving us up so high?
  14. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 03:06 PM) He fell down trying to get away from McFarland who was in the backfield about 1 second after the snap and about to clobber him anyway. The other time he fell down it was on one of the botched snaps. I love how you make it seem like he just fell during a routine handoff or something. O-line was terrible. Olin has some trouble with the bigger DT's ive noticed.
  15. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 01:27 PM) Sweeney may not have had amazing numbers in his short stint with the big club but he looked a boatload more confident and comfortable at the plate. My biggest problem with Anderson, offensively speaking, is how completely lost he still looks. His development may just be similar to Joe's, who prior to last year would look completely lost at times and early on in Joe's career he looked lost a whole lot. Ryan is much more of a guarantee at being a solid every day player than Anderson is and Sweeney also has the ability to be a star. Anderson does have one thing, he should always have a roster spot simply as a defensive replacement but he does have the ability to be an all star centerfielder (if he can figure out how to hit and yes the tools are there, but that by no means guarantees he'll be able to hit). I agree. The thing about Sweeney is that he already has the swing to play in the majors, he also is just a notch below Anderson defensively, which says alot about how much he has come around. BA has to change his swing a bit, and it is still very long and not very fluid. Sweeney just llooked so much better at the plater. I also echo this with Fields. Josh looked like he already knew the MLB strike zone.
  16. there were alot of people at fault. the O line and d line were both terrible. The safeties were atrocious. The TD to Wayne was ridiculous. Even still we were in it to the end.
  17. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 12:32 PM) I was joking around in the Bears thread. I didn't like all this agreeing we'd had of late. i still think the Raiders of a few years back was one of the worst teams of all time. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 01:09 PM) I am in the middle on this. Downey has been a pathetic, cheerleading, pom pom waving and skirt wearing Bears homer all year....but at the same time, they DID make the Super Bowl. The problem is, the Bears would have been the 5th best team in the AFC, so really they were the 5th best team in football, but just so happened to be in a different conference than the 4 better ones. Interesting debate though. Better than the bears: indy (playoff indy) San Diego Pats (tie IMO)
  18. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 11:27 AM) This is kinda related to this topic but does anyone read or subscribe to Men's Health? If so is it a good magazine to learn about nutrition and excercising or is it must about supplemental pills and etc? I do. i find it gives me new workouts sometimes that helps break routines, also it has great recipes (that may sound kinda gay) that really are easy for guys and are healthy.
  19. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 10:47 AM) This is complete BS all Opening Day and Cubs were gone at 10:00. Weekends are just about gone. Yikes. I have weekend games for sale, check the ticket thread. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 11:18 AM) The season ticket line is the key. We used that a ton last season, and always found prime seats. shhhhh
  20. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 10:44 AM) I'm 35 years old and have reconnected with high school friends and former co-workers through MySpace. Yeah, it's cheesy, but not everyone uses it to find underage girls. Plus, I love it for the band and comedy pages. Im surpirsed a 35 year old knows how to use the internet......
  21. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 10:29 AM) I use mine for marketing my 'zine. There is no way I would have been able to do what I have without My Space. Funny that somebody with over 10,000 posts on a message board would make fun of people who use My Space and an inability to communicate with people in the real world. Are message boards the same as Myspace? From what i've seen, not really. Im on here to discuss sports and my favorite team and its day to day activities. Nor do I use it to meet up with or try to meet up with other people. Myspace seems to be a place for stalking of underage girls, and a contest to see who has the most lame friend requests. Im not sure much indepth discussion of the whitesox takes place on myspace.
  22. Wow, this will be the first time in many many years where I will have to buy some opening day tickets somewhere else.
  23. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 10:06 AM) last year I was able to get 2 extra opening day and 2 extra cubs tickets....today, nothing...apparently all gone. This is the first year I have not been able to get presale opening day tickets. The brokers must have raped the site. NYY are still there however. Cubs gone, opening day gone.
