Maybe they would include Pat Burrell in the deal? I know they want to unload him and his salary, but Im sure we could handle it getting rid of Garcia or Vaz. Put him in LF, A-row in CF, Rollins at SS? Just xboxing it up over here!!

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 11:48 AM) Terrible move for the White Sox. Would they throw in Hamels? Sure. I guess I just like Rollins too much, because I think he gives us a better lead off hitter and a long term SS who isnt so frustrating to watch hit. Maybe its just me.

QUOTE(ChiSox9 @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 11:28 AM) Just a thought but, I dont think Garcia/Crede would work straight up for A-Rod and Melky. Yanks are also looking for a 1st basemen... I think: Garcia/Crede/Gload would be able to pry both A-Rod and Melky away. Gload has no trade value, so not really. I do not think we match up that well, in this trade, considering A-rod is one of the best in the game, has to waive his no trade, and had a pretty large spat with our manager last season. This is NYC media fodder, and thats that.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 1, 2006 -> 02:01 PM) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewP1zfm_Yqg I guess this is kind of bad, but funny no less. So let me get this straight, a bunch of computer gamers had a funeral for someone in their make-believe world? I would have attacked it too.

Scott Podsednik Re-Signs with White Sox
RockRaines replied to Colorado Sox Fan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Alot of things have been said about how good PODS is or how bad, but regardless, KW signed him for lower than market value, which means he is even more attractive via trade, or is a bargain for the SOX. -

QUOTE(Brian @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 09:29 PM) Florida won the SEC because they had a legit title game, Michigan never had a chance to play in one. yes they did, it was the best chance you will ever see teams have in the Big Ten. Win the game, go to the BCS title game, win your conference. They lost. End Game. Wojehowski on ESPN.com wrote a rant b****ing about why Michigan got jobbed for all those people on that side of the fence. Of course, I wouldnt expect anything different from a Tennessee Grad. -
I also dont see A-rod waiving his no trade to play for Ozzie either.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 09:00 PM) But the other side of the token is...what is the one thing that always, always seems to kill teams in the playoffs? Turnovers. I still think the Bears can win in the playoffs with Grossman at QB, but they can't if he keeps playing like this. You can't turn the ball over 2+ times every game and expect to win in the playoffs. You just can't. True. turnovers will kill a team, but at the same time, our defense creates more turnovers than anyone. Rex will settle down, as I didnt think that today was all his fault, playing in that weather is hell on a QB, and you could tell that the WR's were not doing much to help him out at all. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 09:10 PM) I understand that Ron Turner sucks but honestly you make it sound like Rex has been doing nothing wrong. The dude turns the ball over at obscene rates. From the Arizona game till now he has averaged 2 picks per game. If Grossman could stop forcing the f***ing ball and limit turnovers we would be in fine shape, but when you continually give the other team the ball and botch scoring opportunities you are in trouble. Bears fans, or at least my, expectations for Rex are ridiculously low. There is 1 goal: Don't turn the damn ball over. And he can't even meet that. Rex just isnt that type of QB, and he may learn to be more conservative, but its not his nature. Turner hasnt adjusted his play calling the least several weeks. At the beginning of the season we were dropping long pass plays on defenses at a ridiculous rate. Defenses adjusted and started bringing the pressure to give Rex less time to throw. At that point, Turner should have adjusted his game plan to allow for more quick drops and passes into the middle of the field, to the TE and crossing WR's. Yet he is still calling double moves, long passes and long drops by Rex. Rex has made some bad throws and reads, but at the same time, I blame Turner for not putting him in a postion to succeed.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 08:50 PM) If you think this team can win a playoff game, let alone the Super Bowl, with Rex at QB.....your not watching the games. This quote really says it all to me: "Holding him to 34 [passing yards], 24 net, that's the type of game we should hold a quarterback like that to." —Vikings' safety Darren Sharper Although surprisingly candid, it's right. And yet they lost. How did "best game managing qb in the NFL" Brad Johnson do on that field today? Take a quick look at some of the recent teams to win a superbowl, and who was the QB. How about the Champs who had GREAT defenses like the bears do? Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, Big Ben. They have a chance to not only make the superbowl, but win it as well. Apparently you havent taken a look at the NFC teams in the playoffs and how mediocre all of their QB's are.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 08:40 PM) He also had a higher QB rating in a lot of action for Denver in his career than JOHN ELWAY for a reason. He's not great, but he's the only hope if the Bears want any shot at Miami. Please stop. Dont compare an avg QB to a hall of famer. Griese had ONE good season and thats what you are basing this on? (and when I say good, I mean good, it doesn even touch Elway) Come on, take your head out of the clouds and dont compare the two ever again. Rex is the QB, he has more talent than Griese and is a team leader. Everyone needs to find another outlet for the b****ing about the NFC North Division Champion Chicago Bears.

