QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 2, 2012 -> 11:10 AM) All I can say about NCAA vs NBA or any pro league... I like to watch sports because I like to see the very best in the world at their craft do work. The NCAA has a very limited interest to me because the talent can't touch the NBA, save 1 or 2 players in a given game. The main novelty of the NCAA is to see who might become good enough for the better league, and occasionally something to keep you occupied when nothing else is going on. It gives people with no more pro markets nearby something to watch. In the end though, I want to see the best in the world at play. If you have no dog in the fight, maybe thats the case. For those of us that have programs we follow and are actually competitive, College bball and football are awesome.

QUOTE (Boogua @ Nov 2, 2012 -> 03:29 PM) Teams that the Illini have lost by more than 27.5 points to this year: La Tech, Michigan, Arizona State, and Penn State. The Illini might cover because Vegas is ridiculous, but I can't find a reason why to bet on the Illini. This will probably be the worst team tOSU plays this year. No, UAB is the worst, and ILL plays OSU tough especially in Columbus. 7 of the last 11 there. I'm telling you it will be close. -

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 2, 2012 -> 02:38 PM) Rock, run for your life. http://www.elevenwarriors.com/2012/11/1579...ven+Warriors%29 Second oldest trophy in the conference. I am still putting cash on the Illini, there is no way OSU covers, zero. -
The card was something I wouldnt do but not out of line. I am more in line with sending a bottle of booze or something of the sort, but it pays to be thankful throughout life anyway. Too often people take advantage of people who are nice and it was cool you showed appreciation.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 1, 2012 -> 10:02 PM) Yeah, I can get 8 GB off Amazon for like $100-115. I am just wondering if you guys think it will really make much of a difference in my video editting or not. Being a college kid, being able to afford it means asking for it for Xmas. There has to be an app you can download that will diagnose if its the memory. I use istat but im sure thats just mac. Memory gets eaten up by alot of stuff like webpages and video, so my first inclination is that you'll see a large improvement regardless.

What has surprised me most about OSU this early in the season is that they are trying to be a fast break team again, its been awhile. Also Ross made the start and it looks like he is possibly gunning for the second leading scorer position on the wing. Matta intentionally didnt run any guard play against Walsh so it sucked watching Smith and Craft do nothing all game. -

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 1, 2012 -> 08:28 PM) The problem is that it's not exactly an opinion based in facts, to this point. The fact is that with his numbers and what his team has done, he's either leading the voting, or is right in the very top of the pecking order. Hell even Miller is up there. Would love to know what your list looks like. Miller for me is a favorite next year. This year its way too early. He does have 2500 total yards and 24 td's already which is unreal. I also dont like to put out lists or favorites until about 10 games are in the books and frankly I think its weak this year overall. I DO like Barner, Lee, Smith, Klein (production wise) and Manziel (eventually will be a legit candidate). I think Lee is probably one of the most NFL ready playmakers in all of CFB. The domers wont like this but having Te'O on the list is a joke. His production is not heisman-worthy at all. DeAnthony Thomas should be up there but for some reason Kelly never gives him the ball. If USC wasnt a choke-artist I think Lee would be even higher. He's dynamic. Smith's team's shortcomings and a bad game is hurting him, but you cant ignore his production. For me he's head and shoulders the best QB in the country. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 1, 2012 -> 05:33 PM) How is Klein not worthy of Heisman consideration? He's 2nd in the nation in passer rating & rushing touchdowns. His team is 5th in the country in scoring and undefeated in a major conference. How is that not Heisman worthy? It's not about talent or NFL chances, it's about producing on the field and I don't know how you argue with that. Because I think he's about as good as Braxton Miller and I dont consider either one of them the best player in college football. Its my opinion, you dont need to try and change it. -

How about BTN trying to charge us to watch these early games? LOL. -
QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 1, 2012 -> 04:52 PM) The handling of Brian Anderson continues to frustrate, all because of Rob Mackowiak Part of Anderson's problem is that he cant hit major league pitching.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 1, 2012 -> 05:03 PM) It's what, like 28? I still wouldn't touch it. I think it's all about how many points Urban wants to put up. Anything over 40 and OSU probably covers. ILL just has this effect on OSU where its always close and surprising. OSU also blows against "spread-like" offensive teams. If the Bucks can run the ball with ease then it will be a blowout but I still think they wont cover. I personally think it will be a close game. -

