QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ May 31, 2006 -> 04:56 PM) i'm making a list of all the games he has won for the Sox with his glove this season. It's a short list. None. Can you then make a list of all the games he has lost with his bat. Short list.

QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ May 31, 2006 -> 04:48 PM) please. Anderson is hitting .164 with 2 doubles as we turn the calendar to June. He's unlikely to smell .200, much less .225 by September. he needs to take the next flight to Charlotte. what makes you think that? Are you psychic?

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 31, 2006 -> 03:53 PM) Dang. Wanted BA to get a chance against a crappy right-handed pitcher. Especially since he is better against RHP.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 31, 2006 -> 04:03 PM) Chris Young has also had much more success in the minor leagues than Borchard ever had and just because one prospect never panned out doesn't mean he won't. Im not saying he wont. Just that being called the next something, doesnt mean much.

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ May 31, 2006 -> 03:58 PM) Well, I'd agree it shouldn't be in "Pale Hose Talk", but he was a Sox as recent as this offseason, and he was involved in a critical trade. Furthermore, he's been called "a better version of Mike Cameron", i.e. a .900 OPS guy in CF with all-league range. That's a hell of a player, and I hope Vasquez makes this deal worth it. What was Joe Borchard called?

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 31, 2006 -> 03:48 PM) Because this thread isn't about Paulie or Dye! Its really not even about Uribe, someone just brought it up. And it's more of the fact that Uribe and BA have struggled tons more than Paulie or Dye have this year. They have been our rocks in the lineup, along with Thome. When Uribe and BA start to play better, they won't get as much b****ing. But the point of your posts is last nights situations. And frankly, BA and Uribe didnt f*** up as much as these rocks that you speak about. We are going to lose games, you all need to get over it. Dye struggled just like this last year, and everyone wanted him gone, does that look like a good opinion at this point? Didnt think so.
-
QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 31, 2006 -> 03:45 PM) Yes, I put a lot of it on Paulie's struggles lately as well, but you asked me about Uribe and Anderson, not Paulie or Dye. Then why arent you b****ing about them? They performed worse when the game was on the line last night. The loss had nothing to do with Anderson and Uribe. It was a good game, we can win tonight.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 31, 2006 -> 03:43 PM) If this was directed at me, no, not unless it is there fault. I think it was terrible that we had two on with one out, and Uribe and Anderson both got out yesterday. Don't remember how Uribe did, but BA struck out. I don't say its completely there fault, but thats a golden situation. What about Paulie's situation? Or Dye's. They both left more men on base than Anderson.

I think one of the things that Ozzie should do to help Brian is not sit him against RHP. IN his major league career, he has been much more effective vs RHP. Also, his numbers have been improving throughout the season, so yes he has been making strides. After every loss, no matter whose fault it is, are you still going to blame Uribe and Anderson? QUOTE(JenksForPrez45 @ May 31, 2006 -> 03:39 PM) So the Pods in CF and Owens in left idea would be stupid? just wondering Owens blows in AAA. Why would that warrant a call up?
-
wow. A prospect that we traded away shoudl start for the sox. Anderson only strikes out and should be demoted Uribe never tries. congrats people.
-
If Dye is not an all star, its a crime. Sheffield, Matsui and Crisp cant handle his jock this year.
-
Im still astonished that Dave Wilder's name hasnt come up.

I would wait until Jim gives you some tips. Being that I lived there I have no idea what hotels to stay in. JimH should know exactly where to stay.

Its Time For The Josh Fields Era To Begin...........