A-rod would make this lineup ridiculous, and I dont know who wouldnt be in favor of getting rid of Crede (who is leaving anyway) and Freddy, (who is also leaving). With that said, this looks like NYC media fodder to me.
-
QUOTE(gosox41 @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 06:51 PM) It's not ideal but IMHO it's a better option then Fields. I know Crede is a great glove and all and Figgins isn't nearly as good. But if Ozzie can justify Mackowiak in CF then I can see Figgins at 3B. Bob, I would rather have fields playing 3B. Figgins may come up with a sub .900 FPCT at the hot corner, and that is just terrible.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 07:21 PM) Turner has been f***ing awful about the last 5 weeks. I also want to know where Benson was. Jones wasn't doing s*** against the stud Viking run defense while Benson was kicking ass. Benson is our best back and I've been saying that for a couple weeks. More Benson...less Rex (no not benched, but better play calling cause the s*** we are calling is absolutely awful) ...similar dose of Thomas Jones. I agree 100 percent. Benson was averaging over 5 yeards per carry, and basically was getting at least 4 yards with no hole, yet Jones comes back in to dance behind the O-line. Turner is the one who is calling the slow developing routes, with the only check down the RB coming out of the backfield for 2 yards. I am so surprised in a city who runs O-coordinators out of town on a regular basis, that nobody has pointed the finger as his horrendous play calling the last several games. Also, the WR's are running terrible routes from what I see and havent made as much of an effort to make the play. Rex made one horrible throw today because he didnt see the LB, but the other two picks werent as bad as people are making them out to be. Also he did a good job checking down several times, but the only option on those plays were crap passes for 3 yards. When you play a team like the Vikes you have to attack the seams, and we didnt do that at all. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 08:31 PM) Today wasn't all Rex's fault, as the moron that is Ron Turner was pathetic....but Rex was just as pathetic. And they are going to stick with Rex it seems like, so when they lose their first playoff game again, be depressed, but don't be surprised. Unless Tom Brady becomes available via trade, we are better off with what we have. Griese is a back up QB in the NFL for a reason.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 07:27 PM) You look at the body of work, so yes it's perfectly reasonable for Florida (or any team) to leapfrog Michigan. If this weren't possible at all, you'd have an advantage for playing your games earlier in the season and not having a championship game. This whole "how can Michigan go down if they didn't play" sentiment is stupid. Other teams have a right to play out their schedule, and then you compare resumes. Michigan already played OSU, and lost. And their resume certainly isn't better than Florida's. Wow, best post yet. Alot of people are forgetting that FLA won the SEC and had the hardest schedule. -
With figgins in CF, crawford in LF, where is PODS playing that he is hitting 9th? I hope to god you arent suggestion Figgins as an everyday 3B.

Bears win their division for the second year in a row. I, for one, think Ron Turner called a terrible game today, and it appeared the WR's were running lazy routes, not to mention the drops.

QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 04:14 PM) Rock you going out there for the game? I get out there Saturday and am playing some golf on Sunday. I'll be there althought I havent secured my tix as of yet, still waiting on those. The tailgate should be solid. -
wow, I wouldnt make that trade. If thats all we could get for Buehrle, then its better to keep him.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Dec 2, 2006 -> 12:37 PM) No, those aren't "similar". Very few of those guys have been as good as consistently as Riske. Those who arguably have been are old or lh or both. Russ Springer has had seasons like 2006 Politte recently (seasonS, plural). I saw a lot of Hawkins this year. You think Riske looked bad? Rick White? You're telling me that if you were a gm you'd really think White and Riske are interchangeable? Matt Herges had a whip of 1.7 last year, and sucked every which way in 2005. Gagne will be more expensive and often broken. If you compare career numbers, Riske's better than almost every pitcher on that list. And Kline's a Giant. Riske's numbers are a bit of a mirage. He pitches great when the game is out of hand or not on the line which aids his ERA, but as the last three teams he has played for foud out, he is absolute crap when he needs to stop runs from scoring, or keep the other team at bay. He is one of those players where his numbers are misleading.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 12:53 AM) Why should the last few years matter into this season? Just trying to find something to argue? Look at what I was responding to, then post. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 12:43 PM) It doesn't matter if the series would be tied up 1-1 because that is the championship game. In Super Bowl XXXIV, the Titans and Rams played and in the regular season, the Titans beat the Rams but in the Super Bowl, the Rams beat the Titans. That means the series is tied at 1-1, should they play another game for the tiebreaker? You put the 2 best teams in it and if you think the Florida Gators are the 2nd best team that's ok, but don't say no to Michigan because you don't like them, or don't want to play them again. Funny that you bring up a league where there is a playoff system and try to compare it to the BCS, considering its a completely apples and oranges comparison. The only argument coming up is, oooo you dont want to play them again. Apparently nobody actually watched the game, as OSU had the game from their first drive, secondly they are 5-1 against UM with tressel as the coach, and we are nails in bowl games. I just dont want to see a split national title, which would happen if UM beat OSu in the BCS title game. I dont understand everyone saying that UM deserves to even be in this game. They didnt win their conference, they already lost to the team in the game, and FLA won the SEC with the hardest schedule and only lost 1 game in the process. The SEC champion deserves to be in this game, or consideration for this game EVERY year. QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 03:22 PM) That sucks..... I think UM would of took it too OSU at a neutral site. Yes, the warmer weather, better field condition and a majority of the fans being OSU fans would definately hurt their offensive production away from the shoe. -

QUOTE(danman31 @ Dec 2, 2006 -> 11:07 PM) The thing is that Michigan lost by 3 in Columbus. What if the game is in Ann Arbor, Michigan wins, and the tables are turned? A rematch can be justified, but I'm not sure it's the best thing for college football. A new opponent would make sense. the game wasnt as close as the final score. And apparently playing Michigan in Ann Arbor hasnt made much of a difference the last few years anyway.
