Official 2010-2011 NCAA Basketball Thread

QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 13, 2010 -> 07:04 PM) That is what people said in the 90's when Michigan and Arkansas started it. They still had baggy tops back then, nothing like the tight Nike ones now. However UM started the black sock look in College bball, and people hated on that pretty hard. -

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 12, 2010 -> 06:52 PM) That has to be one of the best college football staffs of all-time. 5 current head coaches: Saban, Fisher, Dooley, Muschamp, Shane Montgomery (Miami-Ohio). Shane Montgomery single handedly took Miami's program and threw it into the toilet only to be finally fixed with his firing. -
Multiple Sources: Sox actively shopping Quentin

Wanna know who is on their way out? Look at a position that is signed for 3 years and more. Those players are being shopped. Hard. -

Still talking about shopping Q? Come on. It doesnt take a genius to know they would listen, but not shop their starting RF who is signed under market price. -

QUOTE (zenryan @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 05:28 PM) Well his name was thrown around a few years ago after Carr retired. How long do OSU fans think Tressel will stay coaching? 4-5 years. 2019 at the longest. -

OSU just sleep walked through a game because Sullinger dropped 40 and 13. Another freshman of the week award coming for the Buckeyes. -
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 04:34 PM) We might as well throw Jordan in too. Make it kind of a double family affair thing. Then we'd have to get BJ from Tampa, because i'm getting all sentimental in this holiday season. How about Danks and Beckham as a starting point?

QUOTE (zenryan @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 05:44 PM) lol, that would be funny. I wouldnt be surprised to see Urb up in Ann Arbor in a year or two... Come on, you think an Ohio man would go to UM???? Well, except Bo of course... OSU fans actually think Urban will take over when the Vest retires. -

Wow DJK, for once I am glad that you couldnt make grades to enroll at OSU. Facing 7 years in jail? Holy hell. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 04:03 PM) That's not true. Nobody wants to give it up. I'd package Johnny Danks + all of our prospects for Upton in a heartbeat.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 03:23 PM) Please tell me this is a cryptic message. There would be a posting s***storm if I said something like that without concrete evidence.
-
Man I wish we had enough in the stable to get Justin Upton.

As much as we hate each other's opinions at times, I think most are respected on here. Thats whats refreshing about this site.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 02:50 PM) Stop saying that. Joe Cowley didn't find out about Dunn from f***ing Soxtalk. If you dont think he trolls this site for information including the signing of Dunn and Konerko you are very naive.

Official Recruiting Thread II

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 03:11 PM) Dee Hart didn't publicly decommit and commit to Alabama, but he's made it pretty clear that if Rodriguez is fired, he'll play elsewhere. Fortunately, the timeline is workable w/ Michigan likely playing in the Gator Bowl on Jan 1. As long as the decision is made before the US Army AA Game, he can enroll at Michigan the following week. The situation is tenuous at best and I'm sure a plan B will be ready. He may yet get tired of waiting and go ahead and pull the trigger to Bama (or someone else). Apparently, Bama turned up the heat when Isaiah Crowell named Georgia as his leader. Ultimately, I think Michigan has a chance at the US Army game, but its certainly not a comfortable situation for anyone. I just saw they lost Kevin Sousa too. Is this because of uncertainty around RichRod? -
There has been more information reported accurately on this board than he has done this offseason. He broke the Dunn story with direct information taken from this site and other writers.

And sorry for blowing up this thread earlier, I never said anything was happening immediately, just reporting what I heard.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 02:04 PM) OBP has proven to be the best and most effective way to score runs. Give me a guy with Konerko's speed that can get on base at a .390+ clip over JP and his peak .340 clip. Juan Pierre is not a good baseball player. I believed this in 2006 when he was with the Cubs and I mocked all their fans. And I still believe this. I'll, of course, cheer for JP because he plays LF for my favorite team. But I will not mask my true feelings. I dont like him much either, but every SB adds to his XBH total IMO. And there isnt really a statistic kept that can show the value of moving from 1st to 3rd or scoring on a single from second. OBP is great and all, but I would HATE having a lineup full of slow guys that cannot take an extra base.

Posting from my phone. Could be a rumor but I hear the Sox are deep in talks that involve some of our top prospects for pitching. Maybe we are also trading someone from our rotation?
-
Konerko's injury is different. He actually takes frequent cortisone shots in his hand throughout the season. Its chronic.
-
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 08:19 PM) Didnt Konerko go through something similar? Konerko has a chronic thumb injury, its never going to go away. Lee's was a torn ligament that bothered him all season.
-
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 08:16 PM) But off season thumb surgery could change all that. So having surgery to fix a problem that bothered him all year is going to make him worse?
-
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 08:13 PM) Doesn't have to be a big commitment to LaRoche but we're better off with him in case Viciedo never reaches his promise. I also can't see why you would consider Lee a better player now coming off thumb surgery his age and his back. Sure he WAS a better player than Adam LaRoche might ever be but LaRoche is a safer bet to stay healthy and play a full season and for 25 HR and 100 RBI's considering the negatives weighing against Lee. Why is he the safer bet? DLEE has played under 140 games only twice in his career. Even with Lee's s***ty 2 months last year he was as good as LaRoche. And if he was so hurt last year, why did he have such a stellar second half?
