  1. QUOTE(103 mph screwball @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 09:11 PM) Batting 2nd ... Left Fielder.... ROSS GLOAD!!! Its not a bad idea really. Though Gload sucks in the field, he is Sean Casey with speed.
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 04:55 PM) I I'd love for them to include K-Rod and Vladdy in any deal also, but some things just aren't gonna happen. they also arent shopping K-rod and Vlad like they are Shields.
  3. I would LOVE the angels to include Scot Shields in any deal.
  4. QUOTE(knightni @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 04:34 PM) Vaz to Texas for Young, Danks.. then Uribe to 3b? Ah. Not a bad thought 1. Figgins 2. Young 3. Dye 4. Thome 5. Konerko 6. Gooch 7. AJP 8. Uribe 9. BA 1.Conteras 2. MB 3. Garland 4. Santana 5 BMAC
  5. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 04:30 PM) Would only make sense Williams trades one of the top prospects in baseball for Vazquez, yet this offseason -- when pitching is overvalued in the market -- we'd only equal value for one of our starters. Are you implying that Chris Young is one of the top prospects in all of baseball? I didnt even think he was OUR top prospect.
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 11:58 AM) Why should McGwire be held to a different standard than everyone else? Are you saying we should get every single borderline HOFer from this era to testify under oath to what they did and did not do? Fact is, we all know he juiced. All of the players that Jose ratted out were Juicers. He shouldnt be in the Hall. Cheating in baseball is just as bad as Pete Rose betting on it IMO. At least when Rose played he gave it his all honestly.
  7. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 04:20 PM) The Boys OL has been playin very, very well since Romo took over. Julius Jones and Marion Barber are having great years rushing. Marc Colombo has solidified the RT position, and Kyle Kosier's been a good acquisition at LG. From what I saw of the Bears last night, they had problems stopping the rush getting to Grossman, and if you can take away the deep ball to Berrian, they could have problems moving the football (if they can't run it). You ARE aware that NE is the second best d in the league right? Colombo is a Bears cast-off, the guy couldnt even make it as a backup for the Bears. Also the Bears have shown they can run it against anyone in the league.
  8. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 03:52 PM) OSU can really shoot 3's, which is what UNC struggles with the most defending. I fully expect OSU to go off against UNC and make it a great game at the very least. With Oden, I would say OSu would win this game, without the big presence, I would say I am confident, but they may not be ready for the tarheels.
  9. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 04:16 PM) Aurilla's got about a $3M (figure round that IIRC) deal for 2 or 3 years from the Giants waiting for him doesn't he? The Giants are waiting until after the arbitration deadline, so the Sox could conceiveably come in with a better offer if they traded Crede. Because I don't want Josh Fields as our 3B in 2007. He's not ready. Thats the thing. You are talking about someone who isnt going to make a huge contract. Has a good OBP, hits LHP well, and should be a good clubhouse guy. With that said, we would also have 2 backup 3B in Figgins and Pablo in case the injury big hits Rich again.
  10. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 04:10 PM) I agree with that, but as much trouble as Fields might have at 3rd, I don't think it'd be as big of a downgrade as Figgins would be an upgrade in left. Anyways I hope that would all be moot as I don't want Fields starting, and we'd still have a huge trading chip to upgrade 3b at that point. Heres something to put in your brain for a second. We complete this deal. We sign Rich Aurilia for the next year or two while fields gets ready for the MLB level. Now are we a better team?
  11. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 04:08 PM) I don't want Fields at all starting at 3b but just for this, say he does, then you downgrade big time at 3b defensively but you're upgrading big time defensively in left. But you are still getting rid of a GG caliber player at a crucial defensive position. Lf isnt nearly as important defensively as 3B. This rumor reeks of someone trying to drive up the demand for Freddy.
