  1. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jan 30, 2007 -> 04:24 PM) He can play first base, he can play the corners. If he can't play center field as he once did, as Jason said, I can't imagine him being any worse than a major league average center fielder. I suppose you are right though that the White Sox should know with certainty that he can play and be healthy, so I'm going to take that mindset and say that the White Sox think he is healthy. Well we know they may think he is healthy, and he was cheaper than Stewart. I still think he plays a majority of his time in the corner spot, especially when PODS is out.
  2. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jan 30, 2007 -> 04:19 PM) I couldn't care less that this horse died. As has been mentioned, the damn thing has been put through so much trouble as is. Have you seen the damn x-ray from the surgeries that they put that poor horse through? crazy.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 30, 2007 -> 08:13 AM) The flip side to that is now many companies will introduce an item with the best materials and construction techniques and then gradually "take cost out" until the public complains then builds a new and improved model. With improved design tools and production techniques I'm just not as worried about buying the first year's model. I believe this was truer when designs were more fly by the seat of your pants, hand drawing, and guessing if it will work. I wouldnt compare a physical item like a car with software. With a car you can manually test alot of the features. Software constantly has to be patched or fixed, and its an assumed natural evil of the world. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jan 30, 2007 -> 09:45 AM) Microsoft is paying a lot of the puppet security research facilities funded by Microsoft to proclaim the security better than anything out on the market, which is a load of crap. These are the same moronic research facilities that state that large Unix systems are not as powerful or reliable than a Windows box The gaunlet has been thrown down. There will be a mix of malware and attacks, some that affect all of the Windows family due to compatibility issues and ones that are Vista specific. Unix is awesome BTW. I sell and work with software and I know how bad the initial releases can be, especially with a new product. There will be at least 2 hotfixes in the next month or two, maybe more. Then a service pack etc etc. Im sure that alot of people have already written some good code to drop in a Vista system to test it out.
  6. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 30, 2007 -> 11:13 AM) For anyone that watched the AAA All-Star game last year, or saw the Futures game.....the thing about Josh is he swings hard and misses...quite a bit. However, when he makes contact, it's a rocket quite a bit of the time. He's going to struggle, but I think he'd hit better than BA did in the first half if brought up right now. That ball sure does jump off of his bat.
  7. Im struggling to wrap my brain around something. EVERYONE and i mean EVERYONE talks about how powerful the colts offense is, and how they do nothing but put up points. Indianapolis points per game 26.7 Bears points per game 26.7 Indianapolis total TD's 50 Chicago Total TD's 47 I guess I dont understand where all these crazy scoring games came from.
  8. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jan 30, 2007 -> 11:23 AM) Wallace Gasol Deng Hinrich Gordon thats a helluva team, if possible. Sure is. Not too thrilled about givning up on Tyrus so soon. But its a necessary evil.
  9. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 30, 2007 -> 08:15 AM) lol, hate to bring it to you but in terms of how mmorpg's go, there is no game you can lvl faster in than WoW. Basicly only play when you have rested xp and just do instances/quests the whole time and you should be lvling asap atleast until the 50's. Ok that makes sense. The hard part is finding someone to walk you through all the intances
  10. hahaha. The discs dont do anything, i know thats what the guy was thinking
  11. QUOTE(ptatc @ Jan 29, 2007 -> 07:22 PM) The "most" is just from my experience with the pitchers as they are not admitting to the public they did steroids. Unless you have stats on all of the admitted steriods users. As I said before strength is not correlated to speed of the pitch. A drop in pitch speed would not be linked to strength. An injury, change in mechanics or drop in weight could be linked more easily. I'm not saying they can't be linked it's just that from people I've talked to they seem to think that it's more of an endurance recuperation issue not strength. Which makes sense in light of the lack of evidence which correlates strength and pitch speed. Once again, not ALL steroids are for increasing of strength. There are several different kinds. Its not a white bottle that is marked "steroids" and you take it for everything. There are substances that you take that can increase your fast twitch muscle fiber, there are steroids for strength and building muscle, there are even steroids that help you cut your body into leaner muscle. IMO Koch was on the juice, he may not have been looking for strength gains, he could have been looking for rebuilding substances that help him throw harder each game because his recovery time is ridiculous, it could be the fast twitch muscle substances that helped him snap the ball quicker in his delivery. Whatever the case, I believe that he took them, and I think its clear that he may have. Its my opinion, it wont get anyone on the site in trouble, im not mentioning sources or anything. I am saying, to me, it looks like he was one of the more obvious juicers that had come through our clubhouse.
  12. This deal is a no-brainer for the Red-sawks IMO. But we shall see. IMO I didnt think that any of those spects would really be a stud or anything of the sort, but I dont know that much about them to tell the truth.
  13. Just a funny caveat. I dont know how many people watched the super bowl special tonight on CBS, but they had Patrick snap a football through a wreath. Then a red snapper, butterball turkey among other things. He nailed all of them. I think he may be one of the most underrated players on the bears, and he has always been a fav of mine. But I thought this was hilarious.
