QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Dec 23, 2010 -> 10:30 PM) I dont understand how it is illegal to sell awards you have won. It's the players property they should be able to do with it what they please.... Let's be honest, its not that they sold the items, its that it was something you could track back to the player. Over 100 players in each bowl game are getting care packages like an XBOX360, how many of those do you think are going to be sold for cash? The items they sold were clearly tracked back to them which made the NCAA have to do something. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 23, 2010 -> 06:58 PM) The Big Ten has added a 3rd division to the mix. They had Leaders & Legends, and will now add an Entrepreneurs division. Ohio State is the only present member. Technically you are correct, they have been in a league of their own for the past 6 years. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 23, 2010 -> 04:21 PM) The problem though is that there's plenty of reason to think that the program ought to be at fault...they basically came out and said that they hadn't educated their players well enough on the rules through 2009. Thats not something that requires sanctions though. And from what I understand they began a very high regulated educational program right after the incidents occurred. -

QUOTE (kev211 @ Dec 23, 2010 -> 04:03 PM) Same thing still applies, how is that worse then what Cam or Cam's dad did. It's not, but its against the rules. The important thing is that the program is not at fault. OSU can reload with players, its program sanction that cripple a school. We'll probably see a reduction in games on the suspension and most of those guys will go pro anyway. -

QUOTE (kev211 @ Dec 23, 2010 -> 02:06 PM) So Cam Netwon gets paid to play football or attempts to and doesn't get any discipline, and Terrelle Pryor gets a free tatoo and gets suspended 5 games? The NCAA really has it act together. He's actually suspended for selling items that he won and owned. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 23, 2010 -> 12:07 PM) I can't believe I see people asking to see more of Leonard. He is completey overwhelmed on the court. Tisdale gets such a bad rap, as he was the best overall player for the Illini last night. I thought the overrated duo of Richardson and Paul played terrible last night. Paul's too busy trying to impress NBA scouts. Tisdale is beyond soft in the post. A good, strong post presence goes a long way. Of course if Richardson wasnt busy posing after he hit that three maybe they could have come back last night. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 23, 2010 -> 11:36 AM) Is Pryor guaranteed to stay next year? If he goes pro(even with the CBA negotiations putting the season in doubt) he could just say "f*** you NCAA" He should stay, but Boom, Posey and Adams could go pro. Apparently it was NCAA sanctions so the school will appeal. Maybe they will reduce it. Who knows. Selling your championship rings and gold pants seems like a dick move to me, unless they really were paying their family's bills. Most OSu fans expected Braxton to come in and get some time early anyway, so maybe this will speed it up. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 23, 2010 -> 11:19 AM) Well I agree that it's ineffective with 3 people hovering over you, but that's been his bread and butter move through the year, and he's gotten a LOT of points out of it. If Tisdale/Davis would do the same thing they'd actually have some points in the paint. Tisdale should take a back seat to Leonard. They need a physical presence to go along with Davis in the post. -

So it really wasnt even because of the tats. They sold awards THEY had won while playing football. Dumbasses, but none the less it seems a bit harsh. OSU plans to appeal. Comments from the players sound like they didnt know selling their stuff was against the rules since they owned the items. A few players actually mentioned they helped their family pay bills with the cash. Not sure it thats true, but I can see where they are coming from. -

If its true some of those guys sold their gold pants, f*** em anyway. The only real bad suspension there is Pryor although the #1 QB is coming in. The rest are replaceable by depth. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 23, 2010 -> 10:53 AM) I don't get it. I guess the players were more aware. Personally I actually support the suspensions but I also felt that Newton should have been suspended because I don't believe you can set the standard of a player not knowing being ok. He is very involved in the decision and I think it creates this loophole where a lot more parents will ask for money and leave there kid out of the process for their own protection. This is the school's suspension not the NCAA. There's the difference. -

Looks like: Mike Adams, Boom Herron, DeVier Posey, Terrelle Pryor, Solomon Thomas will miss first five games of next season. Jordan Whiting one game. First five guys must pay back somewhere between $1,000-$2,500. All eligible play in Sugar Bowl. There goes 2011. Guess Braxton Miller will be starting for half the season. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 22, 2010 -> 10:19 PM) Yo Rock, you hear anything about this Ohio State thing they are talking about on ESPN during the Boise game? 10 players potentially suspended for some tattoo parlor scandal? So apparently they are having an announcement shortly. It would be a joke to see players suspended for signing autographs for tats while players are winning heismans with their parents asking for 180k. Oh well. Hopefully the school does the right thing. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 22, 2010 -> 10:20 PM) I hope that's not true. It would completely ruin a BCS bowl game. I guess the story is that a player's parent did all the negotiation and since the players didnt know about it they are eligible. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 22, 2010 -> 10:10 PM) Im not even an Illini fan, but that was brutal call. Its inexcusable and they screwed a bunch of kids who deserve more from a paid professional. Call the foul, let him shoot the fts. That being said the Illini guy should have never touched him. +1 Illinois had a chance, they folded in the last few min. Just need to find someone else to create after McCamey. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 22, 2010 -> 10:03 PM) Based on what? What good wins do these teams have? OSU's best win is at Florida (and no one else), who looks terrible losing to Jacksonville. Duke has wins over Kansas St and Michigan State, two teams who were clearly overrated to begin the season. And Kansas' best win is Memphis, who needed OT to beat Arkansas State and Austin Peay. There are no dominant teams in college basketball this year, especially now that Duke lost Irving. Most experts would say OSU's good wins are at Florida, at FSU and against South Carolina. They also have a player who looks like a possible POY. -

QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 22, 2010 -> 04:43 PM) I find it very hard to believe that the Bengals are more popular than the Browns. It's true, definately over the past several years. Ohio State football is more popular than both which is the funny part. Alot of the northern Ohioans near Toldeo etc are actually Lions fans, while most cities south of Columbus are Bengals fans.

OSU has played really 2 bad games, they just were alot better talent-wise than their opponents. FSU and IUPUI were not very good games for them at all. Of course in conference play is a much different animal. A semi bad game in conference on the road is an almost automatic loss in the Big Ten. I cannot wait for conference play to start. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 21, 2010 -> 07:49 PM) I think Illinois could very well be a top 15 team this year, but I don't think they would be most years. Outside of Duke and a couple of other teams I don't think anyone is all that good. ILL SHOULD be a top 15 team, I honestly think they have top 10 talent, and I'm not sure why they havent put it together.