  12. Losing Crede would hurt this pitching staff and this team more than most people think. If this deal is completed then Fields starts at 3B for us next year, Figgins most likely in CF or LF and leading off. The real question is can we then flip Vaz or Mark to someone for another prospect, arm or a 3B. And is this deal better than picking up Millege from the Mets without having to give up Crede.
  13. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 03:49 PM) C'mon, Rock, he's 23 years old and has been in the majors for two years. He's been a roughly league average starter for about 340 innings while most pitchers at his age are just getting to AAA. You can't honestly tell me that, over the next couple years, you'd rather have expensive Freddy Garcia than cheap Ervin Santana. Oh, dont get me wrong, in the long run over the next several years, Santana is absolute gold. I am saying going into next year, does this improve our club. This could also be someone from the Sox leaking info to drive up the price on Freddy, or make someone like Omar get a little desperate.
  14. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 03:47 PM) We would have to get a couple more prospects/young players. Not on the Brandon Wood level, but the guy I want is Erick Aybar. Plus maybe you could get a guy like Jeff Mathis, who they are down on. Now that feels better. The only issue I would have with this trade, is that for a team that wants to put emphasis on pitching and defense, we just made the defense worse by leaps and bounds.
  15. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 03:45 PM) How can you say that? Santana and Garcia were roughly equal last year. We'd be getting four years of a relatively cheap Ervin Santana for one year of $10 million dollar-Freddy Garcia. Santana is 23 years old and would have (arguably) the best stuff of anyone on our staff. I agree with your assessment of Figgins, I think he's quite overrated and would do anything to get Crede out of this deal and still get Santana. If Garcia + Fields for Santana were possible, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Because Santana has yet to put numbers up like Freddy has. Not taking into account a plan for the future, going into next year, I fully expect them to put up similar numbers.
  16. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 03:42 PM) Problem I have is if you believe Figgens will be in LF, who's our 3B? If you believe Figgens is our 3B, you can't POSSIBLY maintain Podsednik in LF. Hopefully, if this is true, another starter is traded for a package possibly involving a 3B/SP prospects. Figgins is NOT our 3B, he is beyond brutal at that position. If you deal Joe, our starting 3B is Josh Fields.
  17. QUOTE(SnB @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 03:38 PM) i'm the biggest joe backer in the world, but this deal is pretty amazing for our side How so? Joe Crede is one of the best 3B in the game right now, Figgins is barely a starter and is a slight upgrade over PODS. Santana and Garcia could be deemed a wash. If you can turn Santana into Crawford however, then we are winners.
  18. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 02:35 PM) SI.com is reporting that the Red Sox offer to Matsuzaka is about half of Borass's request. On ESPN radio this morning, they stated that Boras may have wanted a 1 year deal.
  19. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 03:13 PM) LMAO at OSU at number one. Who exposes them first? UNC, 2 nights from now. They are a good team, but do not deserve the #1 at this moment in time.
  20. Gload is as good as Sean Casey who was knobbed constantly during the ALCS and WS.
  21. Man, I love the Bucks, but a #1 ranking is a bit premature IMO.
  22. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 01:05 PM) Lazy bastard. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=52662 I tried, I really did. Thanks Greasy. damn, it doesn't work with the new version of Firefox.
  23. damn, not compatible with the new version of firefox.
  24. QUOTE(Wedge @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 12:58 PM) And yet we had the team speed last season to beat Michigan, keep close to USC, and pretty close to OSU. Trust me, it's not just speed. Was Urlacher slow under Jauron? Why does he seem to play faster now? When were you keeping pretty close to OSU? They ran all over ND. Apparently the 14 point margin is close to you? Do you remember the scoring? 10:02 Ginn 56 yard pass 14:16 Ginn 68 yard run 02:21 Holmes 85 yard pass 1:46 Pittman 60 yard run 293 yards rushing 342 yards passing avg ypp 9.6 Their secondary, this year, does not have the speed to keep with the two good team they have played so far this year. They were overrated at the beginning of the year, and still are now.