  14. QUOTE(ptatc @ Jan 29, 2007 -> 04:31 PM) actually most pitchers who have taken steriods say it doesn't necessarily increase velocity but it increases your endurance to hold the velocity over a game or to recover more quickly before the next game. This has a lot to do with the fact that strength is not directly correlated to pitch speed. People use the term arm strength and equate pitch speed. however this is not always true. Can I see the stats on the term "most." Koch was a juicer. 100 MPH one day, 92 mph the next. The guy is out of baseball like that. Im sorry if you love him or whatever, but the guy was a one and done bust in the midst of the steroid era.
  15. Man, we barely beat an inferior opponent in MSU and somehow go up in the rankings? How does this thing even work?
  16. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 29, 2007 -> 06:04 PM) And the problem is how many of those guys are available in the NBA? On your list, it all comes down to whether or not you consider guys like Garnett and Boozer 4 and 5's, even though I consider them purely 4's. I would still take Gasol over Camby (strength and injury factor), and maybe Okur (more of an outside shooter for a big man) and certainly Shaq. The rest are all pretty close. And yes players like Deng don't come available everyday either. But a player like Luol Deng isn'ta franchise player, he isn't a guy who you build your team around. When I'm building a team, I start from the inside out, and I think Gasol is argubly a franchise center to build around. Personally I think Bulls fans overrating Deng and Gordon a little and undervaluing Gasol a little, but I can understand why you'd want to keep those 2 young players are part of the nucleus long - term. It's all a matter of opinion anyways. Agreed, we just have two different ideas of what the team needs. Bulls fans saw 6 title won with basically just serviceable big guys and dynamic guards and forwards, so its somewhat a skewed opinion of how to build a team. I view Deng as being the best player on the team moving forward and I just couldnt bring myself to trade him, thats all.
  17. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 29, 2007 -> 04:37 PM) They're totally different players though. Gasol gives you that inside scorer that the Bulls desperately need, while Deng is more of a slasher. I totally disagree that Gasol isn't a top 5 center (from your earlier post) in the league though. Look at his competition; Yao Ming - Best in the NBA. So that's 1. Shaq - Chronically injured. So I'd rather Gasol. Brad Miller - Doesn't get enough rebounds, and has been injured lately. Wallace - Doesn't give you much on the offensive end. Dwight Howard - I'd rather Dwight. So that's 2. Eddy Curry - Close, because he's come on this season, but doesn't give you much else besides points. So I'll take Gasol. The guy you draft at #11 obviously isn't going to have the same potential as Deng, but he should be a pretty good starting SF in time nonetheless. And considering the likes of Gasol aren't made available very often, that's why I think the Bulls should bite the bullet and go for it. Guys like Deng arent available very often either. I dont see Gasol as being the difference maker for the Bulls. He doesnt rebound as well as he should and plays the perimeter a bit much like a forward would. What the Bulls need to turn the corner is a true big man who plays the post and rebounds, and has the ability to take on bigger centers like Shaq and Howard. And we arent going to see eye to eye on the top 5 thing. There are more than 5 better C/f than Gasol IMO. Camby Ming Okur Shaq Duncan Stoudemire J Oneal Boozer Howard Okafor Garnett I might even take Curry instead of Gasol.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jan 29, 2007 -> 02:28 PM) I wouldnt be first on the block to get this. I would wait until the first service pack is out for it. That is usually the gage we use to put it into production. The next thing is to verify that your apps will work with it. And make sure your PC can handle it. The new security features look promising, however I will wait until its out in the world in production when the malware people get their hands on it. The religious OS wars will be pretty snippy this time between Apple and Microsoft. Jesus, the first few SP's will correct numerous security weakness and glitches. Anyone who is serious about their PC is better off waiting for it to be corrected down the line. I cant even imagine the hacker's who are just drooling for a crack at the new OS.
  19. The rotation stacks up better this way anyway.
  20. Koch=roids I cant believe its being taken the other way. Surprise loss of velocity, almost 10 mph? come on. The guy was a text book roider IMO
  21. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jan 29, 2007 -> 03:50 PM) ESPN movie no lesss "The battling Barbaro" the tale of a horse with a winning spirit and a never say die heart.
  22. QUOTE(hi8is @ Jan 29, 2007 -> 01:21 PM) boston scares me this year... they have some killer starting pitching, a decent bullpen, and an already great line up... add in helton.... look out good thing they're my 2nd favriote team. =D Their bullpen should be their main weakness. Boston has offered right-handed pitcher Julian Tavarez, who is guaranteed $3.1 million in 2007, and third baseman Mike Lowell, who is guaranteed $9 million. In addition, the Rockies gave the Red Sox a list that includes five prime prospects -- center fielder Jacob Ellsbury, and right-handed pitchers Daniel Bard, Manny Delcarmen, Craig Hansen and Clay Buchholz -- and said one would have to be in the deal. They would consider substituting Jon Lester, who underwent chemotherapy for a non-Hodgkin's lymphoma last year, pending medical approval. But Boston GM Theo Epstein has refused to expand his offer past Lowell and Tavarez.

I've tested it, didnt think it was anything special. It wont get real stress tests until large corps put it into their systems....next year
  24. Finally, if this was someone's dog, they would have been put to sleep a long time ago. The suffering they put this horse through was ridiculous.