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 1, 2012 -> 04:28 PM) A game won by a FG as time expired wasn't good enough? Make it seem like the Auburn dominated that game. As far as stymied, they did a good job against the run, but Oregon threw all over on them. They did have 449 total yards. If Oregon goes through the rest of the schedule undefeated, I see no way they shouldn't play Bama in the championship game. As far as Klein, he's not your prototypical pocket passer and won't be an NFL star, but the guy gets the job done and that offense scores a lot of points. I don't see how anyone could not be impressed at this point. Oregon has probably 2 of the most dangerous players in the country with the ball in their hands. Their D isnt great, but it doesnt need to be in theory. Also Krush, im laying hard on ILL this weekend. You've taken 7 out of the last 11 in columbus, the spread is ridiculous. -
QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Nov 1, 2012 -> 03:59 PM) If it makes you feel better, I will call you 'off-base' right now. Too inauthentic now. The PM's are still there which is good. Fishing right now on the other FA's.

I wish I saved the posts that thought that I was way off base when I said my sources told me Jake was going to come back.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 1, 2012 -> 02:28 PM) Good point. That gives me hope a team like the Royals might wise up and give Ozzie a chance. IMO he would do wonders with young players. Why do you keep saying that? Young players need someone who leads and does so by example. Ozzie does neither. He's a terrible fit for a team full of young players. The guy can't even handle his own children.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Nov 1, 2012 -> 03:12 PM) Some people feel the same way about watching teams pass the ball around for 30 seconds until some white guy jacks up a 3. As I'm sure you know, there's a college basketball thread if you'd rather go there. This will be my last post on the subject since I have a bad feeling this may turn into another 3-page b****-fest that kills the thread. Why is college only white players? Seems kinda racist. Is Wisconsin the only team on TV?

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 1, 2012 -> 02:27 PM) I don't know how you can't be sold on Kstate after they went TO west virginia and absolutely manhandled that offense. I'm not sold on WV either. I dont think the Big 12 is very good, which I think we saw with Oklahoma last weekend. I don't think Klein is worthy of Heisman consideration and I think that Oregon has more playmakers especially on offense. ND's defense IMO can stack up against Bama, although that game would be boring as f***. -
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 1, 2012 -> 02:34 PM) Taj is a sixth man. I worry about his offense as a starter. If it's closer to $30 it's better than $40. Just because he'd get overpaid doesn't mean he's worth it. He's not being overpaid with the extension, he's underpaid per market value. He can defend 4 positions well and is an offensive contributor. It's a good deal for the Bulls and they stuck to their guns during negotiation.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 1, 2012 -> 01:53 PM) You guys are paying nearly $100 for 4 GB of RAM? DDR3 will cost you around $25 for 4 GB, even for SODIMM. DDR2...well that's another story. I'm assuming Joe's laptop uses DDR2. If that's the case, it'll cost you a little more, but not $150. This is a common frequency for most laptop DDR2 RAM: http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-CT51264AC800...+GB+SODIMM+DDR2 No, thats what I was telling him. I paid very little for brand name RAM for my mac when CDW, Newegg and the crucial website wanted to charge me more than 100.
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 1, 2012 -> 01:32 PM) Newegg. I didn't start looking around yet because I didn't know if I should pursue it or not. Amazon probably has it cheaper. Take the part number and put it in Amazon's search. I found my imac memory at about half of what it was on the other sites. Under 100 for 4 gigs.
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 1, 2012 -> 01:25 PM) Well, I have 4 GB of RAM, and my computer can hold up to 8 GB (2 x 4GB sticks). I'm just not sure if I want to spend the $150 to upgrade my RAM if I am not sure if it's going to change a whole lot. I just want to be able to continue editting videos on this baby, since I do so much video editing in my major. Its 150 on amazon?
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 1, 2012 -> 11:33 AM) Your laptop is outdated. It's probably not the RAM if it worked fine before. Try a defrag. I was going to say install something that would tell if he's maxing out his RAM. I had a problem with videos and it turned out it was a function of my video player.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 1, 2012 -> 08:13 AM) Yeah I have owned Dells for over 10 years now, and had zero hardware problems. Let be honest too, its not Dell that has the issues. They are rebranding 3rd party hardware for the most part, so a bunch of faulty hitachi drives isnt really a "Dell" issue. Some people get terrible Macs and I've never had an issue. Computers are meant to break and arent meant for long term use. For my money if I had to buy myself a laptop I would 100% buy a Macbook air, probably the same one I have for work. Its just flat out awesome.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 31, 2012 -> 10:38 PM) That is a bad, bad contract. Less than market value, not understanding your post.
