QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Dec 2, 2006 -> 08:40 PM) Let Florida play OSU. I don't care if they are better than Michigan, they just need to be better than OSU. We already know Michigan isn't. ^^^^^^^^ If mich and OSU play again in the title game its either an OSU title or a split title. QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Dec 2, 2006 -> 10:40 PM) Why should Michigan get to play OSU again? They already lost. I think it would hurt the rivalry if OSU and UM play again. Bring someone else on, I would of liked to play USC though. Thats cause OSu would have smoked USC. UCLA exploited alot of their weaknesses today, and a team with any defensive speed gives them headaches. -

QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Dec 2, 2006 -> 03:28 PM) must of missed it when i was catching up in the thread.... I think OSU saw that in order to compete with the top tier teams they are going to need a strong inside presence. He needs to be ready by the time they play Florida. With some soft games before that one I see this as a great move to help integrate him into the system. I would say his presence was noticed with 5 blocks in small min. Even with one hand he is a force on both ends of the floor. -
Scott Podsednik Re-Signs with White Sox

this is seriously underpaying for a leadoff man of his caliber. Pierre cost so much more, so did Durham and Roberts. Seriously a bargain -

Any system involving the electronic transfer of information is dangerous. Credit card purchases, emails, bank transfers, even regular paper mail is dangerous, s*** walking your check to the bank was dangerous back in the day. Basically you could write this story about any of those subjects and just interchange the title

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Nov 30, 2006 -> 04:36 PM) I think the bigger thing is that he's never had a GREAT team around him. The offenses have been awesome, but their defense has always been only decent at best, and frankly I've never been overly impressed by their offensive line either. So far it looks like Manning is going to be this generation's Dan Marino, great stats, no rings. I was just messing around anyway, but year I can see that comparison. -
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 30, 2006 -> 04:20 PM) Have a hunch this is going to "just miss us" only getting a few inches at the most.I agree, it looks like it may be glancing off to the south.

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Nov 30, 2006 -> 04:30 PM) Though I do agree with a lot of that, it sounds an awful lot like what people said about Peyton Manning at Tennessee. He never beat Florida, IIRC his only bowl win came over Northwestern in the Citrus Bowl (and I know they got torched by Nebraska his senior year), and played in a conference that at the time didn't play any defense. And now he cant ever win the important Playoff games, correlation? -
QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Nov 30, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) Does anyone even drive in Oxford? I went to a Wendys there and they didnt have a drive thru...but they had a walk thru. I hope it snows and snows and snows, doesnt matter to me I love the s***. the funny thing is, I think something like 85 percent of kids have cars there. The Wendy's (which is gone I think) is uptown where people walk place to place, the Kroeger, Wal-mart Taco bell etc are all driving distance.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Nov 30, 2006 -> 12:28 PM) Golden Eye and Mario Kart are still popular here in the dorms. As well as Super Smash Bros and Wayne Gretzky hockey. Classic system. You cant go wrong with Kart, such a classic game. Another good game along those lines is a game made for dreamcast (i know, i know) that I used to play in college called powerstone 2, it was honestly one of the most entertaining games ever (especially with some herbal assistance)

I went to school in southern ohio. When it snowed, much like Memphis, the whole city, all the roads leading into the city and all surrounding towns shut down. They litterally had no snow plows that could handle 3 inches of snow. The funny thing is that the city of Oxford has heated sidewalks, so we could walk whereever we wanted, but not drive. It reminded me of around 1998 when we got dumped with 2 feet of snow out here in Chi. All through the night, just dumping feet of snow onto the streets. My town was so adapt at snow removal that by the time school came in the morning, all the major streets had been plowed and salted. it was amazing work.

Something to think about with Stewart: The turf he has been playing on is not good for anyone with injuries, especially foot injuries. Playing on a more forgiving field like ours actually reduces the injury risk IMO.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Nov 30, 2006 -> 01:34 PM) Is it wrong to want to see what this kid can do before putting up on a pedestal as the greatest player in the world? No, its not wrong. But its also wrong to hate on him before he plays as well. It sucks when a player gets tons of hype, especially when he plays for a really good team, and that team happens to be from a University that people are already hating from their football run this year. But, he is a great player, and a good guy, and im sure that will all come out come the end of Dec. -

