For the past 5 years or so I have been making 2 turkeys for thanksgiving, 1 in the oven and 1 in the fryer outside. I have found that every year the anticipation keeps building for the deep fried turkey within my family and friends. Anyone else cook their turkey this way? This year I am planning on doing a cajun rub with alot of cayenne pepper to kick it up a notch and injecting the turkey with a creole butter marinade. I have a 14 pounder for this purpose.

QUOTE(VAfan @ Nov 21, 2006 -> 10:24 AM) Last season, KW made "one trade too many." It was the Vazquez trade. He had always coveted Vazquez, and thought under Coop that we could rekindle his potential. The problem was the guy was a mental midget who consistently melted down in the 6th inning game after game after game. (Do you realize the last game he won on the year was against the Yankees when Ozzie, for the only time all year, pulled him after 5?) Now the problem is that Vazquez is overvalued b/c he's locked up longer than either Buehrle or Garcia, and with contract inflation setting in at a huge level this year, it would cost us a LOT to keep both Buehrle and Garcia beyond this year, while Vazquez will remain "cheap" for the next two seasons. Still, you have to win games on the field. And Freddy Garcia, for all his troubles, won 17 games last year. Only Garland won more. Contreras, our first half ace, won only 13 and had to be shut down. Buehrle won 12. Vazquez won 11, including no games down the stretch. (His last win was August 10th. He went 0-5 after that point.) So, the obvious choice if we want to win next year is to trade Vazquez. Unfortunately, we aren't going to get back what we gave up to get him, even if his contract is now relatively "cheap." It was looking like a valid point until you used wins as a way to evaluate a pitcher.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Nov 20, 2006 -> 03:52 PM) I really don't see how ND should be able to jump over Michigan, maybe it's just me. Especially considering they are not a good match up vs OSU, and they lost to UM. -
QUOTE(vandy125 @ Nov 20, 2006 -> 03:16 PM) Has anyone thought about the park factor? RFK vs. Wrigley. IMO, his stats will be similar to last year. I think that the non-contract year will bring his stats down, but the move to Wrigley will pull that back up. So, I see it as a wash. Anybody else think that? I see it adding more errors in the field, less assists and stolen bases. As far as the hitting goes? Less doubles perhaps, maybe the same amount of bombs. One thing is for sure, he will have less RBI's considering the cubs cannot get on base.

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Nov 20, 2006 -> 01:54 PM) Im of the opinion the game should be UM v OSU, unless another team earns the berth. Only OSU is undefeated, and of all the 1 loss teams, UM's came to the best team. I think there is a better than 50% chance of a rematch, and I think it will be one of the biggest bowl games ever. OSU beat UM, so they shouldnt get another chance. Why should OSU have to beat Michigan TWICE to win the national title. They had their shot, and they lost. -
QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 20, 2006 -> 12:21 PM) This offseason is a failure if we don't upgrade at the LF/leadoff position. Scott Podsednik is just not a good baseball player. I really want KW to get creative and somehow turn one of our sp's into Carl Crawford through aquired spects.

This trip is always brutal for the Bulls, but still they are a better team than their record. I still think the one big superstar we are looking for is already on the team in the form of Luol Deng. We need to play the ball more through him on the wing and let him create. -
If they pony up a little more cash (significantly less than Sori) for Furcal last year, they dont even need to find a lead off hitter, or a SS. Its like they are walking around in the dark with no flashlight.

Blu Ray looks too much like laser disk to me. Having a proprietary media source like that leads to doom IMO.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 20, 2006 -> 11:14 AM) I don't get it, yes it was a close game (by the scoreboard) but at no time in the game did I actually think Michigan was going to win that football game. OSU was the better football team even after making mistakes and it will be an absolute JOKE if Michigan gets a rematch. You wont get many Michigan or underdog fans to admit it, but that is a very true statement. The 3 horrible turnovers by OSU gave Mich 10 points and still I never felt like the game was that close. They got a last min TD against the prevent defense, and still it didnt feel like they ever had a chance. Its someone else's turn to see if they can beat the best team in the land. -

FLA or USC should have the most chance to make it to the BCS title game. Michigan had their chance at the title and couldnt get it done. -
They are reporting that the Cubs are now looking to bring in Cliff Floyd to play LF for them. Which will make the OF: Floyd, Soriano, Jones, and could be the worst defensive OF in the NL, maybe the MLB.
-
QUOTE(sircaffey @ Nov 20, 2006 -> 12:10 AM) This is what I'm saying...If KW trades Sweeney for Neifi Perez and Sweeney does not pan out in the future, that doesn't make it a good trade because KW could have gotten more than Neifi Perez for Sweeney. The Royals traded Jermaine Dye for Nefi Perez, which is an even worse trade.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 20, 2006 -> 12:41 AM) Alright, name 10 2nd baseman that had better offensive careers up until this stage of Soriano's career? WHo cares? He is a corner OF'er now, and as far as they go, he is not one of the best. Also he received the 5th highest contract in MLB history, I wouldnt even consider him in the top ten players in the MLB now. Alot of people for get that most of those ridiculous long term contracts that were higher than Sori's were signed by players in their 20's about to hit their prime. Soriano is neither 20 nor ready to hit his prime. Oh, and there is a reported no-trade clause in the deal as well. So so much for unloading that salary.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 19, 2006 -> 06:21 PM) I'd take him over Jeter and Helton at those prices. You have to envision helton when he signed the contract. Obviously right now you wouldnt want him.
-
Frankly Hendry just kissed top of the rotation pitchers bye bye to maybe increase his offense. Soriano had a career year and will make more money than Beltran? You gotta be kidding me. Good luck with Gil Meche as your #2 starter. Also Pie is obviously trade bait at this point as well. per ESPN If completed, Soriano's deal would be the fifth-largest total package given to a major league player, behind Alex Rodriguez ($252 million for 10 years), Derek Jeter ($189 million for 10 years), Manny Ramirez ($160 for eight years) and Todd Helton ($141.5 million for 11 years). I dont know about you guys, but I dont think Soriano is even in the same league as those guys.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 19, 2006 -> 04:03 PM) USC has the #2 spot if they win out, but if they don't, it'll probably be a rematch. I cant see a rematch happen at all. -
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Nov 19, 2006 -> 03:09 PM) Anyone else disgusted with how much Aikman and Buck slurped the Jets with time winding down in the 4th quarter? It was hilarious; as if neither could accept the Bears winning. Its a NY team. Anyone see how they reviewed the upcoming Fox games and all but one had the Giants playing in them? Hilarious.

QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 19, 2006 -> 02:50 PM) From what I've heard, that's been their plan the entire time. Putting him in CF could be a worse mistake than signing him to that contract.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Nov 19, 2006 -> 02:55 PM) looks like an abdominal injury. Or he just got the wind nocked out of him... Uh, looked to me like a testicle injury. He got cleated. Bears give up no points, no hope for Jets. 2-0 on east coast trip, tough one next week vs NE.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Nov 18, 2006 -> 10:41 PM) Hart was the best player on the field tonight. It's a shame Troy Smith will get the Heisman because Hart deserves it more IMO. Comical. Troy Smith is the best player in college football, sorry about it. OSU's defense has given up yards all year long, of course Hart was going to get 100. Michigan's defense was this fearsome unit that you cant run or pass against and OSU put up 500 yards. Smith had 240+ in the first half alone.