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2006 -> 11:51 AM) Not to mention Konerko could have tagged out a baserunner before Perraltas HR and missed. He looked a little sluggish last night. Missed a couple of good pitches to hit etc. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 31, 2006 -> 11:43 AM) For Politte to end the season around his career numbers, he'd have to give up 10 runs the rest of the year and pitch over 30 innings. That works out to an ERA of about 3 for the rest of the year. Im sure he will be around his career numbers. Also, Thornton doesnt need to just be a LOOGY. He can basically pitch to RH and LH batters. If Polite is struggling, its obvious Ozzie has the confidence in Matt to put him out there against anyone. -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 31, 2006 -> 11:36 AM) The pen was fine last night, people want to get rid of Anderson because there has already been talk of him going down for a few days now, which does not appear to be true and he is currently being platooned in centerfield. He had another bad offensive night yesterday and the team lost so everyone freaks out. I doubt many people will deny that the bullpen is weak right now, Thornton was god like last night but the rest of the bullpen is nowhere near where he is right now. Well look at Polite's numbers, im sure he will end the season around his career avg. BMAC is serviceable as a righty, and Jenks is lights out. Thornton is better than Marte was, Cotts will regress a bit, which is expected, and Nelson is old, but still needs some work to reach what he could do. Im not really that worried about the pen. QUOTE(fathom @ May 31, 2006 -> 11:37 AM) A lot of people have pointed to Iguchi's failed bunt attempt as a big turning point in the game. We're giving up a lot of outs on bunt attempts this season without successfully advancing the runners. Thats baseball though. Sometimes you get the breaks, sometimes you dont. He had a bad game, so did Konerko. Plus that was the best I have seen us against CC in quite some time. -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 31, 2006 -> 11:25 AM) Anyone who has watched Clifford, Cotts, McCarthy and the rest at times this year should know that we have some problems in the pen. Cliff is never going to match what he did last year and Cotts more than likely won't this year either, that's a problem. Cliff was big for this team last year and so far this season he has been just horrid, he looks like he has zero confidence right now. What did the pen do last night to make everyone want to get rid of Anderson and bring up a rookie who has never played the OF. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 31, 2006 -> 11:24 AM) Problem is...at the current rate, 40-50 of those losses are going to be due to bad fundamental baseball. Not hitting the ball isnt exactly bad fundamentals. If those guys would have connected on their swings in the 9th, we would have been saying it was the best fundamentally sound game all year. s***, Cintron taking 2nd base was about as good as it gets after a failed attempt at moving the runner over. -

QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ May 31, 2006 -> 11:18 AM) Our problems have nothing to do with the absense of Aaron Rowand. What are these problems you speak of? Does everyone understand that we are going to lose over 60 games this year most likely? -
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 31, 2006 -> 09:59 AM) I would think getting at bats everyday and having a chance to hit over .300 wouldn't be a bad idea. Playing 2 or 3 times a week and hitting .160 with everyone eyeing you isn't helping. Then we should let him bat everyday. if he cant work it out at the major league level, then he never will. I have confidence in him, and I would rather risk a liability in the lineup than have one in CF.
-
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 31, 2006 -> 09:38 AM) No but he had another bad offensive night. If some of our other hitters have a bad night you know they will bounce back soon if not the next day. That's not the case with Brian. I really would like to see him succeed but I think it might be best for him to do a 2 week stint in Charlotte to get his confidence up. Also, while he is still up I'd like to see him get more opportunities against lousy right-handed pitchers like Westbrook. Ozzie pretty much uses Brian against lefties now and he has struggled against them...like most of the team. Get his confidence back up huh? Yeah, nothing like a demotion to make someone gain confidence......

QUOTE(fathom @ May 31, 2006 -> 09:17 AM) How about Lew Ford? He's struggled a bit this year, but we all know he's a tough out and a very good defensive player. The Twins don't have much need for him now, as they're playing Kubel in the outfield, and Stewart will be off the DL soon. Lew Ford for what? -
QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ May 30, 2006 -> 08:55 PM) Another day, another set of s***ty AB's for BA. When will it end? Oh, the carnage, the runners LOB..... He left 2 on base. Iguchi Left 3 Konerko left 4 Dye left 2 was it really his fault?

QUOTE(thomsonmi @ May 31, 2006 -> 09:07 AM) Ok, let's put this one to rest. BA is staying put for awhile. Mackoviak will get more playing time than planned on but BA is staying put. There are no immediate minor league answers. Fields will be lucky to make the roster in 2007 let alone this season. Sweeney too. We have the second best record in baseball. Everyone breathe. ^^^^^^^^^^^ but im sure the xbox trades will still keep flowing in.
