QUOTE (Baron @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 10:57 AM) Yeah he plays the..." Well even though Ozzie did this...Kenny did this which is worse" card Wow, sounds REALLY familiar, almost too familiar. The best part is Ozzie saying he doesnt care about winning, but only about money. Yes now THATS a guy I want managing a team.

Greg, your post may be absolutely terrible, but at least we know you are still alive and didnt slit your wrists. Change is coming, finally.

QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 10:03 PM) Mitch Williams just said some Cubs fans would flip to White Sox fans if the Sox hired Ryne Sandberg. GMAFB. I'd think Ryno would be in the running however.

Is Groupon falling apart? anyone think it will survive?

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 07:02 PM) I thought it was common knowledge that was how Groupon counted revenue. I've known for a long time. Its been whispered for awhile. Does anyone work there? I just had a presentation over there for software that would help track some of their revenue and people were exchanging looks the whole time. -
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 04:06 PM) I ended up with a Vizio 55 inch LED ...the "LED of the year" according to CNET in 2010. Zero complaints. I thought it was a cheap brand, but it seems to be made of quality parts (not too plastic-y) and it's got an outstanding picture. I believe they are now the most popular flat screen manufacturer or something like that. I wanst buying into Vizio at first but they get pretty good reviews.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 06:22 PM) Hard to be impressed by USC who beat Minnesota by 2. Gotta love early season college football. You can go back and forth about who has looked good or bad based on the transitive property. I can tell you Robert Griffin looked good, other than that, no idea. -

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 04:05 PM) Yes, the ref's were totally cheating. It had nothing to do with Cutler throwing multiple pics or The Bears forgeting to cover Finley the whole game. Duh, I knew someone would agree. -

QUOTE (danman31 @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 06:04 PM) I think you took him a bit too literally. Of course 11-1 gets a BCS bowl, but after beating Western Michigan by 3 it's hard to expect 11-1. Beating Wisconsin probably lets Illinois go 10-2 and have a shot at a BCS game. Illinois has its toughest game to date up next. Northwestern coming off a loss and a bye with Persa back is tougher than Arizona State coming off a relatively big win. Who knows if they are, ASU just smashed USC. And we have yet to see Wisconsin play a team as good as ASU or Western michigan. -
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 03:03 PM) 100% agreed, Amazon is really the way to go. In regards to brands, Insignia and Dynex are both house brands for Best Buy, they tend to look decent for a year, then they start to have issues quickly. I would check out these two (I have a Toshiba that I love): LG Toshiba (reviews say the sound is bad, which I have no problem with because I always use different speakers anyways). I'm a Samsung guy and have had great luck with several of their sets including both LCD's and Plasma's. I would say Panny, Sammy, Toshiba, LG's, Sonys have been the ones I have been exposed to the most, but I have a friend who swears by Vizio. All are on Amazon for the price range (500-600) that he was looking for.

Buy a TV from Amazon. No Tax and free delivery and disposal of the boxes and such. You'll save alot of money. Just looked in your price range on Amazon. You can get a better brand than that for roughly the same price but saving 50+ dollars because of tax.

So i just saw on Twitter than the player rep for the Bears press conference was Sanzenbacher. Way to put an undrafted free agent out there in front of the press after losing to the Packers Lovie. -

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 11:29 AM) I don't think Morel is a guy who we should give credit OR fault to Walker for, since he's doing basically what he did at each level before now. Nothing is different, really. The change is surprising in it's extremity, but it was still somewhat predictable. Ding ding ding. This post has been repeated over and over yet is still being ignored. This is what Morel has shown that he does. -

There was also a PI on Knox late in the game too. It was pretty obvious that the refs werent going to let the Bears come back in that game, at least not close enough so they wouldnt cover. Super sketchy. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 12:04 AM) Well, I know no one gives a s***, but plays for tomorrow: Pats/Bills over 54 (this seems like a trap to me, but I succumbed anyway) Saints/Texans over 52 (Texans have the better defense, which is not going to stop Drew Brees, and Houston should put up 24-28 pretty easily I think) Chiefs +14.5 (teams that have been blown out twice in a row have a really solid record of playing fairly well in the third game) Cardinals -3 (I don't care where the game is being played, the TJ is freaking horrendous) Ravens -5 (the Ravens are 10-2 ats coming off a loss under Harbaugh, I believe) Good luck to all you bettors out there... I need to get an account with you...... -