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Nov 30, 2006 -> 12:56 PM) Yea, was he impressive last night or what? Boston College finally came out playing like I thought they could all along. When you lose your two captains, it certainly will take a few games, I just wish they hadn't been embarrassed in the Vermont and Providence games. Oh well, Go Eagles! He has the goods thats for sure. -

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Nov 30, 2006 -> 12:40 PM) Well, I'll be watching then. At least whenever Dudley isn't dominating..... Red- Here is a nice highlight reel, something to note. The sweet PG, Lawson for UNC (who is felton part 2) and Oden were on the same Mcd's all american team. In this clip, the first play is Oden blocking a shot to lawson, and Lawson just runs around everyone. Oden also swats Durant pretty good. http://youtube.com/watch?v=tCYVQlg2NUQ -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 30, 2006 -> 12:43 PM) Yeah, but I for one think that just because of the type of pitches Haeger throws, he's guaranteed to be undervalued until he proves himself repeatedly in the big leagues. Teams know how to evaluate a guy who throws 170 innings with a 14-6 record and a 3.07 ERA in a hitter's park at AAA if the guy is throwing 97. But if the guy's throwing a knuckler, he automatically drops down about a dozen levels in value in any trade. I for one think that Haeger is actually an ideal guy to hang onto, because until he proves himself over a couple full seasons in the big leagues, he won't have trade-value to match the numbers he puts up. Agreed. In fact, I am one person who is skeptical. I have seen how well his knuckler dances, but there is also a reason why there arent more knuckleball guys out there-its an extremely difficult pitch to repeat over and over during the course of a season. I hope the best for Chuck, and I think he could be a serious value to us at a certain point in time.

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Nov 30, 2006 -> 12:31 PM) I live somewhere warm, and let me tell you, you need to decide if you are a cold weather or warm weather person before you move. I'm a cold weather person and the weeks of upper-90's lower-100's we get in Austin in the summer SUCK!!! It's 36 degrees today and I'm in heaven, but native Texans are up in arms. Spring and Fall are awesome here, but summer sucks. Plus, you don't get any seasons here...it's hot, then it's not so hot. As I have said before, i travel a ton for work, and it just so happens I travel the west coast, southwest and texas most of the time, and I know that I am a warm weather person. I have spent significant time in Phoenix in the middle of summer, and I know for a fact that I can deal with that better than Chicago Nov-March

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Nov 30, 2006 -> 12:22 PM) I'm not saying you're right or wrong, Rock, but how can you honestly say that Oden is atleast a twenty point differential? I saw him and Scheyer play last year against eachother and while it was clear who the more dominating player was, Scheyer at half his size was just as talented, and it's not like he's coming in right away and propelling Duke to glory. The Oden hype needs to stop, he isn't the best basketball player in any gym, atleast until he goes on the court and shows that he is. Well, im just saying that because of the way the UNC finally was able to score points and take the lead. They decided to start taking it into the paint and because of the lack of height and paint players of OSU, UNC was able to dominate that area. Oden is a dominant defensive player in the paint, and I would expect that the rebounding as well as the scoring on UNC's end in the OSU paint would take about a 10 point hit. And consequently on the offensive end, I would pencil him in for several boards and about 10 unrealized points for OSU. Im all about making him show everyone how good he is, infact the big ten will see it first hand starting in Jan, but im not the only one who is saying that he is a dominant player. There are many more knowledgable people than you and me that are saying he is already a great player, and seeing him myself, I agree. -
This is why i hate chicago. In the summer, its the best city in the world, in the winter, its bottom 25. Im about ready to move somewhere warm

Per Buster Olney: 1. Ray Durham Had a really strong season at the plate in 2006 (26 homers, 93 RBI, .898 OPS) while hitting in the Giants' spacious park. He's 34, he's played the outfield, and you don't have to pay him Alfonso Soriano money or J.D. Drew money. A potential bargain for a two- or three-year deal. A perfect fit for the Orioles, perhaps, as their left fielder, especially since Baltimore has already given up its draft pick in the second round (for the signing of Chad Bradford). If the O's sign Durham, he costs them, in effect, only a pick after the second round. A thought completely out of the box: Durham, with his 1.063 OPS against left-handed pitchers, could be a sleeper solution for the Yankees at first base.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 30, 2006 -> 12:09 AM) And Perfect Dark, the sequel to Goldeneye. 2 of the best games ever made. That and mario kart entertained me for years.

According to Neyer, teams like the Royals and Drays would be interested in Haeger simply because of the low cost, and the possibility of longevitiy for their franchise.