Illinois may have gotten "Zooked" today and may again, but look what ASU is doing to USC. The Illini are lined up perfectly, with other team rebuilding, to make a BCS bowl this year. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 23, 2011 -> 05:26 PM) lol, it is not ok to talk about hitting a guy and attempting to injure him. it is only ok to do it, and get paid for it, because that is your job. but please, do not talk about it. Well, hitting a guy in the ribs really isnt dirty, so I dont see the error there. If he was going to take out a knee or something it would make sense that the comment was out of bounds. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 23, 2011 -> 08:55 AM) Do I expect Illinois to win a Big Ten title under Zook? No. But I would never say it's unimaginable. With the right combo of talent and scheduling, they have shown they can grab a title or two occasionally. They have a sophomore QB who has already shown tons of ability too. In the last 4 seasons, they are 15-17 in conference. Ron Turner turned the program into a joke and its been a long battle back out of that mess. IMO if they can beat Wisconsin they win the Big Ten this season. -

QUOTE (farmteam @ Sep 23, 2011 -> 12:55 AM) This seems like grasping at straws. A big part of the "bottom feeder" thing is perception -- which is heavily influenced by the last 9 years of performance (or lackthereof). I mean, is Illinois a "bottom feeder" in the same way IU or Minnesota (and really, putting Minnesota in our company is a bit disingenuous to them, ha!) is? No; but they're nowhere near the top (Not even in the top half, as Michigan, Ohio St., Nebraska, Iowa, Penn St., and Wisconsin are definitely ahead of them). Nebraska hasnt won a conference title since 1999, Illinois last won the Big Ten in 2001. Nebraska hasnt been to a BCS bowl since 2002, Illinois went in 2008. They are exactly the type of team that has shown over time has the ability to win a conference title and go to a big bowl game every so often. -

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 22, 2011 -> 11:39 PM) We're not a bottom feeder right now - we're talking about current/future state of the program, per your original post. Last 9 years not exactly relevant to that. IMO in every conference pre-bulls***, there are 2-4 teams that can make runs at conference titles every few years when the talent aligns. They are hindered by either facilities, coaching or talent pool. The whole "Super Conference" thing hurts these schools IMO and I think its horrible for the fan bases because it probably decreases their chances at attending BCS bowl games or even top tier bowl games outside of the BCS. I think they are moving towards 4 "Supers" and hopefully there will be some sort of a playoff between those teams, however you cannot ignore that it will hurt some programs. I could be wrong at every team could eventually have multiple losses which will make the playing field more even, but if this perceived recruiting advantage exists for teams joining larger conferences, I would think it also helps consolidate the talent within the top tier schools in those new conferences even more than it is today. -

QUOTE (danman31 @ Sep 22, 2011 -> 02:10 PM) My point is that a middle of the road or even perennial top 25 program that doesn't break into the top 10 every year is unlikely to go to a BCS bowl anyway. What does moving to a super conference do to change that? I dont know if I agree with that. This is just an example (so easy fellas) if Illinois or Iowa moved from the big ten (12) to the SEC, do they 1. Ever win a conference title 2. Make a BCS bowl? -

QUOTE (danman31 @ Sep 22, 2011 -> 12:09 PM) As long as OU and Texas are in the Big 12 it's unlikely Missouri wins that anyway. If they leave, it's not clear the Big 12 is a BCS conference. Basically, any league that Missouri would be favored in more than once in a blue moon is in danger of losing its AQ status. My post wasnt specifically about them. Either way, the odds are much better outside of the SEC. I would think most schools goals would be to make a BCS bowl and make more money. I just dont get why the middle of the road teams are so in favor of super conferences.
